The Toy District is a 12-block area in eastern Downtown Los Angeles, bounded by Los Angeles Street on the west, Third and Fifth streets on the north and south and San Pedro Street on the east. It is a multilingual, multicultural area that consists of one- and two-story buildings often painted in pastel shades and is home to roughly five hundred toy- and electronics-related businesses.

The Alan Hotel was a hotel located in the Little Tokyo neighborhood in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The hotel was established in 1942, and was built directly across from the noted Civic Center Mall. Its address was 236 East Second Street. The hotel was noted for housing a large population of African-Americans, and figured prominently in the alleged attempted assassination of Jimmy Carter in May 1979. The hotel was demolished in 1986 following a lawsuit demanding eviction settlements for the displaced residents, and to prepare for the construction of the Parker Center.

The Smell is an all-ages, alcohol and drug-free, punk rock and experimental music venue in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The Smell, notable for its DIY ethic, is home to many of the area's avant-garde performers and artists. The venue is maintained by Jim Smith, one of the four original organizers of the club, and a number of volunteers. The Smell continues in the tradition of Los-Angeles-based underground clubs such as The Masque and Jabberjaw. Aside from its primary function as a live music and performance art space, The Smell hosts a library, a vegan snack bar and a gallery space. The venue predates the conception of the Gallery Row district in which it is located. The Smell and the relatively new Gallery Row both border Skid Row.

The National Japanese American Veterans Memorial Court (Japanese: 日系米国人退役軍人慰霊碑, Nikkei Beikokujin Taiekigunjin Ireihi) is a national memorial court in Los Angeles, California, honoring the bravery and sacrifice of Japanese American veterans during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. It is maintained by and located adjacent to the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center (Japanese: 日米文化会館) on San Pedro Street, in Little Tokyo.

The Cathedral of Saint Vibiana, often called St. Vibiana's, is a former cathedral church building and parish of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Located in Downtown Los Angeles, the building opened in 1876 as the cathedral for what was then known as the Diocese of Monterey-Los Angeles, and remained the official cathedral of the Los Angeles see for over 100 years. The cathedral was heavily damaged during the 1994 Northridge earthquake and became the subject of a lengthy legal battle between the archdiocese, which wanted to demolish the building and build a new cathedral on the site, and preservationists, who wanted the building to remain standing due to its historical significance. In 1996, the parties involved reached a compromise in which the archdiocese would purchase a nearby site on which to build a new cathedral, and in turn would turn over the St. Vibiana site to the City of Los Angeles. The Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels was dedicated in 2002 as the successor to St. Vibiana's Cathedral. In the late 2000s, the former cathedral building became an event venue called Vibiana. The Little Tokyo branch of the Los Angeles Public Library is also located on the site. The 1885 cathedral structure is one of the last remaining buildings from the early period of Los Angeles history.

The L.A. Comedy Shorts Film Festival (LACS) is an annual film festival held in the spring in Los Angeles, California. LACS programs short films exclusively in the comedy genre, and is the largest festival of its kind in the United States. During the four-day event, between 60-90 comedy short films from around the world are screened at the festival's main venue in Downtown Los Angeles, with additional industry panels and parties taking place at various locations around the city. The festival culminates on the final night with a red carpet awards ceremony, where winning filmmakers and screenwriters are honored and the "Commie" award is presented to a comedy industry notable for career achievement and "excelling in achieving outstanding comedical achievements in the field of comedy excellence."The festival mission states that LACS is "dedicated to introducing the newest and hottest comedic talent to the industry, and helping them make the connections they need to take their careers to the next level." Each year, a selection of films from the festival is screened at multiple venues around the country as part of the L.A. Comedy Shorts Best-of-Fest Tour.

Round House (later, Garden of Paradise) was a landmark building on the west side of Main Street, below Third in downtown Los Angeles, California.

Crystal Theatre is a historic theater in downtown Los Angeles, California that's been remodeled into a bar and club. Located north of the Downtown Independent, the theater is now the club "The Smell", and the New Jalisco Bar at 245 and 247 South Main Street. The theater dates to at least 1910. It has been threatened with demolition.

The Downtown Independent is a one screen theater and cinema located at 251 S. Main Street in the Little Tokyo area of Los Angeles, California. It is operated by the Downtown Independent and owned by Orange County, California's Cinema Properties Group. The venue is slightly less than 10,000 square feet (930 m2) and has stadium seating for 222.

The Catalina Swimwear Building is a six-story, industrial building located in Downtown Los Angeles. The building was designed in 1923 by architect William Douglas Lee and is Lee's first major commission as an independent architect in Los Angeles. The façade has Neoclassical features and articulation that reflect early twentieth-century architecture, more formal than typical for a building intended for manufacturing purposes. The Catalina Swimwear Building is located on the southwest corner of San Pedro and Winston Streets. The building is of reinforced concrete construction, and the upper façade is sheathed in a Flemish Bond brick pattern. Its construction is documented by City of Los Angeles Building Permit #38140, issued for a six-story building with a concrete frame on the southwest corner of San Pedro and Winston Streets.

The San Fernando Building is an Italian Renaissance Revival style building built in 1906 at 400–410 S. Main Street in the Historic Core district of downtown Los Angeles, California. It was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, converted into lofts in 2000, and declared a Historic-Cultural Monument in 2002.

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles Downtown is located in Los Angeles, California, USA. Managed by Rim Hospitality Inc., the hotel is located in the Little Tokyo area of downtown Los Angeles at 120 South Los Angeles Street. The hotel was constructed by the Tokyo-based Kajima Corporation and designed by Japanese-American architect Hayahiko Takase. It opened in 1977 as the New Otani Hotel & Garden. It was sold to 3D Investments in August 2007, who brought in Crestline Hotels & Resorts to manage the property, which was renamed the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens on November 30, 2007. Following bankruptcy proceedings, the Kyoto Grand was again rebranded as a DoubleTree by Hilton in July 2012, following renovations. The hotel features 434 guest rooms on 21 floors with three restaurants: Garden Grill, Thousand Cranes, and the Azalea. Popular with Japanese tourists, the hotel is known for its half-acre rooftop garden inspired by an ancient garden in Japan. It is 19 miles (31 km) from Los Angeles International Airport, and 2 miles (3.2 km) from the Los Angeles Convention Center. In 2011 electronic producer Skrillex named a song on his new EP Bangarang "Kyoto" because he produced the whole song on his notebook in one of the hotel rooms and even recorded the vocals there.
