Salzburg Castle

The river Brend is a right-bank tributary of the Fränkische Saale (Franconian Saale), in Lower Franconia, Bavaria, Germany. It is situated in the district Rhön-Grabfeld. Its source is in Oberweißenbrunn, which is part of the town Bischofsheim. It flows through Bischofsheim, Unterweißenbrunn, Wegfurt, Schönau an der Brend and Brendlorenzen before entering the Fränkische Saale after 30 kilometres in Bad Neustadt.

The Streu is a river of Thuringia and Bavaria, Germany. The Streu arises in Thuringian part of the Rhön Mountains, below the Ellenbogen mountain, northwest of Melpers. It flows southeast for about 29 km (18 mi) through Ostheim to Mellrichstadt, then flows southwest for another 13 km (8.1 mi) to join the Franconian Saale at Heustreu near Bad Neustadt. From Fladungen to Mellrichstadt the Streu proceed through a valley, 2–4 km (1.2–2.5 mi) wide, between low hills. This region is known locally as the Streutal. The Streu is too small and shallow for navigation but its lower reaches below Mellrichstadt are suitable for light boating and kayaking. The Streu occasionally floods, especially in spring when the snow melts on the Rhön Mountains. These floods are not generally destructive in the Streutal, but can contribute to more serious flooding downstream on the Franconian Saale.

Heustreu is a municipality in the district of Rhön-Grabfeld in Lower Franconia in Germany. It lies on the river Streu. Heustreu is situated in the Main-Rhön region in the very north of Lower Franconia. The Rhön mountains are a low mountain range in the very north of Bavaria, Hesse and Thuringia. The most successful football club in Heustreu is the TSV 1894 Heustreu e.V., which plays in the Kreisklasse of the Rhön-Grabfeld district.

Brendlorenzen is a suburb (Stadtteil) of the town of Bad Neustadt an der Saale in the region of Unterfranken in Bavaria, Germany. The village is stretching along a single main street for more than two kilometers. Its length is due to the growing together of originally two separate villages called Brend and Lorenzen. The latter name is derived from the chapel of the same name, which is dedicated to Saint Lawrence (Lorenzo). Brend comes from the tributary of the same name, in whose valley the place is located. Brendlorenzen has approximately 4500 residents with several new housing development sites spreading onto the surrounding farm land.
