Koonung Creek Reserve

Koonung Creek (or Koonung Koonung Creek) is a small tributary of the Yarra River in Melbourne's east. The creek originates in Nunawading near Springvale Road, and flows to join the Yarra at the border between Ivanhoe East, Bulleen and Balwyn North. The place the two waterways meet forms the borders between these suburbs. Bushy Creek (now carried by an underground pipe) is a tributary to the creek, joining near Elgar Park in Mont Albert North. A shared use path follows the course of the creek (and therefore also the Freeway), known as the Koonung Creek Trail. Melbourne Water rates the condition of the creek as 'Very Poor'. Also according to Melbourne Water, the river is the unhealthiest waterway in Melbourne. Melbourne Water's monitoring station for the creek at Bulleen Road in Bulleen, detected an average E. coli count of 1800, this is nine times the safe swimming level (200). This was the highest level of E. coli measured in all of metropolitan Melbourne's waterways. The poor condition of the creek has been evident from the earliest days of European settlement. Five species of frog call the creek home, these are the Common Eastern Froglet, the Spotted Marsh Frog, the Striped Marsh Frog, the Eastern or Pobblebonk Frog and the Southern Brown or Ewing's Tree Frog. The Eastern Freeway follows the path of the creek within the band of parkland that adjoins the creek over its entire length.

Bulleen Park and Ride is a park and ride bus station and future busway station located in Melbourne, Australia serving the suburb of Bulleen and situated next to the Eastern Freeway. It was opened on 30 April 2023 by the Victorian government as the first piece of public infrastructure delivered by the North East Link project.A dedicated busway will be constructed from Doncaster Park and Ride, via this station to Hoddle Street in the city with its own right-of-way. It is expected to be completed by 2028.

Bulleen ( BULL-een) is an eastern suburb in Melbourne, Australia, 13 km north-east of the Melbourne central business district, located within the City of Manningham local government area. Bulleen recorded a population of 11,219 at the 2021 census.

Doncaster Park and Ride is a park and ride bus station and future busway station located in Melbourne, Australia. It serves the suburb of Doncaster and situates next to the Eastern Freeway, and opened in January 2003. On some official sources and signage of the station, the "and" in its name is replaced by a "+" symbol, making it Doncaster Park + Ride.

Marcellin College is a Catholic secondary boys' college in Bulleen, Victoria, Australia. The school was founded in 1950 by the Marist Brothers originally in Canterbury Road, Camberwell, Victoria. A senior school campus was opened in Bulleen for years 9 to 12 with the Canterbury campus catering for years 4 to 8. With the school population growing the Junior School in Camberwell ceased accepting students in grades 4, 5 and 6 and took only Years 7 and 8. The college consolidated its campuses in 1993 and the Junior School was closed.The college is a member of the Associated Grammar Schools of Victoria and the Association of Marist Schools of Australia. It comes under the eastern region of Catholic Education Melbourne.

Balwyn North, also known as North Balwyn, is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 10 km east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the Cities of Boroondara and Whitehorse local government areas. Balwyn North recorded a population of 21,302 at the 2021 census.

Greythorn Park is a park in the suburb of Balwyn North, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is located in the eastern part of the suburb known as Greythorn, from which the park gets its name.

Winter Park is a housing estate designed by award winning architect Graeme Gunn and developed by both Rob White and Merchant designers. It is located at 131-147 High Street, Doncaster, Victoria and is in 2.43 hectares in size. The design consists of twenty detached houses and was constructed in two stages between 1970 and 1974. Gunn’s residential project is described as “an outstanding example of careful design extended into a consideration of the importance of landscape and open space and, ultimately, the presence and feel of a place”.

Greythorn High School was a state-run high school (years 7-12) in the suburb of Balwyn North, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The school was established in February 1958, meeting for the first time at Balwyn High School as the new building at Greythorn Road was not completed at that time. After three days, the 81 students and 5 teachers transferred to temporary premises at St Silas Hall and the Scout Hall at Macleay Park. The school moved to the permanent Greythorn Road site in June 1958. The school was officially opened on Saturday 4 June 1960 by the Minister for Education, J. S. Bloomfield, MLA.During the 1970s and 1980s the school had over 1,000 students and over 100 staff. It was used for the filming of the children's series, Pugwall.Student numbers dwindled during the 1990s. As from January 1992, the school merged with Balwyn High School which then operated the Greythorn Road site as a campus for year 9 and year 11 students. The Greythorn Road campus was closed in 1994 by the Kennett Government. The buildings were eventually demolished and the land converted to a new housing estate. The school had a library and extensive sport facilities, including two large ovals. The school was well known for teaching drama and producing school plays and musicals, with students such as Mary Coustas and Kate Ceberano moving on to successful careers in drama and music.

Gordon Barnard Reserve is a park in the suburb of Balwyn North, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It is primarily used for sporting purposes on its two ovals but also contains a significant amount of native vegetation and gravel paths.

Hislop Park, also known as Hislop Reserve, is a park in the suburb of Balwyn North, Melbourne, Australia. It is situated between Balwyn Road and the North Balwyn Tennis Club in a portion of a valley through which the Glass Creek runs, now largely through underground drains. It has a number of entrances accessible on foot, including from Albury St and Balwyn Road. The park contains three informal ovals, which are used by sporting clubs throughout the year.

Templestowe Lower is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 14 km northeast of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Manningham local government area. Templestowe Lower recorded a population of 14,098 at the 2021 census. Its name reflects the fact that Lower Templestowe is situated on the Yarra River, but downstream from the neighbouring suburb of Templestowe. It is bounded in the west by Rose Avenue, Russell Street and Sheahans Road, in the north by the Yarra River, in the east by Ruffey Creek and Williamsons Road and in the south generally by Manningham Road. It is home to primary schools and a secondary school; Templestowe Secondary College. Like neighbouring Templestowe, it is poorly serviced by public transportation, lying geographically between three existing rail lines (Hurstbridge and Lilydale/Belgrave). An excellent and frequent bus service exists, running from Lower Templestowe into the city or to the nearest train lines.
