WDUR (1490 AM) is an Indian/South Asian radio station in Durham, North Carolina, owned by Ravi Cherukuri, through licensee Arohi Media LLC. The station plays primarily Bollywood Hits while embracing the rest of the South Asian culture through news, Tamil/Telugu Music and much more.

Durham Technical Community College (Durham Tech) is a public community college in Durham, North Carolina. The college serves Northern Durham County at its Northern Durham Center, and in Orange County at its Orange County Campus completed in 2008. Durham Tech serves nearly 20,000 students with curriculum and continuing education offerings. It offers career programs leading to more than 100 degrees, certificates, and diplomas and university transfer programs. Durham Tech is a charter member of the North Carolina Community College System and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. As of 2014, the college had nearly 500 full-time and part-time faculty members and 3,900 matriculated students. A large portion of Durham Tech students are part-time. To give them flexibility, the college has a large distance education program, offering numerous online courses and hybrid courses.

Durham Cotton Mills Village Historic District are a set of historic mill village houses and national historic district located at Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 15 contributing residential buildings built by the Durham Cotton Manufacturing Company. They are 1+1⁄2-story, "story and a jump" gable end frame dwellings dated to the mid-1880s. Twelve of the dwellings have rear one-story, gable-roofed ells.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.

O'Kelly–Riddick Stadium is a college football stadium in Durham, North Carolina. It is the home field of the North Carolina Central University Eagles. The stadium holds 10,000 people and opened in 1975.

North Carolina Central University (NCCU or NC Central) is a public historically black university in Durham, North Carolina. Founded by James E. Shepard in affiliation with the Chautauqua movement in 1909, it was supported by private funds from both Northern and Southern philanthropists. It was made part of the state system in 1923, when it first received state funding and was renamed as Durham State Normal School. It added graduate classes in arts and sciences and professional schools in law and library science in the late 1930s and 1940s. In 1969 the legislature designated this a regional university and renamed it as North Carolina Central University. It has been part of the University of North Carolina system since 1972 and offers programs at the baccalaureate, master's, professional, and doctoral levels. The university is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund.

McDougald-McLendon Arena is a 3,500-seat multi-purpose arena in Durham, North Carolina. Opened in 1950, it is home to the North Carolina Central University Eagles basketball and volleyball teams.Arena namesake John McLendon helped organize "The Secret Game" between then named North Carolina College and Duke University Medical School in 1944, which was the first fully integrated college basketball game.

Stokesdale Historic District is a national historic district located at Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. The district encompasses 227 contributing buildings, 1 contributing site, and 1 contributing structure in a historically African-American residential section of Durham. The buildings primarily date between about 1912 and 1960 and include notable examples of Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, Tudor Revival, and Bungalow / American Craftsman architecture. Notable buildings include Page's Grocery (c. 1913), College Inn (c. 1935), Covenant United Presbyterian Church (1948), and Seventh Day Adventist Church (1954).It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

Durham, the namesake of the city. Following the American Civil War, the community of Durham Station expanded rapidly, in part due to the tobacco industry. The town was incorporated by act of the North Carolina General Assembly, in April 1869. The establishment of Durham County was ratified by the General Assembly 12 years later, in 1881. It became known as the founding place and headquarters of the American Tobacco Company. Textile and electric power industries also played an important role. While these industries have declined, Durham underwent revitalization and population growth to become an educational, medical, and research center.Durham is home to several recognized institutions of higher education, most notably Duke University and North Carolina Central University. Bennett Place commemorates the location where Joseph E. Johnston surrendered to William T. Sherman in the American Civil War. The city is served, along with Raleigh, by Raleigh–Durham International Airport.

Scarborough House is a historic home located in the Hayti neighborhood of Durham, Durham County, North Carolina. It was built in 1916, and consists of a cubical two-story, two-room-deep hip roofed main block, with a two-story hip-roofed rear ell. It features a Neoclassical style, two-story flat-roofed portico on paired Doric order columns. It was built by prosperous African-American funeral home owner J. C. Scarborourgh and his wife Daisy and many of the materials used for the house were salvaged by Scarborough from the 1880s Queen Anne Style Frank L. Fuller House which formerly stood in the 300 block of E. Main St.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985.
