Bethel Chapel, Abernant

Abernant railway station served the village of Abernant in Wales. Served by the Vale of Neath railway, the station lay at the other end of the 2497 yard Abernant Tunnel from Merthyr Tydfil.

Abernant (or Abernant-y-Wenallt) is a small village north-east of the town of Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. Like many in the South Wales Valleys, it was once a coal-mining village.

St Matthew's Church, Abernant is in the Parish of Aberdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf. It is one of only a handful of tin tabernacles left in Wales. The church, in Abernant, was founded by the congregation of St Elvan's Church, Aberdare as a Christian mission, later becoming a chapel of ease to St Elvan's. The fledgling congregation initially met in a tent, but in 1888-9 (some sources say 1891), chose to erect a proper building, the entire expense being borne by James Lewis of Plas Draw. The church was probably ordered by post and arrived in a prefabricated state, then was assembled on-site, this being a common practice with these buildings. The church was intended to only be used for around a decade, but in the event, it has remained at the location ever since.Despite its stark, utilitarian appearance from outside, the church's interior is richly carpeted and the inside of the metal shell is lined with varnished wood. The church has some small though fine stained glass windows. Despite only being a nave, the church can seat 150 people and has a flourishing Sunday school. The church's font dates from 1827. Before coming to St Matthew's, it belonged to a church in Port Talbot.

Aberdare General Hospital (Welsh: Ysbyty Cyffredinol Aberdâr) was a health facility on Abernant Road, Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It was managed by the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board.

The Athletic Ground, also known as Aberdare Stadium and the Ynys Stadium, was a mixed sports venue in Aberdare, Wales, which was predominantly used for football. It was the home of Aberdare Athletic, who were members of the English Football League between 1921 and 1927. For a single season (1908–1909) it was the home of short-lived pioneer rugby league team, Aberdare.

Aberdare Girls' School was a state secondary school for girls aged 11–18 in the town of Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It closed in July 2014.

Aberdare railway station (Welsh: Aberdâr) is a railway station serving the town of Aberdare in Rhondda Cynon Taf, Wales. It is the terminus of the Aberdare branch of the Merthyr Line, 22½ miles (36 km) directly north of Cardiff Central. Passenger services are provided by Transport for Wales.

Aberdare Low Level railway station served the town of Aberdare in Wales. Opened by the Taff Vale Railway, it became part of the Great Western Railway during the Grouping of 1923. Passing to the Western Region of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948, it was then closed by the British Railways Board in 1964 when the passengers service from Abercynon was withdrawn as a result of the Beeching Axe.

St Elvan's Church is a Grade II* listed Anglican church in the centre of the town of Aberdare. It was built in 1851–1852, largely at the instigation of John Griffith, vicar of Aberdare from 1847 until 1859.On 11 December 1849 Griffith wrote at length to the Incorporated Church Building Society in relation to the position of the Church of England in the parish of Aberdare. The population of the parish was close to 14,000 people and increasing at a rate of approximately a thousand each year, yet the ancient parish church of St John's could accommodate fewer than two hundred people.
