Birmingham Manor (Maryland)

Snow Hill is a manor house located south of Laurel, Maryland, off Maryland Route 197, in Prince George's County. Built between 1799 and 1801, the 1+1⁄2-story brick house is rectangular, with a gambrel roof, interior end chimneys, and shed dormers. It has a center entrance with transom and a small gabled porch. A central hall plan was used, with elaborate interior and corner cupboards. The original south wing was removed and rebuilt, and the home restored in 1940. The Late Georgian style house was the home of Samuel Snowden, part owner of extensive family ironworks, inherited from his father Richard Snowden. and is now owned and operated by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission as a rental facility.Snow Hill was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Maryland City is a census-designated place (CDP) in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, United States. The population was 16,093 at the 2010 census. It is located east of Laurel, just over the border with Prince George's County, and it has a Laurel ZIP Code. Maryland City mostly consists of an older, compact housing development and is adjacent to Fort Meade army base. A large newer development (built mid-1990s) on the north side of Maryland Route 198 is known as Russett and is included within the Maryland City CDP.

Montpelier Mansion, sometimes known as the Snowden-Long House, New Birmingham, or simply Montpelier, is a five-part, Georgian style plantation house located south of Laurel in Prince George's County, Maryland. It was most likely constructed between 1781 and 1785. Built by Major Thomas Snowden and his wife Anne, the house is now a National Historic Landmark operated as a house museum. The home and 70 acres (28 ha) remain of what was once a slave plantation of about 9,000 acres (3,600 ha).It was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1970, primarily for its architecture.

Montpelier, Prince George's County, Maryland, United States, (ZIP Codes 20708, 20709) is a suburban community outside the corporate boundaries of Laurel. Located near the Baltimore–Washington Parkway, it was built in the 1960s and early 1970s by Levitt & Sons. There are four models of houses in the Levitt style, with mirror images giving eight different floor plans. The Montpelier area has a history dating back to 1685, when it was part of a land grant given to Richard Snowden, Sr. by Lord Baltimore. Richard Snowden arrived in Maryland as an indentured servant and eventually became one of the largest landowners. The Snowden family built and lived in the Montpelier Mansion which remains a symbol of their success, financially and socially. The Montpelier community is a Planned Unit Development (PUD) and as such it has registered covenants and restrictions as set forth in Governing Documents dated January 1998. The purpose of these covenants is to provide a structured means of maintaining standards.

Laurel Park, formerly Laurel Race Course, is an American thoroughbred racetrack located just outside Laurel, Maryland which opened in 1911. The track is 1+1⁄8 miles in circumference. Its name was changed to "Laurel Race Course" for several decades until returning to the "Laurel Park" designation in 1994.

Laurel Race Track is a passenger rail station on the MARC Camden Line between the District of Columbia's Washington Union Station and Baltimore's Camden Station. The station was built in 1911, by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad to serve the Laurel Park race track, as is indicated by the station's eponymous name. Service at this station is very limited. Only evening south/westbound trains (to Washington) stop at this station, and it is a flag stop, meaning that trains only stop if passengers need to get on or off.
