Atrisco Heritage Academy High School (AHAHS), better known as Atrisco Heritage, is a public high school in Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States. It is located on the city’s West Mesa. It is a part of the Albuquerque Public Schools. The school is named after the Atrisco Land Grant. Enrollment at AHAHS was expected to be 2,200 in the fall of 2011.The mascot of AHAHS is a Jaguar, chosen by the first freshman class.

KTBL (1050 AM) is a commercial radio station licensed to the village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, New Mexico, and serves the Albuquerque metropolitan area. It is owned by Cumulus Media and its studios are located in Downtown Albuquerque and the transmitter tower is located in South Valley, New Mexico. KTBL operates with 1,000 watts. The radio studios are in Northeast Albuquerque (a mile north of Central Avenue). KYLZ has an effective radiated power (ERP) of 3,700 watts. The transmitter is on 140th Street SW at Central Avenue SW (U.S. Route 66) near Interstate 40 in Albuquerque.

KABQ-FM (95.1 FM) is a commercial radio station located in Corrales, New Mexico, United States, broadcasting to the Albuquerque area. It broadcasts at full power from a tower atop Nine Mile Hill west of Albuquerque, with studios located in Northeast Albuquerque and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc. (formerly Clear Channel Communications). KABQ-FM airs a rhythmic oldies format branded as "Hot 95.1" featuring Hip hop, R&B, and some dance-pop from the 1980s-2000's. The format started on January 2, 2014, on translator K265CA (100.9 FM), branded as "Hot 100.9". On November 3, 2014, the format moved to the then-KLQT. The station was jockless for the first year, but now features former A Lighter Shade of Brown member "ODM" in morning drive and local personality Janae Martinez in afternoon drive. KABQ-FM broadcasts in HD.

KDNF (840 AM) is a radio station licensed to Belen, New Mexico, United States, which also serves the Albuquerque area. The station is owned by Sheila and Derek Underhill, through licensee KD Radio Inc. KDNF airs a classic country format branded as "Genuine Country 840". The transmitter tower for KDNF is located in South Valley, New Mexico.

KDAZ (700 AM) is a commercial radio station in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It airs a combination of syndicated talk radio shows and Christian radio programming. It is owned by Pan American Broadcasting Co., Inc. Weekdays, most of the shows heard on KDAZ are conservative talk programs: Markley, Van Camp and Robbins, The Joe Pags Show, The Lars Larson Show and Jay Sekulow. Hourly newscasts are from Salem's Townhall Radio News. Christian programming is heard late nights and weekends, along with syndicated shows from Howie Carr and Todd Starnes. KDAZ is a Class D radio station. By day, it broadcasts at 450 watts. AM 700 is a clear-channel frequency in the United States, reserved for Class A station WLW in Cincinnati. So at night, KDAZ reduces power to 55 watts to avoid interference. Programming is also heard on FM translator K245CD at 96.9 MHz in Albuquerque.

The Gutiérrez Hubbell House also known as the James Lawrence and Juliana Gutierrez y Chavez Hubbell House, is a historic territorial-style hacienda. The original house dates back to the 1820s, and was enlarged in the 1850s and 1860s. It is located in the village of Pajarito in the South Valley of Albuquerque, New Mexico. The house has existed under three national flags: Spain, Mexico and the United States. The house is listed on the State of New Mexico Register of Cultural Properties as a symbol of the blending of Spanish, Native American and Anglo cultures and traditions, and is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is managed by the National Park Service.

La Academia de Esperanza (LADE) is a charter school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. LADE has two campuses: one at the Desert Hills Treatment Center and the other campus in Albuquerque's South Valley at the intersection of Coors and Old Coors. La Academia de Esperanza has a charter through Albuquerque Public Schools. La Academia de Esperanza was founded in 2003 to serve "the growing population of 'at risk' youth" in Albuquerque.According to the school's website: "La Academia de Esperanza provides quality academic and vocational learning for students ages 11 to 18 in preparation for their roles as socially responsible individuals, within a community-based, ethnically and culturally-sensitive educational environment."

Rio Grande is a jewelry-making equipment, tools and supplies company located in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Founded in 1944 by jeweler Saul Bell, the company is run by six directors (four of whom are Saul Bell's children). Rio Grande, a Berkshire Hathaway Company since 2013, offers a wide range of jewelry-making supplies. While specializing in silver findings and fabrication materials, the company also offers metalsmithing tools and equipment, jewelry displays and packaging products, jewelry workbenches casting machines and kilns, soldering and welding torches, gemstones, diamonds and beadstringing materials. They also supply craft artisans who work in enamels and resins as well as copper and bronze metal clay (COPPRclay and BRONZclay) and silver and gold Precious Metal Clays (PMC). The company annually produces at least two product catalogs, specifically its Gems & Findings and Tools & Equipment books.The Rio Grande facility includes a large manufacturing area where many sterling silver and other precious metal findings, like jewelry chain, jump rings and split rings, clasps are produced both by fabrication and by casting methods. Since 2010, the entire facility has been solar-powered from nearly five acres of solar panels installed on the property. At the time of construction, the solar array was the largest solar photovoltaic installation in New Mexico with an expected annual output of 1.6 million kilowatt hours of electricity. Rio Grande regularly host jewelry making classes and workshop series for both pro and newbies Unlike many corporate structures, Rio Grande is principle-based (guided by 15 overarching principles) rather than rule-based. South Valley is a census-designated place (CDP) and town in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States. The population was 40,976 at the 2010 Census. It is part of the Albuquerque Metropolitan Statistical Area. The U.S. Postal Service uses "Albuquerque" for all South Valley addresses (ZIP code 87105).

The West Mesa is an elevated landmass lying west of the Rio Grande in the Albuquerque area, stretching from the Pajarito Mesa in the South Valley northward to Bernalillo in the U.S. state of New Mexico. The eastern edge of the West Mesa is defined by an escarpment that borders the Rio Grande floodplain. The West Mesa also serves as the easternmost extent of the Colorado Plateau in this region. The western edge of the mesa is the Rio Puerco near the Laguna Pueblo about 20 miles (32 km) west of Albuquerque. A large portion of the West Mesa is part of Petroglyph National Monument and is bisected by Interstate 40 and Historic Route 66. Atrisco Vista (previously named Paseo del Volcan) (NM 347) runs north-south on the West Mesa, connecting I-40/US-66 to Double Eagle II Airport. There are numerous subdivisions with new homes being built on the lower portion of the West Mesa as the City of Albuquerque continues to expand further to the west. Further west on the mesa are the mobile home communities of Pajarito, located to the south of I-40, and Lost Horizon, located about 1/2 mile north of I-40 and 3 miles west of the Paseo del Volcan interchange. The Bernalillo County Correctional Facility, Cerro Colorado Landfill, and the Sandia Motor Speedway are located on the West Mesa, several miles south of Interstate 40. The National Weather Service operates a WSR-88D NEXRAD radar site on the West Mesa near Double Eagle II Airport.
