Harwich station (Massachusetts)

Northwest Harwich is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Harwich in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 3,929 at the 2010 census. The CDP includes the Harwich villages of West Harwich, North Harwich, and Pleasant Lake, as well as a portion of the mailing area for Harwich Port.

Harwich ( HAR-witch) is a New England town on Cape Cod, in Barnstable County in the state of Massachusetts in the United States. At the 2020 census it had a population of 13,440. Harwich experiences a seasonal increase to roughly 37,000. The town is a popular vacation spot, located near the Cape Cod National Seashore. Harwich's beaches are on the Nantucket Sound side of Cape Cod. Harwich has three active harbors. Saquatucket, Wychmere and Allen Harbors are all in Harwich Port. The town of Harwich includes the villages of Pleasant Lake, West Harwich, East Harwich, Harwich Port, Harwich Center, North Harwich and South Harwich.

Harwich Center station was a train station located in Harwich, Massachusetts. Built in 1887, it was a small 1+1⁄2-story wooden structure with a pointed roof.The Chatham Railroad opened between Harwich and Chatham on November 21, 1887. It was immediately leased by the Old Colony Railroad, which controlled all rail lines on Cape Cod, as its Chatham Branch. The Old Colony was leased by the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in 1893.Passenger service on the Chatham Branch ended in 1931; it was the first line on Cape Cod to lose service. Freight service on the line continued until it was abandoned in 1937, though Harwich Center station was no longer in use by 1937. The stations were sold to private individuals; all but Chatham were eventually demolished.

The Harwich Historic District is a historic district encompassing the historic portions of the Harwich Center village of Harwich, Massachusetts. The village, originally known as Broadbrooks after a prominent local family, was developed beginning in the 18th century, and features a high quality concentration of Greek Revival and Italianate architecture. It extends along Main and Parallel Streets between the cemetery in the west and Brooks Park in the east. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Monomoy Regional High School is a regional secondary school located in Harwich, Massachusetts, United States, and within Monomoy Regional School District. Monomoy Regional High School serves approximately 625 students in grades 8-12 from the towns of Chatham and Harwich. Construction of the high school was completed in early 2014 and officially opened in September 2014. The school's mascot is the Sharks and the school colors are Navy Blue & Silver.

Harwich High School was a public high school located in Harwich, Massachusetts, United States. Harwich High School was the third smallest public high school on Cape Cod. Harwich High School closed in 2013-2014 due to the towns of Harwich and Chatham deciding to regionalize their school districts and build a regional high school. The new high school is Monomoy Regional High School, which opened in 2014.

B.F.C. Whitehouse Field, or Whitehouse Field, is a baseball venue in Harwich, Massachusetts, home to the Harwich Mariners of the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL). Opened in 1969, Whitehouse Field was named for Mr. B.F.C. Whitehouse and was dedicated in July 1969 as part of Harwich's 275th anniversary celebration. The ballpark was built on land adjacent to what is now Monomoy Regional High School, and features a deep outfield fence with a symmetrical configuration. It is accessed via an extended woodland trail that opens into the tree-ringed clearing where the field is located. As early as the 1920s, Harwich had a franchise in the CCBL, albeit originally a combined Chatham-Harwich team. The Mariners became Harwich's own team in 1930, and prior to 1969 played their home games at Harwich's Brooks Park. At the 1969 dedication ceremonies for Whitehouse Field, Mr. Whitehouse concluded his remarks by stoking Harwich's historic small-town border rivalry, turning to the Mariners players and exhorting, "Now go out there and beat Chatham!"In 1998, a new scoreboard was donated by former Major League Baseball commissioner Fay Vincent, Jr., in memory of his father, Fay Vincent, Sr. The commissioner had been a longtime summer resident of Harwich and a fan of the Mariners and the CCBL, and wished to honor his late father who had been the baseball captain at Yale University in 1931. The scoreboard was dedicated on July 6, 1998 as part of "Fay Vincent Night at Whitehouse Field", and has been billed by the CCBL as being "the largest scoreboard in New England south of Fenway Park". A 2008 grant from the Yawkey Foundation helped fund major upgrades to Whitehouse that included the installation of a new lighting system and protective netting.Whitehouse Field hosted the CCBL's annual all-star game and home run derby festivities in 1992, 2002, 2012 and 2018, and has seen the Mariners claim CCBL championships in 1983, 1987, 2008 and 2011. The ballpark has been the summertime home of dozens of future major leaguers such as Kevin Millar, Josh Donaldson, and DJ LeMahieu.

Pleasant Lake station is a former train station located in Harwich, Massachusetts on Cape Cod. The station building has been repurposed as the Pleasant Lake General Store.

Pleasant Lake is a village in the town of Harwich in Massachusetts, US, and is located off the Mid-Cape Highway. Most of the village is part of the census-designated place of Northwest Harwich. Pleasant Lake is one of the least known of the Harwich villages.

Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, also known as Cape Tech, Cape Cod Tech, Lower Cape Tech, and sometimes abbreviated as CCT, is a public vocational and technical high school located in Harwich, Massachusetts, United States. Cape Cod Regional Technical High School was founded in 1975. The school accepts students from the towns of Mashpee, Barnstable, Yarmouth, Harwich, Dennis, Chatham, Brewster, Orleans, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro and Provincetown. Cape Cod Tech is located just off Route 6 in Harwich at Exit 82. The school has an approximate enrollment of 650+ students in grades 9–12. The previous school building has been closed and demolished to make way for a new building, which was scheduled to be opened after the 2019–2020 school year, but partially closed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. The Current building has been operating since.

WCCT-FM was a radio station on 90.3 FM in Harwich, Massachusetts, United States, which operated from 1989 to 2014. It was the radio station of Cape Cod Regional Technical High School and broadcast from a transmitter site on the campus. Originally a student-run station, it spent most of its history rebroadcasting WBUR-FM of Boston. It ceased airing any local programming in 2011. WBUR replaced WCCT-FM in its network with a new and higher-power station, WBUH, in 2014.
