Windfields Farm in Chesapeake City was Maryland's leading stud farm for Thoroughbred horses before it closed in 1988.

The university is a co-educational institution that operates seven academic faculties. The institution was founded in 2002 as the University of Ontario Institute of Technology (UOIT) and is still legally known by that name. In its first decade of operation, the university developed its main campus with the construction of several new buildings. In 2011, the university opened its secondary campus in downtown Oshawa. In 2018, the university was rebranded as Ontario Tech University.In 2021, there were approximately 10,100 undergraduates and 970 graduate students enrolled at the university. As of 2022, the university holds an association with over 25,500 alumni.

Whitby Township is a geographic township and former municipality in what was Ontario County (now Durham Region), Ontario, Canada. It is now part of the Town of Whitby. The Township was established in 1792 (1792) as part of what was then York County. Whitby Township was one of five townships along Lake Ontario named for towns in northeast England (York, Scarborough, Pickering, Whitby and Darlington). In 1852, the Township became part of the newly formed County of Ontario. In 1855, the Town of Whitby was incorporated as a separate municipality in the southern portion of the Township and in 1858, the Township of East Whitby was formed from the eastern portion of the municipality near Oshawa. Whitby Township was mainly a rural municipality, but contained the communities of Brooklin, Ashburn, Myrtle and Myrtle Station. The Township was amalgamated with Whitby in 1968 to form an expanded Town of Whitby.

Oshawa Executive Airport (IATA: YOO, ICAO: CYOO) is a municipal airport adjacent to the north end of the city of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. It is the busiest general aviation airport without scheduled airline service in the Greater Toronto Area by aircraft movements and one of the busiest general aviation only airports in Canada. It includes two paved runways and instrument approaches. From 2002 to 2008, Oshawa hosted the annual Canadian Aviation Expo, Canada's largest annual aviation event, before the expo moved to John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport in 2009. Oshawa Airport now hosts the Girls Take Flight event that takes place every spring.The airport is classified as an airport of entry by Nav Canada and is staffed on call by the Canada Border Services Agency. CBSA officers at this airport can handle aircraft with no more than 50 passengers. The officers also provide weekday call out for general aviation arriving from outside Canada to Buttonville Municipal Airport in Markham, Ontario.

Columbus is a community in the Canadian province of Ontario, located within the city of Oshawa. The main road is Columbus Rd. There is one church serving the area on Simcoe St. There is also a golf course. One bus serves the area on its way to Port Perry and Uxbridge from Durham College. It runs every two hours. There are a few farms in the area dotting Ritson Road and Simcoe Street. The village's population is about 325. Most people commute to Oshawa or Toronto. The nearest grocery store is at Port Perry or Oshawa. Columbus is about 15 minutes from Oshawa and 60 minutes from Toronto.

The Oshawa Military and Industrial Museum is an accredited Canadian Forces Museum located in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The museum, more commonly known as The Ontario Regiment (RCAC) "Ferret Club", was founded in Oshawa in 1980 and has grown to become the Historic Vehicle Section of the Ontario Regiment Museum. The museum's maintainers are a group of volunteer military vehicle enthusiasts. The group includes civilians as well as several current and former members of the RCAC, and other units of the Canadian Army and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF).

The Ontario Regiment (RCAC) Museum is a military museum located in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. The museum is composed of a "Static Section" tracing the history of the Ontario Regiment and a Vehicle Section with more than 100 operational military vehicles. The Vehicle Section, containing jeeps, trucks, tanks and other military vehicles is the largest collection in North America. The museum is located on the South Field of the Oshawa Municipal Airport, 1000 Stevenson Rd N, Oshawa, Ontario (50 km east of Toronto, Ontario).

Whitby—Oshawa was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2004. Following the 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution, the bulk of the district became part of the new Whitby district, while parts of it will be transferred to Oshawa and Durham.

Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic High School, commonly referred to as Dwyer, is a Catholic high school in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada within the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB). The school offers curricula for students in grades 9–12 and a wide range of academic and extracurricular activities. The school prides itself on its athletic and art programs, with several alumni becoming athletes.

The Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB, known as English-language Separate District School Board No. 45 prior to 1999) is a Catholic school board located in Durham Region, east of Toronto, Ontario. It currently runs 39 elementary schools and 7 secondary schools. The board also runs one Adult Education Centre in Ajax and one Continuing Education Centre in Oshawa. The DCDSB has engaged in a focused effort to improve student learning through ongoing staff development in the area of instructional leadership. Of note is the steady improvement in student achievement as reported by the results of Provincial Assessments in math and literacy, also known as the EQAO tests.The DCDSB was previously known as the Durham Region Roman Catholic Separate School Board (DRRCSSB) until the end of 1997, operating both anglophone and francophone schools. The French schools in the Durham Region are now operated by Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.
