Bethalto Village Hall

Bethalto is a village in Madison County, Illinois, United States. Bethalto, like the rest of Madison County, is part of the Illinois Metro East portion of the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area. Early in its history, the village was a railway town along the Terre Haute and Alton Railroad. In the 19th century, industry in the town included milling of grain from local farms and coal mining. In the early 20th century, the railroad was rerouted to go through nearby Edwardsville. By the mid 20th century, the rail industry had pulled out entirely and the village became known as a bedroom town.At the 2020 census, the population of Bethalto was 9,310.

St. Louis Regional Airport (IATA: ALN, ICAO: KALN, FAA LID: ALN) is a public airport four miles (6 km) east of Alton, in Madison County, Illinois, United States. It is in the village of Bethalto but its mailing address is East Alton.Its operations are paid for by an airport taxation district created in 1946, which collects taxes from property owners in the Madison County townships of Alton, Wood River, Foster and Fort Russell.

Civic Memorial High School is a public high school in Bethalto, Illinois, that is part of the Bethalto Community Unit School District 8. It serves students from Bethalto, Meadowbrook, Cottage Hills, and parts of Rosewood Heights and Moro. The school was originally named Bethalto High School. The name was changed to Civic Memorial High School when the new building was completed in the 1950s. The first graduating class was that of 1951. Prior to that, students attended classes through their junior year, then graduated from either Wood River High School or Roxana High School. The original Civic Memorial High School building at 910 Second St. (the current Wilbur Trimpe Middle School) housed a three-year high school (grades 10–12) until the 1974–75 school year, when the school added 9th grade. Civic Memorial moved into its present building at 200 School Street for the 1979–1980 school year.

Moro, like all of Madison County, is part of the Illinois Metro-East region of the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area. The city of Moro, Oregon, is named for the Illinois community.

Cottage Hills is an unincorporated community in Madison County, Illinois, United States. In 2018, the Cottage Hills ZIP Code area served a population of 3,604. Cottage Hills is west of Bethalto, north of Rosewood Heights, east of East Alton, and is a part of the St. Louis Metro Area. Cottage Hills has a post office with ZIP code 62018. Between 1915 and 1980 a railway under the name of St. Louis Division Old Line used to pass through the community. Similar to most communities in Madison County, Cottage Hills is a bedroom community.

Rosewood Heights is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Madison County, Illinois, United States. The population was 3,971 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Metro East region of the Greater St. Louis metropolitan area.

Meadowbrook is an unincorporated community in Madison County, in the U.S. state of Illinois. Meadowbrook is located east of Bethalto and south of Moro. Meadowbrook is best known for being 90°W from the Prime Meridian. Meadowbrook is also the host of the Bethalto School District school of Meadowbrook Intermediate. Meadowbrook has two postal codes, 62010 and 62067.

Lloyd Hopkins Field is a baseball stadium in Alton, Illinois. Owned and operated by the city of Alton, it is the home field for the Alton River Dragons, a collegiate summer baseball team in the Prospect League, and for American Legion Baseball. Hopkins Field hosted American Legion teams from 1981 to 2015, and they returned in 2020. Hopkins Field was also the home of the Bluff City Bombers in the Central Illinois Collegiate League from 1998 to 2004.In January 2020 the city of Alton signed a 10-year lease with the River Dragons. The deal called for upgrades to Hopkins Field, including the addition of a locker room, batting cages, a new scoreboard and video board, concession amenities, and seating for 1,800 people. Hopkins Field had been renovated in 2015 with updated dugouts and new batting cages, lights, siding, netting, fencing, and turf.

Roxana High School is a secondary school in Roxana, Illinois, United States. The school's mascot is the shell, named for the former Shell Oil (now ConocoPhillips) refinery also located in the town. The school district encompasses all of Roxana, South Roxana, and parts of Wood River, Edwardsville and Rosewood Heights.
