Middachten Castle

De Steeg is a Dutch village within the municipality of Rheden. Due to its central location within the municipality, it houses the town hall. Middachten Castle is located near the village. Several De Steeg buildings once belonged to the Middachten estate. These buildings, including the Post office in De Steeg, can be recognized by the red and white color scheme.

The post office in De Steeg is a monumental building located on Hoofdstraat 21 in De Steeg, Rheden, the Netherlands. It was built in 1905, by order of count Bentinck (the owner of Middachten Castle), based on a design by G. J. Uiterwijk. Due to the noticeable style, which resembles timber framing, the building and a nearby barn were made a rijksmonument on June 15, 2001.The building was allegedly built on the occasion of a visit by the German emperor Wilhelm II in 1909 to Middachten. Afterwards the building was offered for use to the local postal service. The building would stay in use as post office till June 1, 1992. After the closing of the post office the building became private property and served as living and office space. After it functioned as a combination of living space and a delicatessen store, part of it is now a restaurant.

Ellecom is a village in the municipality of Rheden in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands.

Giesbeek is a village in the municipality of Zevenaar in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands. The village was first mentioned between 1378 and 1379 to Ghisebeke. The etymology is unclear. In 1840, it was home to 399 people. The Roman Catholic St. Martinus Church was built in 1909 as a replacement of an 1834 church. The tower was destroyed in 1945, and initially not rebuilt. In 2010, a new tower was officially opened.The grist mill De Hoop was built in 1888. In 1964, it was decommissioned, and the interior and the artificial hill were removed. In 1979, it was bought by the municipality, restored in 1981, and once again grinding flour for bakeries.

Rheden is a railway station located in Rheden, Netherlands. The station was opened in 1882 and is located on the Arnhem–Leeuwarden railway. The station is currently operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. The station closed on 2 October 1927 and reopened on 18 May 1952. The platforms are not located opposite each other, but on either side of the level crossing.

Dieren (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈdiːrə(n)]) is a town in the eastern Netherlands. It is located in Rheden, Gelderland, between Zutphen and Arnhem, on the bank of the IJssel. Dieren was a separate municipality until 1818, when it became a part of Rheden.The Gazelle bicycle factory is located in Dieren.

Dieren is a railway station located in Dieren, Netherlands. The station was opened on 2 February 1865 and is located on the Arnhem–Leeuwarden railway. Until 1976, the official name was Dieren-Doesburg. The train services are operated by Nederlandse Spoorwegen. Behind the station there is a steam railway that runs from Dieren to Apeldoorn via Beekbergen operated by the Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij over the old passenger line to Apeldoorn (opened in 1887, closed in 1950).

Bahr is a hamlet in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is located in the municipality Zevenaar, about 3 km southeast of Rheden.The village was first mentioned in 1272 as de Bare. It may mean "barren land". It became part of Gelderland in 1735. The hamlet has no place name signs. In 1840, it was home to 144 people. Nowadays it consists of about 20 houses.According to the 19th-century historian A.J. van der Aa, it had about 170 inhabitants in the middle of the 19th century. The large castle "Bahr" was located here, until it was demolished after a siege in 1495.

The Oude IJssel (Dutch, pronounced [ˌʌudə ˈʔɛisəl], literally old IJssel) or Issel (German, pronounced [ˈɪsl̩]) is a river in Germany and the Netherlands approximately 82 km (51 mi) long. It is a right tributary of the river IJssel. Oude IJssel is Dutch for "Old IJssel"; the Oude IJssel was the upper course of the IJssel until the connection with the Rhine was dug, possibly in the Roman era. This connection made the Rhine the largest contributor to the flow of the IJssel, although only a relatively small amount of the total flow of the Rhine made its way into the system. Various tributaries can sometimes add water to the total flow of the river, for example the Berkel and the Schipbeek. The IJssel river is the only branch of the Rhine delta that consumes tributary rivers instead of giving birth to distributary rivers. The latter only happens at the last part of the river, where the small IJssel Delta is created. The Oude IJssel begins near Borken in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It flows southwest until it nearly reaches the Rhine near Wesel, then it turns northwest. After Isselburg it crosses the border with the Netherlands and enters the province of Gelderland. It flows through Doetinchem and joins the IJssel in Doesburg.

Lathum is a village in the municipality of Zevenaar in the province of Gelderland, the Netherlands. The village was first mentioned between 1294 and 1295 as Latheym, and means "settlement of Laeta (lit: serf)". Lathum developed near the Castle Bahr en Lathum. The castle was first mentioned in 1243, and destroyed in 1495. In the early 17th century, a manor house was built in its place. The Dutch Reformed Church probably started as a chapel. It was built in the late-15th century and has 14th century elements. In 1840, it was home to 242 people. In the 1990s, Riverparc was constructed on the location of the former brickworks.

Laag-Soeren is a village in the Dutch province of Gelderland. It is about 4 km northwest of Dieren, in the municipalities of Rheden and Brummen. It used to be a spa town.
