The Alan Hotel was a hotel located in the Little Tokyo neighborhood in Downtown Los Angeles, California. The hotel was established in 1942, and was built directly across from the noted Civic Center Mall. Its address was 236 East Second Street. The hotel was noted for housing a large population of African-Americans, and figured prominently in the alleged attempted assassination of Jimmy Carter in May 1979. The hotel was demolished in 1986 following a lawsuit demanding eviction settlements for the displaced residents, and to prepare for the construction of the Parker Center.

Koyasan Beikoku Betsuin (高野山米国別院, Kōyasan Beikoku Betsuin, "Koyasan United States Branch Temple"), also known as Koyasan Buddhist Temple, is a Japanese Buddhist temple in the Little Tokyo district of Downtown Los Angeles, California, United States. Founded in 1912, it is one of the oldest existing Buddhist temples in the North American mainland region. The temple is a branch of Koyasan Shingon Buddhism and is the North America regional headquarters for the school.

Sushi Kaneyoshi is a Michelin Guide starred sushi restaurant in Los Angeles, in the U.S. state of California.Yoshiyuki Inoue is the chef. Sushi Kaneyoshi has a "sibling" restaurant called Sawa.

Asahi Gakuen (あさひ学園 "School of the Rising Sun"), or the Los Angeles Japanese School (ロス・アンジェルス補習授業校 Rosu Anjerusu Hoshū Jugyō Kō), is a part-time Japanese school in the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The school was founded by the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Language Education in Los Angeles. In 1988, the school had 2,500 students. The school teaches the Japanese language, science, social sciences, and mathematics. As of 1987 the school teaches all four aspects in each school day. The Japan Business Association of Southern California (JBA, 南カリフォルニア日系企業協会 Minami Kariforunia Nikkei Kigyō Kyōkai), previously known as The Japan Traders' Club of Los Angeles (日本貿易懇話会 Nihon Bōeki Konwa-kai), as of 1997 financially supports the school.

The DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Los Angeles Downtown is located in Los Angeles, California, USA. Managed by Rim Hospitality Inc., the hotel is located in the Little Tokyo area of downtown Los Angeles at 120 South Los Angeles Street. The hotel was constructed by the Tokyo-based Kajima Corporation and designed by Japanese-American architect Hayahiko Takase. It opened in 1977 as the New Otani Hotel & Garden. It was sold to 3D Investments in August 2007, who brought in Crestline Hotels & Resorts to manage the property, which was renamed the Kyoto Grand Hotel and Gardens on November 30, 2007. Following bankruptcy proceedings, the Kyoto Grand was again rebranded as a DoubleTree by Hilton in July 2012, following renovations. The hotel features 434 guest rooms on 21 floors with three restaurants: Garden Grill, Thousand Cranes, and the Azalea. Popular with Japanese tourists, the hotel is known for its half-acre rooftop garden inspired by an ancient garden in Japan. It is 19 miles (31 km) from Los Angeles International Airport, and 2 miles (3.2 km) from the Los Angeles Convention Center. In 2011 electronic producer Skrillex named a song on his new EP Bangarang "Kyoto" because he produced the whole song on his notebook in one of the hotel rooms and even recorded the vocals there.

The Atomic Cafe was a diner located at 422 East First Street in the Little Tokyo district of Los Angeles, California. It opened in 1946, during the post-war Atomic Age marked with a pop culture obsession with all things atomic.The cafe was owned and operated by the Matoba family. It was founded by Ito and Minoru Matoba. The cafe was notable as a popular gathering place for adherents of punk rock in Los Angeles from 1977 forward. This was mainly because the proprietor's daughter, "Atomic Nancy" Matoba, covered most of the interior walls and ceiling with posters and fliers for punk rock bands. Music promoter Paul Greenstein frequented the cafe and promoted it among the punk counterculture scene. In addition the jukebox was a combination of punk singles, new wave music, classic rock and roll, standards, and songs in Japanese.The cafe closed its doors on Thanksgiving Day, November 23, 1989.The building that housed the Atomic Cafe was demolished in January 2015 to create a new subway station as part of the Regional Connector Transit Corridor.

The Japanese American National Museum (全米日系人博物館, Zenbei Nikkeijin Hakubutsukan) is located in Los Angeles, California, and dedicated to preserving the history and culture of Japanese Americans. Founded in 1992, it is located in the Little Tokyo area near downtown. The museum is an affiliate within the Smithsonian Affiliations program.The museum covers more than 130 years of Japanese-American history, dating to the first Issei generation of immigrants. Its moving image archive contains over 100,000 feet (30,000 m) of 16 mm and 8 mm home movies made by and about Japanese Americans from the 1920s to the 1950s. It also contains artifacts, textiles, art, photographs, and oral histories of Japanese Americans. The Japanese American National Museum of Los Angeles and the Academy Film Archive collaborate to care for and provide access to home movies that document the Japanese-American experience. Established in 1992, the JANM Collection at the Academy Film Archive currently contains over 250 home movies and continues to grow.

Alameda Street is a major north-south thoroughfare in Los Angeles County, California. It is approximately 21 miles in length, running from Harry Bridges Boulevard in Wilmington; and through Carson, Compton, Lynwood, Watts, Vernon and Arts District to Spring and College in Chinatown. For much of its length, Alameda runs through present and former industrial corridors, and is paralleled by Southern Pacific Railway tracks.

Little Tokyo (Japanese: リトル・トーキョー) also known as Little Tokyo Historic District, is an ethnically Japanese American district in downtown Los Angeles and the heart of the largest Japanese-American population in North America. It is the largest and most populous of only three official Japantowns in the United States, all of which are in California (the other two are Japantown, San Francisco and Japantown, San Jose). Founded around the beginning of the 20th century, the area, sometimes called Lil' Tokyo, J-Town, 小東京 (Shō-tōkyō), is the cultural center for Japanese Americans in Southern California. It was declared a National Historic Landmark District in 1995.

The Toy District is a 12-block area in eastern Downtown Los Angeles, bounded by Los Angeles Street on the west, Third and Fifth streets on the north and south and San Pedro Street on the east. It is a multilingual, multicultural area that consists of one- and two-story buildings often painted in pastel shades and is home to roughly five hundred toy- and electronics-related businesses.

The Catalina Swimwear Building is a six-story, industrial building located in Downtown Los Angeles. The building was designed in 1923 by architect William Douglas Lee and is Lee's first major commission as an independent architect in Los Angeles. The façade has Neoclassical features and articulation that reflect early twentieth-century architecture, more formal than typical for a building intended for manufacturing purposes. The Catalina Swimwear Building is located on the southwest corner of San Pedro and Winston Streets. The building is of reinforced concrete construction, and the upper façade is sheathed in a Flemish Bond brick pattern. Its construction is documented by City of Los Angeles Building Permit #38140, issued for a six-story building with a concrete frame on the southwest corner of San Pedro and Winston Streets.

Little Tokyo/Arts District station is a future underground light rail station in the Metro Rail system that will replace a former at-grade station with the same name. The former station was located at the intersection of 1st Street and Alameda Street, on the edge of Little Tokyo and the Arts District in Downtown Los Angeles. The former station opened in 2009 as part of the Gold Line Eastside Extension, and was served by the L Line. The at-grade platform closed in October 2020, and the new underground platform near First Street between Alameda and Central Avenue is scheduled to open in 2022. A bus bridge currently operates along the line until the replacement is completed.
