The Berchtesgaden Hochthron is the highest peak of the Untersberg massif in the Berchtesgaden Alps in Berchtesgaden, Bavaria, Germany. The summit of the Berchtesgaden Hochthron offers one of the best views of the Berchtesgaden region, because it has an unobstructed view over the Berchtesgaden valley as well as all nine massifs of the Berchtesgaden Alps, the Chiemgau Alps, the Austrian mountains of the Salzkammergut and the Tennengebirge.

The Schellenberg Ice Cave is a cave located in the Berchtesgaden Alps in Upper Bavaria, Germany, near the Austrian border. The cave belongs to the Untersberg massif, at 1570 metres above sea level, and is the only ice cave open in Germany. It has an estimated ice volume of about 60,000 cubic meters and has been run as a show cave since 1925. The explored length of the ice cave is 3,621 meters, of which, 500 meters is a guided tour at temperatures near zero degrees Celsius. Closed between October and May, the ice cave can only be reached after a several-hour walk from the valley below, or a slightly shorter walk from the mountain station of the Untersbergbahn. It is one of two show caves in Germany without electric light, illuminated only by carbide lamps carried by the visitors. It is named after Marktschellenberg, a nearby town in Berchtesgadener Land district. In 1826, it was first mentioned in writing, and fully explored by 1874.

The Berchtesgaden Chancellery Branch office (also "Little Reich Chancellery") in Bischofswiesener district Stanggaß was built between 1937 and 1945 after plans by Alois Degano as the second seat of government of the Nazi German Empire for the time of Adolf Hitler's presence on nearby Obersalzberg. The buildings of the Reich Chancellery and the bunkers and the northeast vehicle hall are listed buildings. All buildings are now privately owned and used as residential buildings.

The double municipality had been founded in 1948 of the places Wals and Siezenheim. In the same year the arm had been conferred. The population figure rose up from 1,000 inhabitants in 1947 to approximately 11,000 in 2001. Previous Wals was part of the separate municipality Siezenheim, but even so Liefering and a giant part of Taxach.

Berchtesgaden (German pronunciation: [ˈbɛʁçtəsˌɡaːdn̩]) is a municipality in the district Berchtesgadener Land, Bavaria, in southeastern Germany, near the border with Austria, 30 km (19 mi) south of Salzburg and 180 km (110 mi) southeast of Munich. It lies in the Berchtesgaden Alps. South of the town, the Berchtesgaden National Park stretches along three parallel valleys. The Kehlstein mountain (1,835 m or 6,020 ft), with its Kehlsteinhaus (Eagle's Nest), is located in the area.

Berchtesgaden Hauptbahnhof (German for Berchtesgaden main station; sometimes translated as "Central Station") is a railway station in the Bavarian market town of Berchtesgaden, the smallest town in Germany with a Hauptbahnhof. It has five platform tracks and is classified by Deutsche Bahn as a category 5 station. It is the terminus of the Freilassing–Berchtesgaden railway. Previously the Berchtesgaden–Hangender Stein railway, also called the Grüne Elektrische (“Green Electric”) started from the station. Within walking distance of the station (Triftplatz) was the former station (Königsseer Bf) of Königssee Railway (German: Königsseebahn), which served the lake of Königssee. The station is served by about 20 trains daily operated by Deutsche Bahn and the Berchtesgadener Land Bahn.

The Königsseer Ache is a river of Bavaria, in south-east Germany. At its confluence with the Ramsauer Ache in Berchtesgaden, the Berchtesgadener Ache is formed. It passes through the lake Königssee.
