Barry Links railway station

Barry (Scottish Gaelic: Barraidh) is a small village in Angus, Scotland, on Barry Burn at the mouth of the River Tay. The recent completion of a bypass for the village on the A930 road from Dundee to Carnoustie is something that was originally planned before the Second World War. There is a water mill (Barry Mill) operated by the National Trust for Scotland.

Gardynebourg was a hamlet that once existed in Angus, Scotland, between Barry and Carnoustie. Urban growth in the latter part of the nineteenth century and early twentieth century gradually led to Gardynebourg becoming subsumed into the town of Carnoustie. The location of Gardynebourg can be seen on the first edition Ordnance Survey map (6 inches to one mile) of 1865. The buildings that once comprised the hamlet can be found today in the locality of Thomas Street, Carnoustie.

Barry Buddon Training Area is a Ministry of Defence-owned rifle range and training area in Barry, Angus, Scotland, which runs adjacent to Carnoustie Golf Links and the Dundee - Aberdeen railway Line.

Carnoustie Panmure Football Club are a Scottish Junior football club from the town of Carnoustie, Angus. They currently compete in the SJFA Midlands League.

Barry Mill is a working Category A listed watermill in Barry, Angus in eastern Scotland. It is owned and operated by the National Trust for Scotland as an educational tourist attraction. Situated in a secluded area beside the Barry Burn (the watercourse, which provides its power), the mill lies about half a mile north of the village of Barry, near the town of Carnoustie. It is a three floor building, containing a meal floor (basement), a milling floor and a top (or "bin floor"). A site for several mills since at least 1539, Barry Mill was commercially operational until 1984; it was then restored, and has been operated by the Trust since 1992. It was threatened with closure in March 2009, but has remained open due to local support, and the securing of external funding.

Panmure Golf Club is a golf club close to the village of Barry, Angus, Scotland. It is one of the clubs that originally helped purchase the Amateur Championship trophy, and is one of the oldest golf clubs in the world, dating back to 1845. It is a private club that plays over the Barry Links, and is sometimes referred to as Barry or Panmure Barry. Due to its location next to Carnoustie it is often overlooked by visitors, and with the number of members limited to 500 it is one of the most underplayed courses in Scotland.

The location of Hunter's Town can be seen on the first edition Ordnance Survey map (6 inches to one mile) of 1865. The buildings that once comprised the hamlet can be found today on Barry Road, Carnoustie around the junction with Lochend Road.

Carnoustie High School is a comprehensive secondary school in Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland. Situated to the north of the town, the school serves Carnoustie and surrounding villages, including Barry, Monikie, Newbigging, Craigton, Muirdrum, Panbride and Easthaven.

Upper Victoria is a hamlet in Angus, Scotland. It lies on the A92 road between Arbroath and Dundee and is the location of the junction of the A92 and the Marches, the Craigton to Carnoustie road, forming the main route into Carnoustie.Upper Victoria was the site of Pitskelly quarry and, in the early 19th century, David Hunter of Blackness constructed a railway line between the quarry and Carnoustie to transport stone railway sleepers to the main line. The stone ultimately proved to be of inferior quality and the venture was abandoned.

Clayholes is a small hamlet in Angus, Scotland. It lies approximately 0.5 kilometres (0.31 mi) north of Carnoustie on the unclassified Balmachie road, that connects the A930 road in Carnoustie with the A92 road at Balmachie.The settlement is not present on the earliest detailed maps available for the area, but can be seen for example on Ainslie's map of 1794. The site, however, appears to have been settled in pre-modern times, as evidenced by archaeology found in the immediate vicinity.

Golf Street railway station is located on Golf Street in Carnoustie, Angus, Scotland, and serves the town's central areas. It is sited 9 miles 70 chains (15.9 km) from the former Dundee East station, on the Dundee to Aberdeen line, between Barry Links and Carnoustie. ScotRail, who manage the station, operate all services.

The 1968 Open Championship was the 97th Open Championship, played 10–13 July at Carnoustie Golf Links in Angus, Scotland. Gary Player won the second of his three Open titles, two strokes ahead of runners-up Bob Charles and Jack Nicklaus. It was the fifth of Player's nine major titles. This Open introduced the second cut at 54 holes, used through 1985. In addition, starting with this Championship all past Open champions were exempt from qualifying (though, eventually, an age restriction was placed on past champions). The inaugural Greater Milwaukee Open was held in the United States during the same week, with a first prize of $40,000, over five times the winner's share of the Open Championship, which was $7,200 (£3,000). The PGA Championship was played the next week in San Antonio, Texas, the fifth and final time in the 1960s that these two majors were played in consecutive weeks in July. The PGA Championship moved permanently to August in 1969 (except 1971, when it was played in late February) and remained there until 2019, when it moved to May between The Masters and U.S. Open.
