Smiths Falls-Montague (Russ Beach) Airport (IATA: YSH, ICAO: CYSH) is a registered aerodrome located about 3.5 nautical miles (6.5 km; 4.0 mi) east of the town of Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada. The airport is operated by the Smiths Falls Flying Club, and is registered with Transport Canada. The Smiths Falls Flying Club operates a flight training unit with three Cessna 172 airplanes, and there is 100LL avgas available 24 hours via a self-serve credit card system. There are no landing, ramp or tie-down fees. Surface level aerobatics are frequently conducted over the paved runway 06/24.

Elmcroft is a 19th-century house in Smiths Falls, Ontario, Canada, built in 1895 by the town's mayor, Francis Theodore Frost, who also served as director of the local Frost & Wood foundry, as a Member of Parliament and as a senator. It is an example of Queen Anne Revival architecture.

Smiths Falls is a town in Eastern Ontario, Canada, 72 kilometres (45 mi) southwest of Ottawa. As of the 2021 census it has a population of 9,254. It is in the Census division for Lanark County, but is separated from the county. The Rideau Canal waterway passes through the town, with four separate locks in three locations and a combined lift of over 15 metres (49.2 ft). The town's name was previously spelled Smith's Falls, and the spelling Smith Falls has been used, but "Smiths Falls" is now the official correct form.

The Railway Museum of Eastern Ontario, a rail museum in a former CNoR station, stands on the abandoned right-of-way of a Canadian Northern Railway line which once led southwest toward Napanee. Established 1985 as the Smiths Falls Railway Museum, the RMEO works to preserve the 1913 Canadian Northern (CNoR) station and a collection of historic rolling stock, equipment and railway memorabilia.

Merrickville–Wolford is a village-status municipality in Eastern Ontario, Canada, located in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville. It spans both shores of the Rideau River. The current municipality was incorporated on January 1, 1998, by amalgamating the former village of Merrickville with the former township of Wolford. The Rideau Canal locks at Merrickville with three locks have a total lift of 25 ft (7.6 m). On the south side of the locks there is the old blockhouse, which has been restored by Parks Canada as a tourist site and museum operated by the Merrickville and District Historical Society. In the last two decades, the region has seen a boom in the local economy mostly related to increased tourism. It is famous for its local crafts people and artists.

Rideau Correctional Centre was opened in 1947 as a minimum-security facility, with an integrated farm where inmates could learn skills to be plied upon their release. It was decommissioned in 2004, and subsequently demolished in 2013.

Dwyer Hill is a farming community in Rideau-Goulbourn Ward, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.Located approximately 50 km southwest of downtown Ottawa and 30 km northeast of Smiths Falls, the community is centred on the intersection of Dwyer Hill Road (Route #3) and Franktown Road (Route #10). Anderson Farm is on the corner of Franktown Rd. and Dwyer Hill Rd and been there since 1837. It is now owned and operated by Robert and Brenda Anderson. Kings Creek joins the Jock River just east of the community. It is the headquarters for Joint Task Force 2.Dwyer Hill is also a railway point marked by a signpost on the VIA Rail line between Ottawa station and Smiths Falls station.

Joint Task Force 2 (JTF 2; French: Deuxième Force opérationnelle interarmées) is an elite Tier 1 special operations force of the Canadian Armed Forces, serving under the Canadian Special Operations Forces Command. JTF 2 is known to work with other special operations forces such as the American Delta Force and Seal Team Six, the British Special Air Service and Special Boat Service, and the Australian Special Air Service Regiment and 2nd Commando Regiment. Burritts Rapids is a small village located on the Rideau River in eastern Ontario. The hamlet was named after Stephen Burritt, whose family was the first to settle in this area. At one time, the hamlet prospered due to its location on the Rideau Canal. The community straddles the river, so part is located in Rideau Township, now Rideau-Jock Ward in Ottawa, and part in North Grenville Township. There is a lock on the canal to bypass rapids here, the Burritts Rapids Bridge which crosses the canal and a stationary bridge which crosses the river.

The Tay River is a river in Lanark County in Eastern Ontario, Canada. It is in the Saint Lawrence River drainage basin and is a left tributary of the Rideau River. The Tay River watershed, covering a drainage area in excess of 800 square kilometers, is the westmost of the 6 recognized subwatersheds managed by the Rideau Valley Conservation Authority.
