Waldsee, Palatinate

Rheinauen is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the district Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The seat of the Verbandsgemeinde is in Waldsee. Before 1 January 2016, the Verbandsgemeinde was named Waldsee. The Verbandsgemeinde Rheinauen consists of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"): Altrip Neuhofen Otterstadt Waldsee

Neuhofen is a municipality in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is situated approximately 7 km south of Ludwigshafen.

Otterstadt is a municipality in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The almost 980-year-old village was once a pure agricultural and fishing village. Today the inhabitants work in the neighbouring industrial cities: Mannheim, Ludwigshafen and Speyer.

Limburgerhof is a municipality in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, 7 km southwest of Ludwigshafen. It is known in the region because of an Agrochemical Center of the world's largest chemical company BASF, which has its headquarters in Ludwigshafen. The village with a population of about 10 000 was founded in 1930.

The Floßbach (also Floßgraben or Floßkanal, formerly Flotzbach or Flotzbachgraben) is a man-made river 16 kilometres (9.9 mi) long. It is an orographically right-hand tributary of the Isenach in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It was built in the 18th century to enable the timber rafting of firewood.

The Rehbach is a river in Rhineland-Palatinate. It is about 29 kilometres (18 mi) long and is a left tributary of the Rhine.

Limburgerhof station – called Mutterstadt until 1930 – is in the town of Limburgerhof in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Deutsche Bahn classifies it as a category 4 station and it has two platform tracks and two through tracks. The station is located in the network of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (Rhine-Neckar transport association, VRN) and belongs to fare zone 123. Its address is Am Bahnhofsplatz 1.It is located on the Mannheim–Saarbrücken railway, which essentially consists of the Palatine Ludwig Railway (Pfälzische Ludwigsbahn, Ludwigshafen–Bexbach). It was opened on 11 June 1847, when the Ludwigshafen–Neustadt section of the Ludwig Railway was put into full operation under the name of Mutterstadt, since it originally served the municipality of Mutterstadt. Its present name was given to it because the settlement of Limburgerhof was established in the area from 1900; this was raised to an independent municipality on 1 January 1930. In the meantime, it was rebuilt as a halt. Since December 2003, it has been served by lines S1 and S2 of the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn. Its former entrance building is heritage listed.

The Rhine-Neckar Metropolitan Region (German: Metropolregion Rhein-Neckar, pronounced [metʁoˈpoːlʁeˌɡi̯oːn ˌʁaɪnˈnɛkaʁ]), often referred to as Rhein-Neckar-Triangle, is a polycentric metropolitan region located in south western Germany, between the Frankfurt/Rhine-Main region to the North and the Stuttgart Region to the South-East. Rhine-Neckar has a population of some 2.4 million with major cities being Mannheim, Ludwigshafen and Heidelberg. Other cities include the former Free imperial cities of Speyer and Worms. The metro area also encompasses parts of the Baden and Palatinate wine regions, the second largest vine region of the country called Deutsche Weinstraße and territory from the three federal states of Baden-Württemberg, Rhineland-Palatinate and Hesse. It has a strong local identity as a successor of the historical Electorate of the Palatinate state. The region is named after the rivers Rhine and Neckar, which join at Mannheim. Since 2005, the region is officially recognized as a European Metropolitan Area.

Ludwigshafen-Mundenheim station—originally called Mundenheim—is in the Ludwigshafen suburb of Mundenheim in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Deutsche Bahn classifies it as a category 5 station and it has three platform tracks and one through track without a platform. The station is located in the network of the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Neckar (Rhine-Neckar transport association, VRN) and belongs to fare zone 103. Its address is Wattstraße 126.It is located on the Mannheim–Saarbrücken railway and it was opened in 1886 under the name of Mundenheim. Four years later, on 15 October 1890, the narrow-gauge Ludwigshafen–Dannstadt railway was opened, making it an interchange station. This line was extended to Meckenheim on 1 March 1911. It was closed in 1955. Since December 2003, the station has been served by lines S1 and S2 of the Rhine-Neckar S-Bahn. In addition, a freight track branched off at the station.

Leimbach is a river of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It passes through Wiesloch, Nußloch and Schwetzingen, and flows into the Rhine in Brühl. Between the cities of Wiesloch and Walldorf the river flows through the Leimbach Park linear-park close to Wiesloch-Walldorf station before flowing northwards between the Mannheim–Karlsruhe–Basel railway and Wiesloch Feldbahn and Industrial Museum.

The Golden Hat of Schifferstadt (German: Der Goldene Hut von Schifferstadt) was discovered in a field near the town of Schifferstadt in Southwest Germany in 1835. It is a Bronze Age artefact made of thin sheet gold and served as the external decoration of a head-dress, probably of an organic material, with a brim and a chin-strap. The hat is on display in the Historical Museum of the Palatinate in Speyer. It is one of a group of four similar artifacts known as the Golden hats, all cone-shaped Bronze Age head-dresses made of sheet gold.

Schifferstadt (Palatine German: Schiwwerschdadd, Schiffaschdad, or Schiwwerschdadt) is a town in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. If not including Ludwigshafen (the district free city that is the capital of Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis), Schifferstadt is the only urban municipality in the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis. It is situated approximately 12 km southwest of Ludwigshafen and 6 km northwest of Speyer.
