Wangen District is one of the 26 administrative districts in the canton of Bern, Switzerland. Its capital is the municipality of Wangen an der Aare. From 1 January 2010, the district lost its administrative power while being replaced by the Oberaargau administrative district, whose administrative centre is Wangen an der Aare. Since 2010, it remains therefore a fully recognised district under the law and the Constitution (Art.3 al.2) of the Canton of Berne. The district has an area of 129 km² and consists of 23 municipalities. ^a In 2009, the municipalities of Wanzwil and Röthenbach bei Herzogenbuchsee became part of the municipality of Heimenhausen ^b In 2008 Oberönz became part of Herzogenbuchsee

Wangen an der Aare

Wangen an der Aare is a municipality in the Oberaargau administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. On 1 January 2024 the former municipality of Wangenried merged to form the municipality of Wangen an der Aare. This small town lies between Olten and Solothurn in rural surroundings on the Aare, a major river of the west-central lowland region of Switzerland, the Mittelland. An ancient wooden covered bridge crosses the Aare at this point. Wangen an der Aare was the administrative centre of the former district of the same name.

Deitingen railway station

Deitingen railway station (German: Bahnhof Deitingen) is a railway station in the municipality of Deitingen, in the Swiss canton of Solothurn. It is an intermediate stop on the standard gauge Jura Foot line and is served by local trains only. Before the modification of the station around 1998, there were both a western and an eastern siding for freight and infrastructure movements. When those were dismantled, all the switches were removed as well.
