Aarhus Custom House

Stykgodspakhuset, or Pakhus 13, is a former warehouse and a listed building in Aarhus, Denmark. The warehouse was built in 1926 and was listed in the Danish national registry of protected buildings and places by the Danish Heritage Agency on 4 April 2006. The warehouse is situated on the water front of the Port of Aarhus in the central Indre by neighbourhood next to the Custom House and has functioned as a storehouse for parcels and other small cargo since completion to the mid 20th century. The building is today used for offices after extensive renovation in 2007.The protected status was given due to the detailed work in an industrial structure. The Heritage Agency emphasizes the large gates and wall areas that give the building gravitas, offset by the small grid windows, gate covers and the copper roof. The interior features large mushroom columns typical of industrial architecture and they give the long store rooms a basilical appearance. The warehouse illustrates the importance of the Port of Aarhus as the largest provincial port in Denmark in the 20th century.The building is 43 meters long in two stories and constructed of red bricks. The longer sides facing the harbor and Havnegade are not identical but are designed for a common purpose with large gates and grid windows. The doors are made of teak and painted red with intricate carvings and framed by granite blocks. The low hip roof is plated in verdigris green copper plates. The neoclassical architecture interacts with the characteristic national romantic Custom House building from 1898 situated next to it.The warehouse was designed by the royal building inspector Frederik M. Draiby who also designed the Spanien Public Baths. It was slightly altered in 1963 with the addition of a gate in the north wall and a ramp. In 2007 it was renovated and turned into offices after it was listed as a protected building.

Skolebakken railway halt is a railway halt serving the central part of the city of Aarhus in Jutland, Denmark. The station is located on the Grenaa Line between Aarhus and Grenaa. In 2016, the station was temporarily closed along with the Grenaa Line while it's being reconstructed to form part of the Aarhus light rail system. It reopened as such in 2017, and reopened for trams to Grenaa in 2019.

Aarhus Katedralskole is a cathedral school, an institution of secondary education, a Danish Gymnasium and a listed building in Aarhus, Denmark. The school is situated in the neighborhood Midtbyen, in the Latin Quarter, bounded by the streets Mejlgade, Kystvejen and Skolegyde. Aarhus Katedralskole offers the 3 year Matriculation examination (STX) programme with elective subjects in the natural sciences, social sciences and arts. The school is an independent self-owning institution financed by the Danish state with about 800 students divided across 30 classes.

Skolegade (Lit.: School Street) is a street in Aarhus, Denmark which runs north to south from Mejlgade to Mindebrogade. The street is situated in the Midtbyen neighborhood. Skolegade is home to two listed buildings and runs past the Aarhus Theater. Skolegade is an area with many bars and eateries, and it has a lively nightlife. The street is from at least medieval times with many historic buildings.

Dokk1 station is a tram stop serving the central part of the city of Aarhus in Jutland, Denmark. The station is located on the Aarhus light rail, on the Grenaa Line between Aarhus and Grenaa. The station was called Europaplads until it was temporarily closed in 2016 to 2017, then renamed to Dokk1 station, and redefined to a tram stop, a part of the Aarhus light rail system. It is named after the Dokk1 culture centre.

Dokk1 or Dokken is a government building, public library and culture center in Aarhus, Denmark. It is situated on Hack Kampmanns Plads in the city center by the waterfront next to the Custom House. Dokk1 is part of the much larger development project Urban Mediaspace Aarhus, jointly financed by Aarhus Municipality and Realdania for 2.1 billion DKK. It is designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects and Kristine Jensen, with construction managed by NCC AB. Construction broke ground 8 June 2011 and the building was inaugurated four years later on 20 June 2015.The name of the building was determined by a public contest held in the autumn of 2012. The combination of letters and number can be pronounced as "Dokken", "Dok-Ét" or "Dok-Een", meaning The Dock or Dock One in English. The term references the location on the former industrial harbor by the waterfront.

The Five Sisters (Danish: De fem søstre) is a building and silo complex in Aarhus, Denmark which is an Industrial Heritage Site of Denmark. It is situated on the Mellemarmen pier on the industrial section of the Port of Aarhus in Aarhus city center. The silos represent the transition from manual to mechanized labor during the second wave of industrialization in the early 20th century and is symptomatic of the relationship between agriculture, industry and transport in the city. The Five Sisters were the first reinforced concrete structure to be erected in Aarhus and at the time it was the only building apart from the cathedral to rise above the city.

Aarhus River (Danish: Århus Å) is a 40-kilometre (25 mi) long river or stream, in eastern Jutland, Denmark. The river flows through the large river valley of Aarhus Ådal. The valley itself, stretches from Silkeborg to the coastal city of Aarhus, but the Aarhus River only runs through the easternmost parts. The river drains a basin of 324 square kilometres (125 sq mi) in the eastern part of Søhøjlandet and discharges into the Bay of Aarhus which is an embayment of the Kattegat. It originates 54 metres (177 ft) above sea level in the swampy bogland of Astrup Mose close to Stilling-Solbjerg Lake, southwest of the city of Aarhus (56°6' northern latitude, 10°9' eastern longitude) and exits into Aarhus Harbour at 56°9' northern latitude, 10°13' eastern longitude. The river defines the border between Skanderborg and Aarhus Municipality during its first few kilometres.

The Aarhus Theatre (Danish: Aarhus Teater) in Aarhus, is the largest provincial theatre in Denmark. The present theatre house was constructed in the late 19th century, as a replacement for the old theatre, nicknamed "Svedekassen" (The Sweat-box). Since Aarhus had grown to become Jutland's biggest city during the 19th century, the old theatre had become too small to serve the public demand. A new building was designed by the Danish architect Hack Kampmann (1856–1920), and the construction began on 12 August 1898. Only two years later, Aarhus Theatre stood completed and was inaugurated on 15 September 1900. The architectural style of the building is Art Nouveau, with the national romantic emphasis on natural materials, and the interior design was completed by artists Hansen Reistrup and Hans Tegner. In 2007, the Aarhus Theatre received an audio make-over.

KØN - Gender Museum Denmark, formerly Kvindemuseet (Women's Museum), is a history museum in Aarhus, Denmark focused on the cultural history of gender and sexuality in Denmark. KØN was originally founded in 1982 as a women's history museum, and is housed in the former Aarhus City Hall, built in 1857. In 2016, the museum's thematic focus was expanded to encompass issues of gender and sexuality in the broadest sense, and as a result of that, the museum's name was changed to KØN (Gender in English) in 2021.As of 2012, the museum operated on a budget of DKK 10 million from state, municipal and private funding. There is a café and bakery at KØN.

Aarhus Old City Hall is the former city hall of Aarhus, Denmark, and a listed building. The city hall was built in 1857 and was listed in the Danish national registry of protected buildings and places by the Danish Heritage Agency on 18 March 1996. It is the second, and oldest preserved, city hall of Aarhus. The city Hall is situated next to Aarhus Cathedral on the corner of Domkirkepladsen and Mejlgade in the central Indre By neighbourhood and has functioned as city hall, police station and today as a museum, housing both the Women's Museum and the Occupation Museum.

Hans Broge's House (Danish: Hans Broges Gård) is a house and a listed building in Aarhus, Denmark. The house was built in 1850 and was listed on the Danish registry of protected buildings and places by the Danish Heritage Agency on 6 September 1987. The house is situated in the historic Indre by neighborhood on Mindegade close to the harbor and the Port of Aarhus. Hans Broge's House was constructed by the prominent businessman and politician Hans Broge who was active in the port expansions and emerging industrial factories at the nearby harbor front at the time. The building is in classicist style and a simplified version of empire style. It is a two-story building, which was typical in the city at the time, with cornice bands below the windows, a prominent base and shadow joints. The building material is brick with plastered facades and a tiled pitched roof. in. Architecturally the building is characterized by exact symmetrical measurements of the individual elements.
