Goochland, Virginia

Goochland County Public Schools is a school district which serves Goochland County, Virginia, United States. It is based in Goochland, Virginia. Enrollment hovers around 2600 students and the school division has five schools. Each of the five schools have been named Apple Distinguished Schools, 2019–2021, due to the division's strong one-to-one computing program. The superintendent is Dr. Michael Cromartie and the school board chairperson is Sandra Barefoot-Reid.

Goochland County Court Square is a historic county courthouse and national historic district located at Goochland, Goochland County, Virginia. It includes three contributing buildings and one contributing site. The Goochland County Court House was built in 1826 by Dabney Cosby, an architect of the area. It is a two-story, temple-form brick structure with a projecting pedimented tetrastyle Tuscan order portico. Other buildings in the square include the 1848 two-story, hipped-roof stone jail; the original one-story, brick clerk's office; and a monument to the Confederate dead of Goochland County. The latter was erected in the late 19th or early 20th century.The historic district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

Brightly is a historic plantation house located near Goochland, Goochland County, Virginia. The main dwelling was built about 1842, and is a two-story, single pile, central-passage-plan, gable-roofed brick dwelling in the Greek Revival style. The front facade features a one-story, one-bay Greek Revival Doric order porch. Also on the property are the contributing pair of slave dwellings, privy, granary, chicken house, barn, well house, windmill, cemetery and the gate posts.The house now serves as a small bed and breakfast. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.

J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College is a public community college in Virginia with four campuses: Parham Road Campus in Henrico County, Downtown Campus in Richmond, Goochland Campus in Goochland Courthouse, Virginia, and The Kitchens at Reynolds in Richmond. Maidens (or Maiden's Adventure) is a small unincorporated community in Goochland County, Virginia, United States. Sited on the north side of the James River, it is currently located at the junction of U.S. Route 522, State Route 6, and State Route 634.

The Dover Slave Quarter Complex is a set of five historic structures located on Brookview Farm near Manakin-Sabot, Goochland County, Virginia. They were built as one-story, two-unit, brick structures with steep gable roofs for housing African-American slaves. The houses are arranged in a wide arc, measuring 360 ft (110 m) in length. The center dwelling had a frame second-story added and its brick walls covered by siding when it was converted to an overseer's house. It has a recent rear addition. In addition to the center dwelling, one of the former slave dwellings serves as the farm office, one serves as a woodworking shop, and the remaining two are used for storage. Also on the farm are the two early 20th-century contributing farm structures; one is an impressively long dairy barn, and there are two tenant houses, silos, and storage buildings.The structures were listed as a group on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Lock-Keeper's House is a historic home located near Cedar Point, Goochland County, Virginia. It was built about 1836, and is a two-story frame structure resting on a stone foundation of whitewashed, rough-faced, uncoursed ashlar. It has a shallow gable roof and a shed roof porch that extends the length of the building. It was built to serve Lock Number 7 at Cedar Point and is the last remaining lock-keeper's house of the James River and Kanawha Canal system. It addition to being a residence, the lock-keeper's house served as a tavern and furnished accommodations for passengers and canal boat crews.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Beaumont is an unincorporated community in Powhatan County, in the U.S. state of Virginia. Beaumont has its own postal zip code, 23014. The Beaumont Correctional Center is now an adult residential facility operated by the Virginia Department of Corrections in the Central Region. It is a median level security prison (level 3 out of 5). Google Maps incorrectly places the facility at the James River Detention Center and after a year of suggested edits will not change the location.

It consists of a two-story, five-bay, central-passage frame structure built in 1811, with a two-story rear brick addition built about 1839. The front facade features a two-tier portico. The main block has a gable roof and exterior end chimneys. The property was acquired in 1937 by "Beaumont Farms" as a reform school for boys. The property is under the jurisdiction of the Virginia Department of Corrections and serves as the Beaumont Learning Center.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Mount Bernard Complex, also known as Lightfoot's Beaverdam Plantation and Kameschatka, is a historic plantation house and farm complex located near Maidens, Goochland County, Virginia. The main dwelling was built about 1850, and consists of a central gabled pavilion is flanked by subsidiary wings. It sits on a stone foundation dating to the 18th century. The house was altered in the 1920s in the Classical Revival style. Additions in the 1920s and 1940s to the sides and rear have subsequently turned the original T-shaped plan into a rectangle. Also on the property are the contributing two secondary dwellings, a slave quarters / kitchen, an ice house and cool chamber, a large barn / stable, two smaller stables, a corn crib, an equipment shelter, and a well house.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
