Rengsdorf

Rengsdorf is a former Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. In January 2018 it was merged into the new Verbandsgemeinde Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach. The seat of the Verbandsgemeinde was in Rengsdorf. The Verbandsgemeinde Rengsdorf consisted of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"): Anhausen Bonefeld Ehlscheid Hardert Hümmerich Kurtscheid Meinborn Melsbach Oberhonnefeld-Gierend Oberraden Rengsdorf Rüscheid Straßenhaus Thalhausen

Neuwied (German pronunciation: [nɔʏˈviːt] ) is a district (Kreis) in the north of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Neighboring districts are (from north clockwise) Rhein-Sieg, Altenkirchen, Westerwaldkreis, Mayen-Koblenz, Ahrweiler.

Birzenbach is a river of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It springs west of Hardert. It flows southward and discharges at the eastern outskirts of Rengsdorf into the Engelsbach from the right.

Völkerwiesenbach is a river of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It springs northeast of Bonefeld. On its course, it traverses the artificial lake of the Obere Mühle in Rengsdorf. It is a right tributary of the Engelsbach at the eastern outskirts of Rengsdorf.In 1926 an outdoor swimming pool was opened using the water of the Völkerwiesenbach, supported by Fritz Henkel, the founder of Henkel. In 1966, it was replaced by a new one, located above the old one.

Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach is a Verbandsgemeinde ("collective municipality") in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. The seat of the Verbandsgemeinde is in Rengsdorf. It was formed on 1 January 2018 by the merger of the former Verbandsgemeinden Rengsdorf and Waldbreitbach. The Verbandsgemeinde Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach consists of the following Ortsgemeinden ("local municipalities"):

Melsbach is a municipality in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Since 2018, it is part of the Verbandsgemeinde Rengsdorf-Waldbreitbach.

Bonefeld is a municipality in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

Hardert is a municipality in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany.

Engelsbach is a river of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It springs at the eastern outskirts of Rengsdorf. It flows southward through the valley Engelsbachtal. Near the reservoir Schwanenteich at the suburban administrative district Oberbieber of Neuwied, it discharges into the Aubach from the right.The route through the valley of the Engelsbach is part of the Rheinsteig hiking trail.

Laubach is a river of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. It is a left tributary of the Wied near Melsbach.

Ehlscheid is a municipality in the district of Neuwied, in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Part of the municipality are also three Wohnplätze, namely Forsthaus Gommerscheid, Hof Talblick and Talhof. (Forsthaus may be translated as forester's lodge, Hof (in that case) as homestead). On June 1, 1958, an open-air bath was opened in Ehlscheid. It was closed in 2012 due to technical problems. In 2016, the pool was leveled and filled with earth.The Rockefeller family has its roots in Ehlscheid, but also in the abandoned village of Rockenfeld and in Fahr (both today part of Neuwied).
