San Francesco degli Scarioni is a Roman Catholic church located on a narrow street, Via Arco Mirelli #19, in central Naples, Italy. It was founded and still property of the Franciscan order.

Chiaia (Italian pronunciation: [ˈkjaːja], Neapolitan pronunciation: [ˈkjɑːjə]) is an affluent neighbourhood on the seafront in Naples, Italy, bounded by Piazza Vittoria on the east and Mergellina on the west. Chiaia is one of the wealthiest districts in Naples. On the main streets of Chiaia many luxury brands have their shops. In the central area there are also important schools and high schools. The most prominent landmark in the area is the large public park known as the Villa Comunale. Historically, it underwent initial development in the late 16th and early 17th centuries as the Spanish rulers of Naples opened the city to the west of its historic boundaries. The Renaissance poet Laura Terracina was born in Chiaia and grew up there.

San Giuseppe a Chiaia is a church in Naples, Italy. Founded as a chapel for the Jesuit Order; it was enlarged during 1666-1673 under designs by Tommaso Carrere. With the suppression of the Jesuit Order, the church changed management. About 1817, under the patronage of Ferdinando I it became a hospice for the blind called the Casa di San Giuseppe e Lucia. The interior has a paintings of St Ignatius of Loyola by Luca Giordano, Family of the Virgin by Nicola Malinconico, a St Anne and Holy Family by Francesco di Maria.

Among the wealth of interior artwork are frescoes by Giovanni Battista Benaschi and interior architectural sculpture by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro. In addition, there is an Annunciation by Fabrizio Santafede and an Assumption by Paolo de Matteis.

The Villa Comunale is a park in Naples, southern Italy. It was built in the 1780s by King Ferdinand IV (later known as Ferdinand I of the Two Sicilies) on land reclaimed along the coast between the main body of the city and the small port of Mergellina. The park was originally a "Royal Garden", reserved for members of the royal family, but open to the public on special holidays such as the Festival of Piedigrotta. The park was opened to the general public on a permanent basis in 1869 after the unification of Italy. The park houses the Anton Dohrn aquarium, a renowned scientific institution built in the 1870s. The seaside road, via Caracciolo, which now lies between the aquarium and the sea, is another more recent reclamation project added to the city in 1900 to provide another connecting road between the city and the suburbs to the west. The Villa Comunale Park stretches over 1 km (0.62 mi) through an area of land between Pizzofalcone and Posillipo Hills and follows the curve of the bay from Piazza Vittoria to Piazza della Repubblica.

Mergellina is a coastal section of the city of Naples, Italy. It is located in the quartiere of Chiaia. It stands at the foot of the Posillipo Hill and faces the Castel dell'Ovo. Some people tell the name derives from that of a shorebird called "mergoglino". There is some doubt amongst the locals as to the origin of the name "Mergellina". Other people may have the opinion that it is a corruption of "Mare Giallo" which refers to when the sea turned yellow due to floating tufa rock dust following a volcanic eruption many centuries ago. However very likely the real origin of the name is from Latin "mare ialinum", that stands for clear, transparent sea.

Piedigrotta (Italian: [ˌpjɛdiˈɡrɔtta]; Neapolitan: Piererotta [ˌpjereˈrottə]; lit. "at the foot of the grotto") is a section of the Chiaia quarter of Naples, Italy, so-called for the presence of the Church of the Madonna of Piedigrotta near the entrance to the Crypta Neapolitana. The area was also well known for an annual festival, which gave rise to a song writing competition leading to the commercial birth of the popular Neapolitan song.

Napoli Mergellina railway station (Italian: Stazione di Napoli Mergellina) serves the city and comune of Naples, in the region of Campania, Southern Italy. Opened in 1925, it is the third most important railway station in Naples, after Napoli Centrale and Napoli Campi Flegrei. It also forms part of the Villa Literno–Napoli Gianturco railway. The station is currently managed by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI). However, the commercial area of the passenger building is managed by Centostazioni. Train services are operated by Trenitalia. Each of these companies is a subsidiary of Ferrovie dello Stato (FS), Italy's state-owned rail company.

Santa Maria di Piedigrotta is a Baroque-style church in Naples, Italy; it is located in the neighborhood or quartiere of Piedigrotta. A church at the site was consecrated by 1353, and dedicated to the Birth of the Virgin. It was established at the site of an older chapel sheltering a wooden Byzantine icon of the Virgin dell'Itria (Odigitria). Legend holds the Virgin appeared to three individuals requesting the church to be built. In 1453, it was ceded to the Canons Regular of the Lateran, and it is still belongs to the order. It has undergone a number of restorations and reconstructions including 1520, 1820, and 1853. The present facade dates from 1853, and was designed by Errico Alvino, with sculptures by Bernardo Manco . The adjacent cloister was designed by Tommaso Malvito. In the chapel of the Madonna di Pompei are a Crucifixion, and a Pietà with Anthony of Padua by Wenzel Cobergher. The next chapel has a Martyrdom of Agostino d'Ipponi by Giuseppe Mancinelli and a Marriage of Joseph and Mary by Bernardo Cavallino . The church once held works by Hemsel, Francesco Santafede, Giovanni Bernardo Lama, Maerten de Vos, and Belisario Corenzio.

Mergellina is an underground metro station that serve Line 6 on the Naples Metro. It was opened on 4 February 2007 as part of the inaugural section of Line 6 between Mergellina and Mostra.
