Jordan Pond House is a restaurant in Seal Harbor, Maine. It is situated at the southwestern corner of the Park Loop Road, overlooking Jordan Pond from its southern shore. Two rôche moutonnées, known as "The Bubbles", provide the backdrop to the view from the house's lawn at the rear of the 60-acre property. The property's history can be traced to 1847, when the first settlers set up a logging operation.The original farm house was constructed by the Jordan family, locals for whom the pond and house were named. Jordan Pond House was established as a restaurant by Melvan Tibbetts in the early 1870s. In 1883, Bostonian Charles T. How, one of the first to develop real estate in Bar Harbor, bought the property. In 1895, Mr and Mrs Thomas McIntyre took over the business, which would remain in their hands for the next half-century. Near the end of this reign, John D. Rockefeller Jr. purchased the property and donated it to the National Park Service to ensure its continued existence. The Acadia Corporation, a small group of local preservationists, operated the business between 1946 and 2013, at which point they lost their bid to renew its contract. The popover recipe they used at Jordan Pond House is now used at the Asticou Inn, in nearby Northeast Harbor, which they have managed since 2015. Jordan Pond House is now managed by Dawnland LLC, a subsidiary of Ortega National Parks LLC, based in New Mexico. The National Park Service's decision to award the contract to an out-of-state vendor prompted an online petition against the move. Dawnland's contract runs until 2025.On June 21, 1979, the original Jordan Pond House building was destroyed by fire. Through the work of the Island Foundation, private funds were contributed to build a replacement, which was completed in 1982.

Jordan Pond is an oligotrophic tarn in Acadia National Park near the town of Bar Harbor, Maine. The pond covers 187 acres (76 ha) to a maximum depth of 150 feet (46 m) with a shoreline of 3.6 miles (5.8 km).The pond was formed by the Wisconsin Ice Sheet during the last glacial period. Penobscot Mountain (1194 ft) rises to the west, while Pemetic Mountain (1247 ft) rises to the east. Two roche moutonnées known as The Bubbles (North and South) rise above the northeastern shoreline. The southern end is constrained by glacial debris and an artificial dam.The pond has clear water, with visibility normally 44 feet (13.4 m) and occasionally recorded up to 61 feet (18.6 m), the deepest recordings in Maine. The pond exhibits high levels of dissolved oxygen, and low levels of plant nutrients and plant life.Some types of boating are permitted, but people and pets are prohibited from entering the water as it is the water supply for the village of Seal Harbor.

Stanley Brook Bridge is a bridge in Acadia National Park, Maine. Spanning Stanley Brook carriage trail and Stanley Brook itself in Seal Harbor, it was built in 1933. It was the last bridge designed and constructed in the park under the guidance of John D. Rockefeller Jr.The bridge, which is constructed of ashlar stone, was designed by Charles Stoughton and built by S. F. Ralston, superintendent of Rockefeller's Seal Harbor estate. Landscape architect Beatrix Ferrand planted fauna around the bridge. At 180 feet (55 m) in the length, the bridge has three spans: the western one passes over Stanley Brook; the central one crosses Stanley Brook Road; and the eastern span is over a footpath.

Birdsacre Sanctuary, also known as Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary, is an historic house museum and wildlife sanctuary at 289 High Street in Ellsworth, Maine, United States. The core of the property is a 40-acre (16 ha) parcel owned by the pioneering Maine ornithologist Cordelia Stanwood, whose home was opened as a museum in 1960, and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973. Stanwood's homestead was extensively damaged by an arsonist-set fire in 2014. The sanctuary, now 200 acres (81 ha), includes trails, an orchard, and a nature center that showcases a fine art and nature collection, including Cordelia J. Stanwood's avian field-notes and extensive photographic collection.

The Bubbles are pair of rounded roche moutonnées on Mount Desert Island, within Acadia National Park, in Maine, United States. Consisting of the North Bubble and South Bubble, they are one of the most popular photographic subjects in the park, with common viewpoints behind the lawn at Jordan Pond House or the adjacent Jordan Pond. The two mountains are separated by a narrow saddle valley. Bubble Rock, a massive glacial erratic carried 19 miles (31 km) by the ice sheet from a Lucerne granite outcrop, perches precariously on the edge of the South Bubble. The mountains are 830 feet (250 m) in height.

Wildwood Stables is a farm near Seal Harbor on Mount Desert Island, Maine, United States. Located in Acadia National Park, on the Park Loop Road, the farm (originally known as Wildwood Farm) was established in 1911. Only the original barn is now standing, after the National Park Service demolished the farm's other structures in 1958. Today, Wildwood Stables is home to several horses which pull carriages around the park's carriage trails in the spring, summer and fall months.

Jordan Stream is a watercourse, about 1.4 miles (2.3 km) long, in the American village of Seal Harbor, Maine. It originates at the southern end of Jordan Pond, in the nearby town of Mount Desert, and flows directly south to its mouth at the northern end of Little Long Pond.The Jordan Stream valley is pre-glacial. It originally drained southeasterly to Seal Harbor but now drains, initially through a bedrock gorge, southwesterly.

Little Long Pond is a pond in Seal Harbor, Maine, United States, at the southern end of Mount Desert Island. Fed by Jordan Stream, a runoff of Jordan Pond, the pond is separated from Bracy Cove at the Gulf of Maine by a narrow causeway carrying State Route 3. It is officially called Long Pond, but has been given the Little prefix to differentiate it from other Long Ponds in the area. A 2.2 miles (3.5 km) trail circumnavigates the pond, while an offshoot leads to Jordan Pond House. Mostly flat on its eastern side, it rises somewhat from the pond's northern end to around halfway down its western side.Little Long Pond includes 17 acres of meadows, 12 acres of marsh, a bog and nearly 1,000 acres of forest. A boat house stands on the eastern shore of the pond. It is possible it was used to serve the farm of Frank Callahan, which stood near the opposite shore in the 19th and early 20th centuries. It has since been demolished. John D. Rockefeller Jr. purchased the land around the pond for its scenic value, and built in 1914 The Eyrie, a summer house atop the hill immediately to the east of the pond. It was torn down in 1962. The land was privately owned until 2015 when, in celebration of his 100th birthday, David Rockefeller Sr. donated it to the Land & Garden Preserve.There is a parking space either side of the gate and along the northern side of Route 3.

The Eyrie Summer Home was the summer residence located in Seal Harbor, Maine of the Rockefeller family. It was purchased by John D. Rockefeller Jr. in 1910. Rockefeller hired architect Duncan Candler to oversee the original cottage's expansion in 1914. The current location is home to the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Garden.

The former Seal Harbor Congregational Church is a historic church building on Peabody Drive (Maine State Route 3) in Seal Harbor, Maine. It was built in 1902, and is an elegant expression of the Shingle style in a seasonal church building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985; it is now vacant.

Saint Jude's Episcopal Church is a historic church at 277 Peabody Drive (Maine State Route 3) in Seal Harbor, Maine. Built in 1887–89, this Shingle-style church is the least-altered surviving example of ecclesiastical architecture in Maine designed by the noted exponent of the style, William Ralph Emerson. Principally used as a summer chapel, it is affiliated with the Episcopal mission of St. Mary's in Northeast Harbor. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

Thuya Garden is a semi-formal herbaceous garden, in the style of Gertrude Jekyll, located at 15 Thuya Drive, Northeast Harbor, Maine. It is open daily from May through October. The garden is located on the grounds of Thuya Lodge, built between 1912 and 1916 for Boston landscape architect Joseph Henry Curtis. At that time, today's garden was an orchard. After Curtis' death in 1928, Thuya Lodge and its grounds were placed in a trust directed by his friend Charles K. Savage, an heir of the nearby Asticou Inn and creator of the Asticou Azalea Garden. Today's greatly expanded garden was originally conceived in 1933 by Savage, and built from 1956 to 1961 with plants from Beatrix Farrand's Reef Point Garden in Bar Harbor when that estate was dismantled in 1956, and with financial help from John D. Rockefeller Jr. It opened to the public in 1962. The garden is laid out as a narrow lawn axis with cross-axes, edged by a rustic pavilion to its north and a shallow reflecting pool to the south. Flower beds contain about half perennials and half annuals, with plantings of rhododendrons and mountain laurels.
