Algonquin Commons is an outdoor shopping mall, or lifestyle center, located along Randall Road in Algonquin, Illinois, a northwest suburb of Chicago. The mall is located in Kane County, Illinois, just south of the McHenry County line. The center includes over 50 retailers and restaurants and 600,000 total square feet. The tenants in the center are varied, from discount clothiers, to specialty gift shops, to popular national fashion chains, to local independent shops, to big-box retailers and upscale restaurants. It was built in 2004. The Algonquin Commons provides Algonquin with 1,700 jobs and over $1 million in sales tax revenue. The Algonquin Commons was built by Jeffrey R. Anderson, the same developer who built the Geneva Commons, which is located in Geneva, Illinois. In early 2013, U.S. Bank filed to foreclose on Algonquin Commons after then-owner Inland Properties ceased payments. The property is now owned by McKinley. The Commons is also notable for its chic, upscale appearance, including outdoor lighting, lush landscaping, sidewalks and brick pavers to connect the various buildings in the center, outdoor music, individually designed storefronts, benches, and a number of special events held throughout the year, including public art displays, celebrity guest appearances, summer concerts, the Touch-a-Truck event, and horse-drawn carriage rides during the holidays.

Harry D. Jacobs High School (commonly referred to as Jacobs or HDJ) is a public high school for students in grades 9 through 12 located in Algonquin, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, serving students from the west half of the Village of Algonquin and its surrounding areas, including Lake in the Hills, Gilberts, some of Sleepy Hollow, some of Carpentersville, and some of West Dundee. The school is located in McHenry County but also draws students from Northern Kane County. Harry D. Jacobs High School is part of Community Unit School District 300, and one of three high schools serving the district. Feeder schools to Jacobs include Westfield Community School and Dundee Middle School (partial). The school is a member of the Illinois High School Association, Fox Valley Conference.

Gilberts is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 8,366 at the 2020 census.

Algonquin is a village in McHenry and Kane counties, Illinois, in the United States. It is a suburb of Chicago, located approximately 40 miles (64 km) northwest of the Loop. As of the 2020 census, the village's population was 29,700. The village is known as "The Gem of the Fox River Valley", referring to the location of its downtown.

Lake in the Hills (often abbreviated L.I.T.H. or LITH) is a village in McHenry County, Illinois, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 28,982. The village is most known for its very high residential growth which occurred most heavily in the 1990s. Once a sleepy lakeside village of cottages and small ranches, its population skyrocketed as developers flocked to the area in the 1990s. Its population increased by 17,000 people (a nearly 400% increase) over this period, making it one of the most rapidly growing suburbs of Chicago and in the United States at that time. At the height of its building boom, the village issued over 1,000 residential building permits in 1995. In the late 1990s, the village faced the challenge of providing adequate services and infrastructure as well as establishing an identity and community unity, since many community services (libraries, schools, fire districts) were pre-delegated to neighboring communities such as Huntley, Algonquin and Crystal Lake. However, the village continues to expand its resources and community offerings and is also endeavoring to diversify its tax base and provide more commercial and industrial businesses.

West Dundee is a village in Kane County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,686 as of the 2020 US Census. It is considered a far northwest Chicago suburb. West Dundee lies across the Fox River from East Dundee and Carpentersville.

Meadowdale International Raceway was a race track located in Carpentersville, Illinois. It was used for motor racing from 1958 to 1968.

The Christian Geister House is a historic residence in Algonquin, Illinois.

St. Mary's Church of Gilberts is a historic church in Gilberts, Illinois. The Catholic church was built for the increasing population in the town in the late 19th century. The church is an excellent example of the rural Stick Style designs that some churches developed in the 1880s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1992.

Dundee Township occupies the 6-mile (9.7 km) square in the Northeast corner of Kane County, Illinois. It includes West and East Dundee, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, Gilberts and portions of Elgin, Barrington Hills, Hoffman Estates, and Algonquin. It is divided by the Fox River. As of the 2010 census, its population was 64,167 and it contained 21,635 housing units.

WAWY (103.9 FM) is a non-commercial FM radio station licensed to Dundee, Illinois, and serving the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. The station is owned by the Educational Media Foundation, and carries its "Air1" contemporary worship music network. The station is listener-supported and seeks donations on the air. WAWY has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 6,000 watts. Its transmitter is located in Gilberts, Illinois.

Spring Hill Mall is a shopping mall in West Dundee, Illinois. The mall's anchor tenants are Kohl's and Cinemark. There are four vacant anchor stores that were once Carson Pirie Scott, Sears, Macy's, and Barnes & Noble.
