Kongshamn

Eydehavn or Eydehamn is a village in the municipality of Arendal in Agder county, Norway. The village is located about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) northeast of the centre of the town of Arendal, about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) northeast of the village of Saltrød, about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) south of the village of Strengereid, and just across the Tromøysundet strait from Kongshamn on the island of Tromøy. The village is named after Sam Eyde, the Norwegian engineer and industrialist. The local sports team is called IL Sørfjell and have teen teams in a variety of sports. Eydehavn has about 1,100 residents as of 2015.

Åmdalsøyra or Omdalsøyra is a village in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway, along the Tromøysundet strait on the northern shore of the island of Tromøy. The village of Kongshavn lies just to the southwest of Åmdalsøyra, and the village of Eydehavn lies just across the strait on the mainland.

Stokken Church (Norwegian: Stokken kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Arendal Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Saltrød. It is one of the churches for the Moland parish which is part of the Arendal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1878 using plans drawn up by the architect Johan Christoff Friedrich Reuter. The church seats about 400 people.

Stokken is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The 11-square-kilometre (4.2 sq mi) municipality existed from 1919 until 1962 when it was merged into the newly-created Moland municipality. Today, the area is a part of the present-day municipality of Arendal in Agder county. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Eydehavn. The Stokken Church was the main church for the small municipality located just outside the town of Arendal.

Saltrød is a village in Arendal municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian County Road 410, about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) northeast of the town of Arendal and about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) southwest of the village of Eydehavn. The village lies along the Tromøysundet strait, looking across the water towards the island of Tromøy. Stokken Church is located in Saltrød.

Tromøy Church (Norwegian: Tromøy kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Arendal Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Brekka on the east coast of the island of Tromøy. It is one of the churches for the Tromøy parish which is part of the Arendal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, stone church was built around the year 1150 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 290 people. This was the main church for the municipality of Tromøy from 1878 until its dissolution in 1992.The church was originally built in a long church design around the year 1150 and over the centuries it was enlarged and expanded. In 1748, the church was converted into a cruciform design by the architect Ole Nielsen Weierholt. As a medieval building, it automatically has protected cultural heritage status.

Tromøy (historic: Tromø) is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The 30-square-kilometre (12 sq mi) municipality existed from 1878 until its dissolution in 1992. The municipal area is now part of the municipality of Arendal in Agder county. The administrative centre was the village of Brekka, where the historic Tromøy Church is located. The municipality encompassed all of the island of Tromøya as well as many smaller surrounding islands such as Merdø, Gjesøya, Skilsøy, and Tromlingene.The municipality had two churches: the centuries-old Tromøy Church and the relatively new Færvik Church. Some of the main villages in Tromøy were Færvik, Brekka, Brattekleiv, Sandnes, Revesand, and Pusnes. The municipality was connected to the mainland by the Tromøy Bridge, the only road connection to Tromøya. The other islands of Tromøy were only accessible by boat.

Tromøya (Urban East Norwegian: [ˈtrʊ̂mːœʏɑ]) or Tromøy (Urban East Norwegian: [ˈtrʊ̂mːœʏ]) (historic: Tromø) is the largest island in Southern Norway. The 28.6-square-kilometre (11.0 sq mi) island is entirely located in the municipality of Arendal in Agder county, Norway. The island has about 5,300 residents (in 2015) which gives it a population density of about 185 inhabitants per square kilometre (480/sq mi). The island is located directly across the harbor from the town of Arendal. The highest point on the island is the 95-metre (312 ft) tall Vardåsen. The island is separated from the mainland to the north by the Tromøysundet strait and it is separated from the island of Hisøya to the southwest by the Galtesundet strait. The 400-metre (1,300 ft) long Tromøy Bridge (Norwegian: Tromøybroa) is the suspension bridge that has been the only road connection to the mainland since it was completed in 1961. There is also a passenger ferry that takes six minutes to transport riders from Skilsø to the town of Arendal. The company Aker Pusnes is located in Pusnes. It is a designer and supplier of all types of deck machinery and mooring systems for marine and offshore applications. Historically, the island belonged to the municipality of Østre Moland until 1878. From 1878 until 1992, the island was part of the municipality of Tromøy. Since 1992, the island has been a part of the municipality of Arendal.

The Tromøy Bridge (Norwegian: Tromøybrua) is a suspension bridge that crosses the Tromøysundet strait in the municipality of Arendal in Agder county, Norway. It connects the island of Tromøya with the mainland, about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) northeast of the town of Arendal. The bridge is part of Norwegian County Road 409 and it opened on 21 October 1961 by Trygve Bratteli, the Minister of Transport and Communications. The bridge originally cost 7 million kr. The 400-metre (1,300 ft) long bridge has 12 spans, the longest of which is 240 metres (790 ft). The bridge has a 37 metres (121 ft) high clearance underneath it so ships may pass under it. In 2008, the annual average daily traffic was 8,350 cars per day. Its building was prepared by a special committee which was chaired by Christian Stray during its entire existence from 1938 to 1961.

The Hove Festival (Norwegian: Hovefestivalen) was a music festival held on the island Tromøya outside of Arendal in southern Norway. It was held for the first time from 26 to 30 June 2007. Running for eight years and at one time the largest music festival in Norway, Hove Festival was discontinued after its 2014 show due to negative profits. Hove Festival was acquired by Festival Republic in 2008 after going bankrupt. As with other Festival Republic events, there were no age restrictions, and children under the age of 12 were admitted free of charge.Hove strove to be an environmentally neutral festival, both buying carbon offset quotes for all power and transportation used during and prior to the festival, and sorting and recycling all trash produced by the event. Preparation for the festival relied heavily on volunteer work. In 2010 there were a total of 2,500 people volunteering for security, stage hand, drivers, kitchen duty and post-festival cleanup. Hove consisted of several different areas such as the camp area, festival area and "zero" area. The camp held up to 10,000 campers and was open throughout the festival. The festival area, including the shopping street, was open to everyone who had a day bracelet or festival bracelet. The zero area, which has several fast-food shops, was open to everyone with or without bracelet. The festival had three main performance stages: Hovescenen, Amfiscenen and Teltscenen (tent stage), with Hovescenen being the largest. One of the more prominent acts at Hovescenen was Muse in 2010.

Hove Farm (Norwegian: Hove gård) is an original undivided farm (matrikkelgård) on the southwest part of the island of Tromøy in the municipality of Arendal in Aust-Agder county, Norway. The farm is located on a headland, with the sea behind it to the southeast and facing Hove Bay (Hovekilen) to the northwest. Hove Bay is a protected marine area, accessible only to small vessels. The islands of Merdø and Gjesøya lies closest to Hove. Until 1942, Hove Farm had a single registration number and a single owner. The farm was purchased by the state in 1942, and was then used by the German occupation forces during the Second World War. Today the farm belongs to the municipality of Arendal.: 64 The farmhouse dates from 1725 and was built after the original structure at the site burned. Below the farm there were one or two cotter's farms in the past, when a tannery operated at the farm in the early 1800s.: 67–68 

Raet is the largest terminal moraine in Scandinavia. It was formed during the end of the last glacial period, 12,800–11,500 years ago, in one of the latest advances of the glaciers. The moraine system extends from Finland, where it is known as Salpausselkä, through Sweden into Østfold in southeast Norway, across the Oslofjord and around the tip of southern Norway, where Raet National Park is located in Agder, then north to northern Norway and the Kola Peninsula in northwest Russia. In several regions there is more than one moraine, an older on the coast or underwater and a younger further inland. The moraines have created numerous lakes by damming watercourses, and several stretches have been used as roads since ancient times. In Norway, both Raet National Park and Jomfruland National Park are along the moraine.
