McGaheysville ( mə-GAK-eez-vil) is a Census-designated place located in Rockingham County, in the U.S. state of Virginia. It is located along U.S. Route 33 between Penn Laird and Elkton, and sits at the base of the Massanutten. According to a number derived from the 2010 census standard, McGaheysville had an estimated population of 4,354 people.

Bogota, also known as Bogota Farm, is a historic home and farm and national historic district located near Port Republic, Rockingham County, Virginia. The main house was built between 1845 and 1847, and is a two-story, five-bay, brick Greek Revival style dwelling. It features a brick cornice, stepped-parapet gable end walls, and a low-pitched gable roof. The front facade has a two-story pedimented portico sheltering the center bay. Also on the property are the contributing smokehouse, two slave dwellings, a garden area, bank barn, log house, and two archaeological sites including a possible slave cemetery. On June 9, 1862, Bogota was the scene of action during the Battle of Port Republic.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009.

The Battle of Port Republic was fought on June 9, 1862, in Rockingham County, Virginia, as part of Confederate Army Maj. Gen. Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson's campaign through the Shenandoah Valley during the American Civil War. Port Republic was a fierce contest between two equally determined foes and was the most costly battle fought by Jackson's Army of the Valley during its campaign. Together, the battles of Cross Keys (fought the previous day) and Port Republic were the decisive victories in Jackson's Valley Campaign, forcing the Union armies to retreat and leaving Jackson free to reinforce Gen. Robert E. Lee for the Seven Days Battles outside Richmond, Virginia.

Jonathan Peale House is a historic home located near Harrisonburg, Rockingham County, Virginia. It was built about 1845, and is a two-story, five-bay, central-passage plan brick dwelling in the Greek Revival style. The front facade feature a central two-story gabled portico supported by stucco-covered Tuscan order columns. On the rear facade is a two-story, full-width gallery porch supported by stucco-covered masonry columns. Also on the property are the contributing well, slave quarter, and tennis court. The house was used as Confederate General Stonewall Jackson’s headquarters in April 1862.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.
