Hesaraghatta Lake is a manmade reservoir located 18 km to the north-west of Bengaluru in Karnataka state, India. It is a fresh water lake created in the year 1894 across the Arkavathy River to meet the drinking water needs of the city. Sir K. Seshadri Iyer, the then Dewan of erstwhile Mysore state and the then Chief Engineer of Mysuru, M. C. Hutchins, planned to build the scheme called the "Chamarajendra Water Works" to store a three-years' water supply to the city.

Mavallipura is a village to the north of Bangalore. A part of the village, about 15 km (9.3 mi) north of the main part of the city was used as an illegal landfill from 2003 to 2015 resulting in an ecological disaster. The village of Mavallipura had about a population of about 4500 with many involved in livestock rearing, grazing sheep, goat and cattle on the common grazing lands. Mavallipura was used from around 2003 to dump about four million tonnes of garbage (at about 1000 tonnes a day in that period) to become a large heap 40 m high and spread over several hectares. In the early years, the BBMP paid and signed a contract with a local farmer to dump garbage on his site, and it was discovered later that the land on which they dumped actually belonged to the Karnataka Forest Department. A larger plot of former grazing land was later leased out to a company called Ramky. The landfill was then operated by Ramky and garbage came from the Bangalore metropolitan authority or BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike). The company was set up in a position to handle 500 tons per day but even in the early days the inputs were as much as 1000 tons/day and rose to an estimated 3600 tons/day in 2015. In 2017, the garbage production of the city rose 4500 ton per day. The site was not identified by any administrative body based on public discussions and it was within the catchment of the Arkavathy river which flows into Kaveri which in turn supplies drinking water to the city of Bangalore. The toxic leachate from the unlined landfill site polluted the local lake and groundwater, resulting in deaths of villagers by kidney failure, cancer, and a range of illnesses. Burning of the garbage produced toxic fumes and flies were a major nuisance. The local population included many dalits and their voices were unheard. The open garbage attracted large scavenging birds like black kites resulted in a birdhit that caused the death of a pilot and posed a constant risk to Indian Air Force aircraft landing at the Yelahanka airbase. Livestock morbidity was high and after numerous complaints, the Karnataka Pollution Control Board took notice in 2012 and passed an order to stop the dumping. This resulted in garbage accumulation within the city of Bangalore and a crisis was recognized in 2014. However the dumping continued and in August 2015, a protester from the village, which had decided to blockade the garbage trucks, died of shock after facing police. The site operations were shut down only after being visited by a group of judges. One of the results of the case was that Bangalore became the first Indian metro to establish a solid waste management plan.Studies on the movement of leached pollutants predict that they will flow along the hydraulic gradients of the area and pollute the groundwater in the vicinity.

Nrityagram is India's first modern Gurukul (residential school) for Indian classical dances and an intentional community in the form of a dance village, set up by Odissi dancer Protima Gauri in 1990. The residential school offers training in Indian classical dance forms, Odissi, Mohiniattam, Kathak, Bharatnatyam, Kuchipudi, Kathakali and Manipuri, eight hours a day, six days a week for seven years, following the ancient Guru-shishya tradition. Designed by famous Indian architect Gerard da Cunha, the community is situated near Hesaraghatta Lake 30 km from Bengaluru. Today the Nrityagram Dance Ensemble has performed across India and in many countries abroad.

Chikkabanavara is a town in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India. It is located in the Bangalore North taluk of Bangalore Urban district in Karnataka. It has one of the oldest surviving lakes in Bangalore. The lake is located at a distance of 1.5 km north of Chikkabanavara railway station on the Bangalore-Tumkur railway line.

It is one of the several institutes run by the JMJ Education Society. Abbigere is a village in the southern state of Karnataka, India. It is located in the Bangalore North taluk of Bangalore district in Karnataka.

Bangalore North Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 28 Lok Sabha (lower house of the Indian Parliament) constituencies in the South Indian state of Karnataka. This constituency has been known by different names in its history. For the 1951 and every election since 1977 it has been known as Bangalore North. For the 1957 and 1962 elections it was known as Bangalore City. For the 1967 and 1971 elections it formed a constituency jointly with Bangalore South and was known as Bangalore. From 1951–73, this constituency resided in Mysore State. On 1 November 1973, Mysuru State was renamed as Karnataka.Bangalore North held its first elections in 1951 and its first member of parliament (MP) was Keshava Iyengar of the Indian National Congress (INC). He was re-elected in the next election in 1957. K. Hanumanthaiya also of the INC represented this constituency for three consecutive terms from 1962 to 1977. C. K. Jaffer Sharief of the INC was its MP for five consecutive terms from 1977–1996 before being denied ticket in the 1996 election. C. Narayanaswamy of the Janata Dal party defeated Mohammed Obedulla Sharief.This brought to an end a 45-year period where this constituency had been represented by a member of the INC from 1951–96. Sharief became the MP once again in 1998. He was also re-elected in 1999 to serve his seventh term as MP for this constituency. H. T. Sangliana of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) represented this constituency in 2004. D. B. Chandre Gowda also of the BJP was elected in the 2009 election. As of the latest elections in 2019, its current MP is D. V. Sadananda Gowda of the BJP who was also the incumbent Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers. Of the 17 elections held in this constituency, the most successful party is the INC who have won on 12 occasions.

Sai Vidya Institute of Technology (SVIT) is an engineering college in Yelahanka, Bangalore, India. It was ranked 35th in the Top 100 T-Schools (private) and 53rd in Top 100 T-Schools (overall) in the All India T Schools Survey conducted by Data Quest Magazine. Among colleges in Karnataka it was 7th and 9th respectively in the ranking lists. Established in 2008, SVIT offers six undergraduate courses and one post-graduate course and is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University. The institution is accredited by AICTE, NBA (New Delhi) and recognized by the government of Karnataka.

Singapura is a historic locality in northwestern Bengaluru, with evidence indicating human habitation dating back to 2,500 to 3,000 years. Singapura is renowned for the Varadarajaswamy Temple. Historically, it was referred to as the Tiruvengalanatha Temple. This revered temple has a history spanning over 500 years, documented in inscriptions found in neighboring villages of Chikkabettahalli and Harohalli, dating to the 16th century. These inscriptions, along with others from Singapura itself, record grants made to the Ramanujakoota, a prominent Sri Vaishnavite religious organization established in honor of Ramanujacharya. Notably, the name Singapura is mentioned in an inscription dated to 1528 CE. The 1915 map shows Singapura as a vast revenue village, encompassing two lakes, a pond, eight wells, three water holes, and five hillocks. Covering seven kilometers in perimeter and 3.3 square kilometers(815 acres), the village was substantial. The 1871 Mysore state Census recorded 34 homes and 133 residents in Singapura. Today, this historic area is home to over 40,000 people.

B.M.S. Institute of Technology (Autonomous) is a private engineering college in Yelahanka, Bangalore, India. It was started in 2002 by Bhusanayana Mukundadas Sreenivasaiah Institute of Technology (BMSIT) and is run by the B.M.S. Educational Trust. It is affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University and became autonomous in 2020 .BMSIT is located on Dodballapura Road, Yelahanka, diagonally opposite to the Halli saviruchi (ಹಳ್ಳಿ ಸವಿರುಚಿ). Though a private college, it is partially funded by the Government of Karnataka.
