Wolderwijd

Zeewolde (Dutch pronunciation: [zeːˈʋɔldə] ) is a municipality and a town in the Flevoland province in the central Netherlands. It has a population of approximately 22,000 (2017). It is situated in the polder of Flevoland with the small lake called the Wolderwijd to the east. To the south is a large deciduous forest called the Horsterwold. The area to the west is principally agricultural. Zeewolde is known for its landscape and nature art. The best-known art work is Sea Level by Richard Serra, located in the De Wetering landscape park. In the Hulkesteinse forest there is the naturist resort Flevo-Natuur, with recreation bungalows, a camp site, and the possibility of day recreation.

The German invasion of the Netherlands (Dutch: Slag om Nederland) was a military campaign part of Case Yellow (German: Fall Gelb), the German invasion of the Low Countries (Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands) and France during World War II. The battle lasted from 10 May 1940 until the surrender of the main Dutch forces on 14 May. Dutch troops in the province of Zealand continued to resist the Wehrmacht until 17 May when Germany completed its occupation of the whole country. The invasion of the Netherlands saw some of the earliest mass paratroop drops, to occupy tactical points and assist the advance of ground troops. The German Luftwaffe used paratroopers in the capture of several airfields in the vicinity of Rotterdam and The Hague, helping to quickly overrun the country and immobilise Dutch forces. After the devastating bombing of Rotterdam by the Luftwaffe on 14 May, the Germans threatened to bomb other Dutch cities if the Dutch forces refused to surrender. The General Staff knew it could not stop the bombers and ordered the Dutch Army to cease hostilities. The last occupied parts of the Netherlands were liberated in 1945.

The Sovereign Principality of the United Netherlands (Dutch, old spelling: Souverein Vorstendom der Vereenigde Nederlanden) was a short-lived sovereign principality and the precursor of the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, in which it was reunited with the Southern Netherlands in 1815. The principality was proclaimed in 1813 when the victors of the Napoleonic Wars established a political reorganisation of Europe, which would eventually be defined by the Congress of Vienna.

The Dutch Ladies Open is a women's professional golf tournament on the Ladies European Tour that is played in the Netherlands. It was first played in 1986, and annually from 2004 to 2015. It resumed play in 2021.

The University of Harderwijk (1648–1811), also named the Guelders Academy (Latin: Academia Gelro-Zutphanica), was located in the city of Harderwijk, in the Republic of the United Provinces (now: the Netherlands). It was founded by the province of Guelders (Gelre).

The Vischpoort or Vispoort is a late-14th-century city gate and former lighthouse in Harderwijk, Netherlands. The gate, which is located on the historical seaside of the Zuiderzee, is the only one of five gates in the city walls that remains. Between 1851 and 1947 the Vischpoort served as a lighthouse. The Vischpoort is listed as a national heritage site (Dutch: rijksmonument).

't Nonnetje is a restaurant in Harderwijk, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star for the periods 2004–2007 and 2009–2014. In 2015 the restaurant was awarded its second Michelin star. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 16 out of 20 points.The head chef of 't Nonnetje is Michel van der Kroft, who joined the restaurant in 2006 after he left De Kersentuin. He took over from Omar Dahak who had earned the Michelin star in 2004. With the change of head chef the restaurant lost its star, but regained it in 2008.'t Nonnetje has been a member of Alliance Gastronomique Néerlandaise since 2009.

Veluwemeer Aqueduct is a 25-metre (82 ft) long, 19 meter wide, navigable aqueduct (also known as a water bridge) located over Veluwemeer lake in Harderwijk, Netherlands. It was opened in 2002 and bypasses the N302 road. Where the aqueduct crosses the N302, the depth of water is three metres (9.83 feet), which allows vessels to pass over the road safely, so long as their draft is less. There are also pedestrian crossings on both sides of the waterway.The construction of the aqueduct took some 22,000 cubic metres of concrete, plus steel sheet piling to bear the heavy weight of the water over the road and to prevent water and sediment from leaking onto the road below.

Harderwijk railway station is located in Harderwijk, Netherlands. The station was opened on 20 August 1863 and is located on the Amersfoort–Zwolle section of the Utrecht–Kampen railway (Centraalspoorweg). The services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen.
