The Hamblen County Courthouse, at 511 W. 2nd North St. in Morristown, Tennessee, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. It is the county courthouse for Hamblen County, Tennessee. It was designed by architect A.C. Bruce and was built from 1873 to 1874. It has been expanded and modified over the years, and includes Second Empire and Italianate stylings.On Veterans Day 2019, the Hamblen County Veterans Memorial was completed on the courthouse front lawn. There is a Civil War Trails sign detailing Morristown during the Civil War and the 1864 Battle of Morristown also on the front lawn.

It is the principal city of the Morristown Metropolitan Statistical Area, which encompasses all of Grainger, Hamblen, and Jefferson counties. The Morristown metropolitan area is also part of the Knoxville-Morristown-Sevierville Combined Statistical Area.Established in 1855, Morristown developed into a thriving community due to its strategic location at the intersection of two major stagecoach routes. It would experience turmoil from battles in its immediate area and its change of control under Union and Confederate forces during the Civil War. Following the war, Morristown furthered its industrial growth with companies expanding rail access, making it a prominent logistics hub into the 20th century. Since the mid-20th century, the city has established itself as the regional economic hub and metropolis of the Lakeway Area region following efforts to expand the industrial sector of the city's economy into a market with over 100 companies, providing a workforce of an estimated 30,000 people.

Tennessee College of Applied Technology – Morristown or TCAT Morristown, is a public technical college in the Tennessee Board of Regents' Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCAT) system located in Morristown, Tennessee, United States. The college serves nine East Tennessee counties with five campuses offering different programs. With a total of 1,122 students enrolled, it is one of the largest colleges in the TCAT system.

The Battle of Morristown was a battle of the American Civil War fought in present-day Hamblen County, Tennessee on October 28, 1864. Union forces under General Alvan C. Gillem attacked Confederate forces under General John C. Vaughn who were defending Morristown, Tennessee. Vaughn's Confederates were routed and Gillem's forces pursued them into nearby Russellville, Tennessee.

Morristown College was an African American higher education institution located in Morristown, the seat of Hamblen County, Tennessee. It was founded in 1881 by the national Freedman's Aid Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The school was renamed Knoxville College-Morristown Campus in 1989 and closed in 1994. Prior to the civil rights movement, the college held the distinction of being one of only two institutions in East Tennessee for African Americans, the other being Knoxville College, founded in 1875. The 52-acre (210,000 m2) campus was perched on a hill in the middle of Morristown and surrounded by five distinct neighborhoods. Seven of the college's nine buildings were on the National Register of Historic Places. After operations ceased, most of the college buildings fell into disrepair, succumbing to vandalism and neglect. The campus was demolished to make way for a city park which opened in 2019.

Morristown-Hamblen High School East (also known as Morristown East High School and formerly known as Morristown High School) is a secondary school located in Morristown, Tennessee. MHHSE is the oldest accredited high school in the state of Tennessee. The school incorporates grades 9-12. The school mascot is "Storm" the Ibis, students and faculty are known as the Hurricanes and the school colors are orange and black. The school had an enrollment of around 1,520 students as of the 2017-2018 school year. Joseph Ely is the head principal.

Morristown-Hamblen High School West (also known as Morristown West High School) is a secondary school located in Morristown, Tennessee. The school incorporates grades 9–12. The mascot is the Trojan. The school colors are crimson and white. As of the 2021-2022 school year, 1,489 students were enrolled.

The Crockett Tavern Museum is a history museum in Morristown, Tennessee, that commemorates the American folk hero David "Davy" Crockett. The museum was started in 1955, when a popular craze over the legacy of Davy Crockett was at its peak, and opened in 1958. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in December 2013. The museum's main building is a log cabin structure built in the 1950s as a representation of the tavern that Davy Crockett's father, John Crockett, established in 1794 at the approximate location of the modern museum.The museum is operated by the Hamblen County chapter of the Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities.
