Ladybank () is a village and former burgh of Fife, Scotland. It is about 62 kilometres (39 mi) north of Edinburgh, 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) southwest of Cupar, close to the River Eden. Its 2006 population was estimated at 1,582.

Kingskettle or often simply Kettle is a village and parish in Fife, Scotland. Encompassed by the Howe of Fife, the village is approximately 5.5 miles (9 km) southwest of the nearest town, Cupar, and 22 miles (35 km) north of Edinburgh. According to the 2011 Census for Scotland, the Kettle parish had a population of 1,645, of which 1,002 lived in the village.As with many villages along the River Eden, the primary source of employment and industry in the village was the manufacture of linen. In the wider parish, there is an abundance of fertile farmland that has been taken advantage of for millennia. According to Understanding Scottish Places, Kingskettle is now primarily home to commuters.The definite origin of the name of Kettle is unknown but dates back to at least the 12th century. It is widely thought that it originates from the word 'battle,' however it would have to be the Pictish form of the word. Alternatively, it is thought the name could stem from the indigenous wildcat. The prefix 'kings' is an obvious association with the crown, with land in the village in the hands of the earls of Fife and other nobility throughout various points in time.The parish includes the settlements of Kettlebridge, Balmalcolm, Kettlehill, Burnturk, Muirhead, and several farms.

The Howe of Fife is the broad, low-lying valley of the River Eden, lying between the Ochil Hills and the Lomond Hills in Fife, Scotland. Howe, in Scots means a hollow or a plain bounded by hills. The alternative terms Laich of Fife and the Valley of Eden have fallen from use, as has Stratheden, save for the hospital near Cupar.Cupar-based Howe of Fife RFC take their name from the area.

Balmalcolm is a small village in the Kettle parish of Fife, Scotland. Encompassed by the low-lying Howe of Fife, the village is roughly 5+1⁄2 miles (9 km) southwest of Cupar, the nearest town, and around 22 miles (35 kilometres) north of Edinburgh.

Daftmill distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery, located in a converted barn at Daftmill Farm in the Howe of Fife. The distillery was granted a licence by HMRC in 2005 to produce whisky and the first was produced on 16 December 2005.Built in a converted meal mill and using un-peated malt, Daftmill has a maximum production capacity of only 20,000 litres of alcohol per year, making it a very low-volume distillery. Its first release was introduced as Daftmill 2005 12–Year Inaugural Release. All the grain used in distillation is produced on the farm.

Melville House is a 1697 house that lies to the south side of the Palace of Monimail near Collessie in Fife, Scotland. It has been a school and a training base for Polish soldiers who had arrived in Scotland after the 51st Highland Division had been forced to surrender at Saint-Valery-en-Caux in 1940.The building was the most expensive building in Britain ever reclaimed by a bank.

The Palace of Monimail, also known as Monimail Tower, was a Renaissance palace in Fife, Scotland. A residence of the Archbishops of St Andrews from the 13th century, in the early 17th century Monimail became a chief seat of the Melville family. Lord Monimail is one of the subsidiary titles of the Leslie-Melville Earls of Leven. It was abandoned in the late 17th century and subsequently most of the palace was demolished. One tower remains standing in the grounds of Melville House near the village of Monimail, 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of Ladybank.

Freuchie is a village in Fife, Scotland, at the foot of the Lomond Hills, and near Falkland. The nearest major town is Glenrothes located 4 miles to the south. The name derives from the Scottish Gaelic, fraoch, meaning heather. This Fife village is not to be confused with the old location of the same name in Morayshire (now in the Highland Council Area) upon which the new town of Grantown was built in the 18th century. Freuchie was once used by the Royal family as a place of banishment from the Court when it was in nearby Falkland Palace. The Scots sayings "Awa tae Freuchie where the froggies bide" and "awa tae Freuchie an eat mice" both make reference to the village, these insults would be directed at prisoners of the Stuart kings residing in Falkland Palace, 2 miles to the west, prisoners would be held in the village awaiting execution. Another aphoristic usage occurs in the phrase "as Scots as Freuchie", although whether this might ultimately stem from the Morayshire location is not certain. Freuchie Cricket Club is best known for having won the village cricket championships at Lord's in 1985. This is considered particularly unusual as Scottish teams are not generally prominent in the game.On 13 August 2008, a number of locations throughout the village were affected by flooding, resulting in damage to homes and cars being written off by insurance companies. Many of the affected residents came together to form Freuchie Flood Action Group, a single action group dedicated to improving flood protection and prevention in Freuchie.

Letham is a small village in Fife, Scotland, located just off the A92, around 5 miles from Cupar. According to the 2001 Census, Letham has 138 residents, although this has without a doubt increased in the previous years. Its school, Letham Primary School, educates around 35 pupils, between the ages of 5 and 12. The school building itself is over 130 years old, and built mainly from sandstone which was quarried only 200 metres away from the school. Cunnoquhie House is a late 18th-century classical mansion located just north of Letham. It was built for George Paterson of Cunnoquhie, and is a category A listed building.

Pitlessie is a small village in Cults, Fife, Scotland. It is roughly 4+1⁄2 miles (7 km) southwest of the nearest large town, Cupar, and 23 miles (37 kilometres) north of Edinburgh. It had an estimated population of 325 in 2010.Situated in the heart of the Howe of Fife, the village was mainly concerned with the linen industry and agriculture - the primary employers in many villages in the along the River Eden. Pitlessie's roots can be traced back at least as far as the 13th century, with it being created twice a free burgh of barony. Other industries such as mining and malting also employed many in the village, though these, along with the post office and village shop, have since ceased. Now, based along the A914, the village primarily serves commuters employed in the surrounding towns and cities, with a village inn the sole notable amenity of Pitlessie, attracting tourists and locals alike.

Birnie Loch is located in North East Fife, Scotland, adjacent to the crossroads between the A91 and B937 roads. It is entirely artificial in nature, being a flooded pit formerly used for the extraction of sand or gravel.The extraction company decided to present the exhausted flooded pit to the local authority as a potential public resource. A competition was held to name it, and the name Birnie Loch was proposed by a local schoolgirl. This piece of water was the first in a series of such in the immediate vicinity to be so presented to the community, and the (younger) neighbouring Gadden Lochs have become a wildfowl preserve, complete with an observation hut for birdwatchers. Birnie Loch is also a preserve, but public access to the banks is not fenced off as it is for most of the neighbouring waters for the benefit of breeding birds. It has now matured into a small loch of albeit semi-cultivated appearance, and has been colonised by many varieties of wildlife including birds, fish, invertebrates, and water-loving plants of many sorts. The loch was Supreme Winner in the 1994 Scottish Environmental Regeneration Awards, the 1997 UEPG European Restoration Awards, and the 1998 Quarry Products Association Restoration Award.
