KKGQ (92.3 FM) is an American 95 kW radio station operating in Wichita, and licensed to Newton, Kansas. KKGQ airs a sports talk format, branded as "ESPN Wichita 92.3." KKGQ's studios are located on McLean Boulevard (next to Riverfront Stadium) in Wichita, and their transmitter is located on Cow Palace Road on the south side of Newton.

Sand Creek Station Golf Course just outside Newton, Kansas, is a links-style 18-hole public golf course with a bent grass playing surface designed by architect Jeff Brauer. Unique features include an active railway running through the course, Sand Creek bordering four holes, and eleven custom ponds. A wooden cart bridge spans Sand Creek, and a concrete underpass allows carts to travel under the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad tracks. A biking/walking path runs along the tracks from the course to Southwest 14th Street.

The city of North Newton is located immediately north and exists as a separate political entity. Newton is located at the intersection of Interstate 135, U.S. Route 50, and U.S. Route 81 highways.

Fischer Field Stadium is the signature athletic field in Newton, Kansas, and is located in Athletic Park. The stadium is used for athletic events — including high school football and soccer (including the state's 8-man football championship), competitive leagues, and semi-pro football — concerts, Newton High School graduation and a variety of community events and festivals. The stadium is listed on both the Kansas Register and National Register of Historic Places. It can seat up to 5,000 people.

The Mennonite Settler is a 17-foot limestone statue in Newton, Kansas, honoring Mennonite farmers and their wheat heritage. The statue was crafted in 1942 by Topeka artist Max Nixon out of native Kansas limestone. It depicts a bearded Mennonite farmer with hat in hand, in an attitude of prayer. The sculpture rests on a mosaic tile base with the inscription "Commemorating entry into Kansas from Russia of Turkey Red Hard Wheat by Mennonites 1874." The statue commemorates the introduction from Russia of Turkey Red hard winter wheat by Mennonite settlers, which helped make Kansas the "breadbasket of America." The statue was jointly financed through a community fundraising drive and a Works Progress Administration (WPA) art project. The statue was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1998 and underwent an extensive three-year restoration that was completed in 2000. The mosaic tile base is about 10 feet (3.0 m) in diameter.

The Carnegie Library in Newton, Kansas is a building from 1903. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.It was built as a two-story 51 by 62 feet (16 m × 19 m) building; a 30 feet (9.1 m) one-story addition was added later.

Theorosa's Bridge is located west of 109th Street North and Meridian between the towns of Sedgwick and Valley Center in Kansas, United States. Over the years, it has burned down and been rebuilt.
