San Domenico, Pistoia

The Church of Tau is a 14th-century, deconsecrated Roman Catholic church located on Corso Silvano Fedi #28 in Pistoia, region of Tuscany, Italy. It is located adjacent to Piazza Garibaldi, and across the street from the church of San Domenico. It was originally dedicated to St Anthony Abbot, and established along with the monastery by monks of the Canons Regular of St Anthony of Vienne. The church and adjacent monastery now houses the Fondazione Marino Marini, and exhibits some of the 20th-century sculptor's work in the church. The walls of the church were frescoed in 1372 by Niccolò di Tommaso and Antonio Vite.

The Monument to Garibaldi is a bronze equestrian statue of Giuseppe Garibaldi, the hero of Italian independence atop a pedestal in the homonymous piazza on Corso Silvani Fedi, in Pistoia, region of Tuscany, Italy. Initially the monument, designed by Alessandro Garella, was place in Piazza San Domenico, but moved to this piazza in 1904. In 1909, the wreath at the base was added, which contains a depiction of fasces. Garibaldi's horse prances in an active pose, while Garibaldi in cap, remains unperturbed. The initial plans in 1882 for a monument envisioned a simple bust of the patriot, but others envisioned a more dramatic monument, this set up a debate that lasted decades. A final design was not selected till the end of the 19th-century. The next debate was where to site the statue, with the Catholic lobbies opposing placement of the statue of the anticlerical Garibaldi in the central Piazza del Duomo. The Chiesa del Tau faces the small Piazza Garibaldi.

The adjective fuoricivitas (a mix of Italian and Latin meaning "outside the city") refers to it location, outside of the first set of city walls, when it was founded during the era of Lombard rule in Italy.

The eclectic church facade sits near the intersection of four streets: Corso Silvani Fedi, Corso Giovanni Amendola, Via Porta Carratica, and Via del Can Bianco, about a block away along Silvani Fedi from the Chiesa del Tau.

The San Giovanni in Corte Baptistery (Italian: Battistero di Giovanni in Corte), also known as the Baptistery of San Giovanni di Rotondo, is a former Roman Catholic building in Pistoia, region of Tuscany, Italy. The octagonal baptistery stands at a slight angle across a small piazza from the Duomo of Pistoia in the center of town. It is presently used for cultural events.

San Leone, once called the oratory or church of Santo Spirito, is a small Baroque-style Roman Catholic church located adjacent to the Vivarelli Colonna (now provincial offices) in Pistoia, region of Tuscany, Italy. In 2017, restoration of the Baroque era frescoes in the apse and ceilings were completed.

It has an area of 964.12 square kilometres (372.25 sq mi) and a total population of 291,788 inhabitants (as of 2015). There are 22 comuni (SG: comune) in the province.The province was formed in 1927 under the rule of Mussolini, and had the lowest income per capita in Tuscany in 1966 due to high poverty levels. This is because the province was mainly agricultural before World War II ended, and has since had to rapidly progress towards industrial capitalism and abandon its agricultural roots. The population of the province has recently been increasing, moving from 268,437 in 2011 to around 292,000 in 2015.The Mountains of Pistoia and the resorts Abetone and Val di Luce are tourist destinations for skiers, and the province contains a combination of flat land such as the area of the valley of the Ombrone and the river flowing through it, and mountainous land. The city of Pistoia is roughly 40 kilometres (25 mi) away from both Lucca and Florence. The land around the cities of Pistoia and Pescia are popular locations for flower and plant cultivation for global exports, and town and commune Quarrata is known for its wood furniture.

Pistoia Cathedral, or Cathedral of Saint Zeno (Italian: Duomo di Pistoia or Cattedrale di San Zeno) is the main religious building of Pistoia, Tuscany, central Italy, located in the Piazza del Duomo in the centre of the city. It is the seat of the Bishop of Pistoia and is dedicated to Saint Zeno of Verona. Most probably built in the 10th century, it has a façade in Romanesque style, inspired by other churches in Pistoia (San Bartolomeo and San Jacopo). The interior has a nave and two side-aisles, with a presbytery and crypt. A restoration in 1952–1999 returned the church to its original lines.
