Green Hill (New Jersey)

Houvenkopf or Hovenkopf Mountain is a mountain in Bergen County, New Jersey. It extends into New York, where it forms the western side of the southern entrance to Ramapo Pass. The major peak on the New Jersey side rises to 931 feet (284 m) and is known as Stag Hill. It is separated by a deep saddle from the major peak on the New York side known as the Hooge Kop proper, which rises to about 770 feet (230 m). Houvenkopf Mountain is located in Mahwah, New Jersey and overlooks Hillburn to the north, Suffern to the east, and Ringwood, New Jersey to the west. It is part of the Ramapo Mountains.

Hopper-Van Horn House is located in Mahwah, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The house was built in 1769 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places on April 11, 1973. Prior to being owned by the Van Horns, the land was owned and lived on by Rachel Bayard and Lucus Kiersted, who used it as a trading post. Prior to that, there is evidence of occupation by Native Americans.

Mahwah is the northernmost and largest municipality by geographic area (26.19 square miles (67.8 km2)) in Bergen County, in the U.S. state of New Jersey. As of the 2020 United States census, the township's population was 25,487, a decrease of 403 (−1.6%) from the 2010 census count of 25,890, which in turn reflected an increase of 1,828 (+7.6%) from the 24,062 counted in the 2000 census. The name "Mahwah" is derived from the Lenape language word "mawewi" which means "Meeting Place" or "Place Where Paths Meet".The area that is now Mahwah was originally formed as Hohokus Township on April 9, 1849, from portions of the former Franklin Township (now Wyckoff). While known as Hohokus Township, territory was taken to form Orvil Township (on January 1, 1886; remainder of township is now Waldwick), Allendale (November 10, 1894), Upper Saddle River (November 22, 1894), and Ramsey (March 10, 1908). On November 7, 1944, the area was incorporated by an act of the New Jersey Legislature as the Township of Mahwah, based on the results of a referendum held that day, replacing Hohokus Township. New Jersey Monthly magazine ranked Mahwah as its ninth best place to live in its 2008 rankings of the "Best Places To Live" in New Jersey.

The Mahwah River is a tributary of the Ramapo River in Rockland County, New York and Bergen County, New Jersey in the United States. The Mahwah River runs on a meandering SSW course for about 11 mi (18 km) from its headwaters just north of the hamlet of Ladentown, New York to its mouth which empties into the Ramapo River in Mahwah, New Jersey, just south of the village of Suffern, New York, and the state line. Its course runs along the length of the Ramapo geologic fault on the eastern edge of Harriman State Park and below the face of the Ramapo Mountain escarpment. Numerous brooks and streams flowing out of the Ramapo Mountains to the west feed the river as it runs south. For most of its length the river's course is roughly paralleled by U.S. Route 202.

Ramapo College of New Jersey (RCNJ) is a public liberal arts college in Mahwah, New Jersey. It is part of New Jersey's public system of higher education. As of the fall 2021 semester, there were a total of 5,732 students enrolled at the college, including 576 graduate students and 11 doctorate students.

The Darlington Schoolhouse is located in the Darlington section of Mahwah, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. Theodore Havemeyer, with assistance from Alfred Darling, financed the building and hired Dudley Newton to design and oversee construction. The schoolhouse was built in 1891 and added to the National Register of Historic Places on March 14, 2008. The first floor of the schoolhouse consists of a large room in which grades one through eight were taught. The second floor served as a community hall, and as a chapel used by members of the Dutch Reformed Church at Romopock. The schoolhouse has been restored by the New York–New Jersey Trail Conference, for use as its permanent headquarters.

Drag Hill is a mountain in Bergen County, New Jersey. The peak rises to 1,060 feet (323 m), and overlooks Bear Swamp Lake to the west. It is part of the Ramapo Mountains. Drag Hill is part of Ringwood State Park.

Mahwah Assembly was a Ford Motor Company manufacturing plant in Mahwah, New Jersey, 30 miles (48 km) from New York City. It occupied over 172 acres.

Herman Hill is a mountain in Bergen County, New Jersey. The peak rises to 1,076 feet (328 m). It is part of the Ramapo Mountains. Herman Hill is part of Ringwood State Park.

The Crocker-McMillin Mansion (also known as the Crocker Mansion and Darlington) is a historic house in Mahwah, New Jersey. It was built between 1903 and 1907 on the Darling estate for businessman George Crocker. After Crocker died in 1909, the banker Emerson McMillin lived in the 75-room, three-story residence until his death in 1922. From 1927 to 1984, the mansion was occupied by the Crocker-McMillin Mansion-Immaculate Conception Seminary. The property, located at 675 Ramapo Valley Road in Mahwah, is one of New Jersey's historical landmarks. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

Crocker-McMillin Mansion-Immaculate Conception Seminary is a historic seminary in Mahwah, Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The Immaculate Conception Seminary was founded in 1861 as part of Seton Hall University. From 1927 to 1984 the seminary was located in the Crocker-McMillin Mansion. It is now again part of Seton Hall University.It was built in 1903 and added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.

The Ramapo Valley County Reservation, also known as the Ramapo Reservation, is a 4,000 acres (16 km2) county park located in Mahwah, New Jersey in Bergen County, bordering Ringwood State Park to the north and the Ramapo Mountain State Forest to the south. The park lies on the border of the Piedmont and Highlands geologic provinces. The park offers hiking along a mountain brook with a waterfall, fishing in the Ramapo River, Scarlet Oak Pond, MacMillan Reservoir, and tent camping. Trails connect to the network of trails in the adjoining state forest and state park. The park also affords carry-in access to the Ramapo River for canoe, kayak and raft owners. The Reservation is popular among students from nearby Ramapo College, less than a mile away on Route 202, and acts as the school's Environmental Science laboratory. The park is also a noted geocaching hotspot in conjunction with the aforementioned adjoining parks. The former Bergen County Police substation near the parking lot serves as the headquarters for New Jersey Search and Rescue.
