The Kenya Institute of Social Work and Community Development (KISWCD) is a community-focused development and training institution without any governmental, religious or political affiliation. It was registered by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on 22 August 2002 as a training institution. In 2016; in line with the TVET Act 2013, the institution was assessed and licensed to operate by TVETA Registration TVETA/PRIVATE/TVC/0120/2016. The institute is managed by a Board of Governors who are experienced in the areas of social work, educational institutions management, business management, human resources management, finance and accounting, psychology, environmental health, counselling and law. KISWCD is an examination centre for Kenya National Examination Council, the Institute of Commercial Management, CDAAC, the Association of Business Managers and Administrators among others. The institution offers certificate and diploma courses in Community Development, Social Work and Welfare, Project Management, Community Health and Counseling. Short courses and consultancy services are available. Students from Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Sudan, Somalia and Ethiopia are among those who have enrolled in KISWCD. In the last 22 years, the institution has distinguished itself as a Centre of excellence; drawing students from virtually all major NGOs, Government departments and the Private sector. Foreign students from Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique, Sudan, Somalia, Malawi and Ethiopia have continued to enroll in KISWCD signifying the confidence that the region has in the institution. Empowerment of the community through training and management is the basic foundation of the institute. The main campus is located at Southern House, 2nd floor, off Moi Avenue opposite the Meridian Hotel, Nairobi.

Pumwani is an estate of Nairobi. In 2005 it had an estimated population of 29,616.The Pumwani Maternity Hospital is located in Pumwani. It is the largest public maternity hospital in Kenya.Many Kenyan freedom fighters are known to have lived in Pumwani including the first and the second presidents, Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi. It is also the place where Lord Burden Powell founded the first scouts movement in the interior of Africa. The St. John's Church is also located in Pumwani. It is the seat of St. John's Archdeaconry of Anglican Church of Kenya.

Starehe is a neighbourhood in the city of Nairobi. It is approximately 2.6 kilometres (1.6 mi) east of the central business district of Nairobi. It is one of the oldest estates in Nairobi.

Starehe Boys' Centre and School (popularly known as "Starehe") is a partial-board, boys-only school in Nairobi, Kenya. The school was founded in 1959 by Dr. Geoffrey William Griffin, MBS, OBE, Geoffrey Gatama Geturo and Joseph Kamiru Gikubu. It started as a rescue centre in Nairobi. Starehe and Brookhouse School are the only African schools south of the Sahara and north of the Limpopo distinguished as Round Square members.

Shauri Moyo is a low-income neighbourhood in Pumwani in the city of Nairobi. It is approximately 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) southeast of the central business district of Nairobi. It is one of the oldest estates in Nairobi.

Gor Mahia Football Club ( (listen)), commonly also known as K'Ogalo (Dholuo for '"Son of Ogalo"'), is a football club based in Nairobi, Kenya. They have won the Kenyan Premier League a record 19 times, and have also won the FKF President's Cup a record 11 times. They are the only team from Kenya to win an African continental title to date, having won the African Cup Winners' Cup in 1987 after previously reaching the final in 1979.The club was formally established on 17 February 1968 as a merger of Luo Union and Luo Sports Club (also known as Luo Stars) and won the national league at the first time of asking. Some of its original leaders were politicians Tom Mboya and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga. However the club was founded much earlier, in the 1915, and participated intermittently in local tournaments in Western Kenya. Various groups used this name at different times. The club plays its home games at the Nairobi City Stadium. Alternatively they also play their home games at the Moi International Sports Centre and the Nyayo National Stadium. It has been proposed that the club hosts some of its home matches at its alternate stadiums in its earlier days, the Kisumu County Stadium and the Mombasa Municipal Stadium.The club won the Kenya National Football league in 1968, having been formally founded only in February of the same year. In 1976, Gor Mahia won the national league unbeaten, and repeated the same feat 39 years later under the leadership of Frank Nuttall.Towards the end of the 2000s, Gor started bouncing back to fame steadily bringing Kenyan football fans back to the pitch and regularly filling sold-out stadiums. The club returned to silverware in 2008 when it won the KFF Cup after a thirteen-year drought of any major trophies. Gor proceeded to win the Kenya DSTV Super Cup against the year's defending champs, Mathare United before the beginning of the 2009 KPL season. On 26 October 2011 Gor Mahia in typically dominant fashion trounced Sofapaka to win the 2011 edition of the FKL Cup having dispatched their archrivals AFC Leopards 6 days earlier in a 20 October Heroes Day thriller.

Bahati is an estate in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Administratively, it was a location in Pumwani division of Nairobi and Kamukunji Constituency. After the revision of constituency boundaries, Bahati was moved to Makadara Constituency. In 2005 the Bahati location had an estimated population of 55,082.

Ukwala Supermarkets, often referred to simply as Ukwala, is supermarket chain in Kenya, the largest economy in the East African Community. The supermarket chain is a subsidiary of Choppies, a retail conglomerate based in Gaborone, Botswana.

Sir Ali Muslim Club Ground is a cricket ground in Nairobi, Kenya. The first recorded match at the ground took place in 1994, when Young Kenya played Bangladesh in a warm-up match for the ICC Trophy, which Kenya was hosting. During the Trophy itself, the ground was the venue for seven matches, involving various national teams.In 2003, the ground held its first List A matches when Kenya played Sri Lanka A in a two-match series. The following year, the third List A match was held there, when Kenya played Pakistan A. As part of the series with Pakistan A, a first-class match was also played between the sides, which resulted in a drawn match. In addition, the ground has played host to Kenya Women.The ground is owned by the Sir Ali Muslim Club, a club founded in 1934 by the local Muslim community, which consisted mostly of people from across the Indian subcontinent. Besides cricket, the club offers football, hockey, tennis, squash and volleyball.The club is named in honour of the wealthy administrator, the Hon. Sir Ali bin Salim, K.B.E., C.M.G., who helped to fund and provide advice to the club. Sir Ali was a provincial governor on Swahili Coast of the British East Africa Protectorate, during the condominium between the Sultan of Zanzibar and the British and, later, an official Member of the Legislative Council [MLC].

The August 7th Memorial Park is located at the 1998 United States embassy bombings scene along Haile Selassie Avenue[1] in Nairobi, Kenya. It contains a notice board listing the names of all people that were reported dead after the incident.
