Munslow (hundred)

Munslow is a small village and civil parish in Shropshire, England. It is situated on the B4368, 7 miles (11 km) northeast of the small town of Craven Arms, in the Corvedale, at around 140 metres (460 ft) above sea level. The village formed part of and gave its name to the hundred of Munslow which had various local administrative and legal functions for centuries, until the Local Government Act 1894.

Culvestan was a hundred of Shropshire, England. Formed during Anglo-Saxon England, it encompassed manors in central southern Shropshire, and was amalgamated during the reign of Henry I (1100 to 1135) with the neighbouring hundred of Patton to form the Munslow hundred. The hundred of Culvestan centred on the lower Corvedale but also included the Strettondale, and stretched from Cardington in the north to Ashford in the south. At the time of the Domesday Book (1086) it betwixt Leintwardine hundred (which stretched northwards in the vicinity of the Roman road towards Wroxeter). The manors of Aldon, Bromfield, Stanton and Stokesay were notably well-populated manors in Culvestan as recorded in the Book. Stanton had the greatest population in the county measured by number of households, as well as the fourth-greatest monetary value. The four, plus Onibury, occupied an expansive area at the confluences of the Corve and Onny with the River Teme.

Millichope Park is a 19th-century country house in Munslow, Shropshire, England, some 5 miles (8 km) south-east of Church Stretton. The house was built in the Greek Revival style between 1835 and 1840 by architect Edward Haycock of Shrewsbury for Revd. Norgrave Pemberton, Rector of Church Stretton. Constructed of ashlar to a rectangular plan, it is a two-storey building with a five window frontage. The entrance is a pedimented portico supported by six Ionic pillars. The house is Grade II* listed and stands in 90 hectares (220 acres) of landscaped parkland.A memorial temple within the grounds is also Grade II* listed. Built by George Steurt, it has a leaden dome supported by eight Ionic pilasters. It is a memorial cenotaph to the More family.

Peaton is a hamlet in the civil parish of Diddlebury in Shropshire, England. It is situated in the Corvedale, between Diddlebury and Bouldon. The Pye Brook flows past the hamlet, with Peaton Bridge taking the Bouldon-Diddlebury lane across it. The hamlet lies at 124 metres (407 ft) above sea level. A smaller hamlet called Peatonstrand lies further towards Bouldon at grid reference SO539845; it is partly situated in the valley of the Strand Brook and partly along the lane to Bouldon where the Strand has its confluence with the larger Pye Brook.The towns of Ludlow and Craven Arms are both about 7 miles (11 km) distant, by road.

The Corvedale Three Castles Walk is a waymarked recreational circular walk of about 11.5 miles (18.5 km) located in the Corvedale, Shropshire, England. The walk is classed as Easy and Heritage by the Long Distance Walkers Association. The walk nominally starts (and ends) at the public car park opposite the Swan Inn in Aston Munslow, but other starting points are possible although parking is limited. The walk goes past Broncroft Castle (52.476422°N 2.672107°W / 52.476422; -2.672107 (Broncroft Castle)), Corfham Castle (earthworks) (52.460758°N 2.700383°W / 52.460758; -2.700383 (Corfham Castle)), and Corfton Castle (earthworks) (52.458237°N 2.740205°W / 52.458237; -2.740205 (Corfton Castle)). A leaflet is available detailing the walk and can be obtained from some local pubs and retailers. Some bed and breakfasts also have it available. In addition there is a book Castle and Corvedale available from the same sources.

The White House in Aston Munslow, Shropshire, England is a medieval hall house that has undergone considerable alteration over the centuries. It is a grade II* listed building.

Diddlebury is a small village and large civil parish in Shropshire, England. It is situated in the Corvedale on the B4368 road about 5 miles (8 km) north east of Craven Arms. The population of the Civil Ward in 2011 was 670.

Bouldon is a hamlet in Shropshire, England. It lies in the civil parish of Diddlebury. The hamlet comprises approximately 14 houses, a number of agricultural buildings and a public house named the "Tally Ho". It is 8.5 miles (13.7 km) by road northeast of the market town of Ludlow.

Corfton is a small village in Shropshire, England, located 4.5 miles (7.2 km) east of Craven Arms and 7.5 miles (12.1 km) north of Ludlow, the two nearest towns. There is a pub, with its own small brewery (the Corvedale Brewery), called The Sun Inn.It is named after the nearby River Corve. The Corvedale Three Castles Walk runs through the village.

Rushbury railway station was a station in Rushbury, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1867 and closed in 1951. In 1892 a 15-lever signal box was added at the end of the platform. The station had two members of staff, a station master and signal man who performed all the required duties The station is now a private residence.
