Confederation Building (Newfoundland and Labrador)

Gonzaga Regional High School is an educational establishment located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. The school began as a Jesuit sponsored all-boys school from grades 9 to 11. It is now a non-denominational coeducational institute for students from Grade 10 (Level 1) to Grade 12 (Level 3), with a 4th level available for those wishing to repeat courses, or those who need more credits to pass. It is adjacent to the Jesuit St. Pius X Church. Its sports teams are known as the Vikings.

St. Pius X Church is a former Roman Catholic Parish church in the Churchill Park area of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. It was staffed by the Society of Jesus and was next to Gonzaga High School. It was situated on Smithville Crescent off Elizabeth Ave. St. Pius X Church closed in 2022.

The neighbourhood of Churchill Park in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador is located in the city's centre. The neighbourhood is bordered by Freshwater Road to the west, Empire Avenue to the south, Kenna's Hill, Kingsbridge and Torbay Roads to the east and Elizabeth Avenue to the north. Its main east-west thoroughfares are Elizabeth Avenue and Empire Avenue, and its main north-south thoroughfares are Portugal Cove Road and Allandale Road. The neighbourhood borders the campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland to the north, and as a result, it is home to a sizable student population. The area is made up of single-family homes, mostly built in the 1950s and 1960s. The area was the first modern suburb of the city of St. John's, and one of the first residential suburbs in all of Canada, with development plans dating back as early as 1944. Initially, it was planned to be a "garden city," with single-family homes on small cul-de-sacs, generous lots, serviced with nearby parks and trails. Post-Confederation, development of the area changed to include social housing blocks and housing cooperatives, which remain today in the west end of Churchill Park. The architecture and design was planned by Paul Meschino.Churchill Park is home to the Churchill Square shopping centre, which is the area's main commercial centre. Bell Aliant's main switching station for the city is located in Churchill Park. City parks include Kelly's Brook Park, Lions' Park, Larch Place Park and St. Patrick's Park, along with its namesake Churchill Park. Due to its proximity to the university campus, many of the homes in the west end of the neighbourhood (west of Allandale Road) are rented out to students, thus making it the city's principal student ghetto. Its proximity to campus makes renting costs higher than other areas of the city, such as Rabbittown or Georgestown. Houses in the west end of the neighbourhood are mostly small bungalows and social housing projects. The east end is much more affluent, with larger houses and an established and less transient population.

The Suncore Energy Fluvarium, or simply The Fluvarium (meaning 'windows on a stream'), is a public centre for environmental education, located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, and operated by the Quidi Vidi/Rennie's River Development Foundation. The lowest level of the Fluvarium features an underwater view of Nagle's Hill Brook through nine large viewing windows. Visitors can observe brown trout and salmon living in their natural habitat. The center also has a series of natural water aquariums and terrariums that showcase fish and amphibian species found throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Pippy Park is a 3,400-acre (14 km2) urban park located in the city of St. John's, Newfoundland. The park is a popular camping, hiking and recreational park within the city, and incorporates numerous groomed and wilderness-style hiking/skiing trails, a miniature golf course, a 9-hole and an 18-hole golf course, a driving range, and a public access trailer park with limited tent camping facilities. Trails within the park link to the Grand Concourse walking trails. Pippy Park incorporates the main campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland and the Memorial University of Newfoundland Botanical Garden at Oxen Pond, as well as the Ridge Road campus of the Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland and the Ridge Road and Prince Philip Drive campuses of the College of the North Atlantic. The park also includes the Confederation Building complex, which houses the Newfoundland and Labrador House of Assembly and numerous offices of the Provincial Government.The park is administered by the C. A. Pippy Park Commission, a Crown Corporation of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. The eight members of the commission include representatives of the Provincial Government, the University, the City of St. John's, the Pippy family, and landowners and residents within the park boundaries. Pippy Park is also home to the Fluvarium, an environmental education centre which offers a cross section view of Nagle's Hill Brook. The Fluvarium is not an aquarium in that none of the fish are in captivity - the building offers an underwater view of a natural river. The word Fluvarium comes from the Latin Fluvius (flowing water) and means literally "windows on a stream."

The Arts and Culture Centres are a system of six arts centres in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, operated by the provincial government's Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation (TCAR). Each has a least one stage for the performing arts; some also house an art gallery or exhibition area, a public library, and (in Gander and Corner Brook) a swimming pool. The "Arts and Culture Centre" name is shared by five of these centres, namely those in St. John's (opened in 1967), Corner Brook, Gander, Stephenville, and Labrador City. The location in Grand Falls-Windsor was renamed the Gordon Pinsent Centre for the Arts in July 2005.

Long Pond is a pond in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is next to Prince Philip Drive (the parkway) near the St. John's Arts and Culture Centre, and the Fluvarium is on the opposite side of the pond. It sports a walking trail around its shore, of which a small percentage is the Prince Philip Drive sidewalk; and a turnoff trail on the Fluvarium side leads to Mount Scio Road.

The Fisheries and Marine Institute of Memorial University of Newfoundland, popularly referred to as the Marine Institute (MI) or simply Marine, is a post-secondary ocean and marine polytechnic located in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. It is affiliated with Memorial University of Newfoundland. The Marine Institute is considered the most comprehensive institution of its kind in North America, with unique facilities such as two full ships bridge simulators and the world's largest flume tank. It offers degrees, diplomas, certifications and industry training for the maritime sector.

Memorial University of Newfoundland, also known as Memorial University or MUN (), is a public research university in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador, based in St. John's, with satellite campuses in Corner Brook, elsewhere in Newfoundland and in Labrador, Saint Pierre, and Harlow, England. Memorial University offers certificate, diploma, undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate programs, as well as online courses and degrees. Founded in September 1925 as a living memorial to Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who died in the First World War, Memorial is the largest university in Atlantic Canada, and Newfoundland and Labrador's only university. As of 2018, there were a reported 1,330 faculty and 2,474 staff, supporting 18,000 students from nearly 100 countries.

St. Patrick's Park is the largest baseball park in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. It is located in St. John's, Newfoundland and was built by American servicemen stationed in the province following the Second World War. It hosted baseball at the 1977 Canada Games, and the Baseball Canada 2014 Senior Men's Canada Championships.The park is currently run and used by St. John's Amateur Baseball Association for their senior and intermediate baseball leagues. The senior league currently has 5 teams: Holy Cross Crusaders, Feildians, Shamrocks, Gonzaga Vikings and The Knights. The intermediate league consists of Holy Cross Crusaders, Feildians, Shamrocks, Gonzaga Vikings, Knights, Generals. St. Pat's is also home to both the senior and junior St. John's Capitals, which is the selects team for the St. John's Amateur Baseball Association.

Georgestown is a Neighbourhood Improvement Area in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador a short distance north from downtown of St. John's. This was established in the 1970s as part of an effort by Federal and local government to improve inner cities. Originally what was known as Georgestown village was much smaller and only "extended from Donnelly's Lane to what is now Belvedere Street". The neighbourhood improvement area includes, in addition to the original Georgestown, the former Monkstown and Tubridtown, along with adjoining land, including Circular Road, and Belvedere Street as well as some other parts of the former Belvedere Estate. It is bordered by Military Road (north side), Monkstown Road (both sides), Empire Avenue, a small part of Carpasian Road, the east side of Bonaventure Avenue, and Holy Heart and Brother Rice Schools to the west. It was settled, around 1819, as the city's first suburb. The name is an evolution of "George (Winter)'s Town", as it was known in the 19th century. The use of the term "town" is indicative of the Irish ancestry of many of the residents of St John's: "[Irish] baile 'a town ... a place'. In place-names, a street or neighbourhood in St John's and other communities on the Avalon Peninsula". Also, in St John's, there is Rabbittown, and Hoylestown.

CHMR-FM is a campus radio station broadcasting on the campus of Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada at 93.5 MHz, Rogers Cable channel 942 and Aliant TV channel 825. The Memorial University of Newfoundland Radio Society received approval by the CRTC in 1986 to operate on 93.5 MHz. The 93.5 frequency launched in January 1987. The station is operated by the university's undergraduate students' union, MUNSU. A media fee paid by all undergraduate students at Memorial's St. John's campus is the primary funding for CHMR. Along with The Muse, CHMR receives two dollars from every student each semester. CHMR previously aired on cable radio at 103.7 MHz in the St. John's area. It moved to digital cable in late 2006, when Rogers discontinued all traditional cable FM service.
