Maikammer

Maikammer is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the Südliche Weinstraße district, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The seat of the municipality is in Maikammer. On 1 July 2014 it merged into the Verbandsgemeinde Edenkoben, but this merger was reverted by the constitutional court of Rhineland-Palatinate in June 2015.The Verbandsgemeinde Maikammer consists of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"): Kirrweiler Maikammer Sankt Martin

It lies approximately halfway between Landau and Neustadt an der Weinstraße. Edenkoben is one of the towns situated along the German Wine Route. Edenkoben is the seat of the Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") Edenkoben.

The Lederstrumpfbrunnen (literally: leatherstocking fountain) is a fountain in the German city of Edenkoben. It commemorates the frontiersman Johann Adam Hartmann (1748-1836), who was born in this city and considered by some as a possible inspiration for the character Natty Bumppo of the Leatherstocking Tales novels by the American writer James Fenimore Cooper.The three main sculptures around the fountain are Hartman/Bumppo depicted as a hunter with a rifle and accompanied by a dog, the Indian chief Chingachgook (another famous character from the novels) and the artist Max Slevogt (1868-1932), who created some of the best known illustrations for the German editions of the novels.The fountain was designed between 1987 and 1990 by the German sculptor Gernot Rumpf.

Hambach Castle (German: Hambacher Schloss) is a castle near the urban district Hambach of Neustadt an der Weinstraße in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is considered a symbol of the German democracy movement because of the Hambacher Fest which occurred here in 1832.
