The Hotel 24 South is a historic hotel in Staunton, Virginia, opened in 1924.

The Virginia Hotel was built in 1847 in Staunton, Virginia, and quickly became known as one of the finest hostelries in the commonwealth. Built on the site of the old Washington Tavern, the northeast corner of Greenville Avenue at New Street, the Virginia Hotel gained fame during the American Civil War as the headquarters of Stonewall Jackson, and served, alternately, as a hospital for Confederate soldiers and as headquarters for conquering Union Gen. David Hunter. It also served as a meeting point for several U.S. Presidents.After the war, the Virginia Hotel thrived under a succession of owners until, in the late 19th century, it was refurbished and renamed the New Virginia. In 1926, the Virginia's owner—Alexander T. Moore—announced he would demolish the historic structure to make way for a new hotel, which would adjoin the newer Stonewall Jackson Hotel (now the Hotel 24 South), of which he was also owner. Moore demolished the Virginia Hotel in October 1930, but the new hotel was never built due to financial constraints caused by the Great Depression. The lot sat empty for years, was used to house a gas station in the 1950s, and then built upon by the city of Staunton for a parking garage.

The American Shakespeare Center (ASC) is a regional theatre company located in Staunton, Virginia, that focuses on the plays of William Shakespeare; his contemporaries Ben Jonson, Beaumont and Fletcher, Christopher Marlowe; and works related to Shakespeare, like James Goldman's The Lion in Winter and Bob Carlton's Return to the Forbidden Planet.The ASC is notable for its theatre, the Blackfriars Playhouse, the world's first recreation of the original indoor Blackfriars Theatre in London that was demolished in 1655. As a theater company, the ASC hosts performances by two rotating ensembles of 16 different titles in 5 distinct seasons, 52 weeks a year, at its Blackfriars Playhouse, as well as hosting a regional travelling company, ASC on Tour. The ASC also provides a year-round laboratory for students and scholars through education programming in Staunton and on the road.

Staunton station is an Amtrak train station in Staunton, Virginia, located in the downtown Wharf Area Historic District of the city. It is served by Amtrak's Cardinal, which runs between New York and Chicago. The station has restrooms and benches, but no ticket office.

The American Hotel was a historic hotel located at 125 South Augusta Street in Staunton, Virginia. It was built in the downtown wharf district, directly across from the railroad station. It has since been repainted and houses several different businesses. Earlier in its existence, the hotel had a set of two pillars in the front of the building.

The Augusta County Courthouse is a two-story, red brick, public building in Staunton, Virginia. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1982. It was designed by T.J. Collins, and construction ended in the Autumn of 1901. It is located in the Beverley Historic District. It is the fifth court house constructed on the site, the first having been a log building constructed in 1755. The building has a two-story, four-bay central portico, with one-bay hyphens connecting to one-bay wings on either side, a domed cupola, with extensive ornamentation on the pediments and the capitals of the yellow, pressed brick columns. The entrances are on the hyphens, rather than the central pavilion, with a stone belt course around the entire structure. Design follows the Beaux Arts architectural style.Its historical significance is in its unique architecture, as well as its history and records, some dating back to the Colonial era.

The Woodrow Wilson Presidential Library and Museum is a complex located in Staunton, Virginia. It contains the President's birthplace, known as the Manse, a Museum that explores the life and times of Woodrow Wilson (1856–1924), a 6,800 square feet (630 m2) Research Library, a gift shop, and several other buildings that are not open to the public. Like all United States presidential libraries for administrations prior to that of Herbert Hoover, Wilson's is not part of the Federal National Archives' presidential library system.

Breezy Hill is a villa in Staunton, Virginia. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1982. It was designed by T.J. Collins, and construction lasted from 1896 to 1909 under the supervision of its owner, Mrs. Thomas P. Grasty. It has about 30 rooms and is built with a blending of Queen Anne and Victorian style architecture. It is a three-story, two-bay structure on a sloping, three acre lot, and is constructed of limestone, fieldstone, and patterned shingles, on a foundation of coursed limestone. The south bay is a turret with two Palladian windows on the second floor and includes the main entrance, and the north bay has a projecting gable. The lower story is uncoursed fieldstone, as is the second story of the turret bay. The remainder is fish scale shingles, unpainted and weathered. A one-story verandah with coupled Ionic columns and a balustrade with lattice-style railing wraps three sides of the structure, with a flight of steps in the front-center.Its historical significance is in its unique architecture, as well as its history.

Beverley Historic District is a national historic district located at Staunton, Virginia. The district encompasses 131 contributing buildings in downtown Staunton. It is a compact commercial district characterized by a well-preserved collection of 19th-century buildings. The buildings are characteristically two- to four-story, brick structures in a variety of popular architectural styles including Romanesque Revival and primarily Italianate. Notable buildings include the old YMCA (1890), Hoover House Hotel (1893-1894), Putnam Organ Works Store (1894), City Hall (c. 1877, 1927), Odd Fellows Hall (c. 1895), U.S. Post Office (1936), and the Masonic Temple building (1895-1896). Located in the district are the separately listed National Valley Bank and Augusta County Courthouse.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

Wharf Area Historic District is a national historic district located at Staunton, Virginia. The district encompasses 22 contributing buildings and 4 contributing structures. It is a warehouse and commercial district characterized by rows of late-19th century and early-20th century storefronts and an elongated plaza framed by small warehouses. The buildings are characteristically two- and three-story, brick structures in a variety of popular architectural styles including Greek Revival, Federal, and Queen Anne. Notable buildings and structures include the Railroad Water Tower, American Hotel (c. 1854), John Burns Building (1874), Erskine Building (1904), and Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad Station (1902).It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972, with a boundary increase in 1982.

The Catlett House is a detached Queen Anne style building from 1897 in Staunton, Virginia. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1982. It is located in the Gospel Hill Historic District. Construction was begun in 1896 by R.H. Catlett, who died in the same year, and completed in 1897 for his widow, Fannie Catlett.The three-story, three-bay building is on a raised corner lot in the city's Gospel Hill neighborhood. It has shingled outer walls on the two upper floors, with rough-faced stone on the foundation and first floor. It has a hipped and gable roof with large projecting gables and a rounded tower, which has a bell shaped roof with dark brown shingles. The front facade is split into three bays, with a projecting gable and a round turret on the ends, connected by a plain central bay. The ground floor has a wide verandah wrapping three sides of the house. It has nine fireplaces, and twenty-one leaded glass windows on the first floor. The house, formerly used as a retirement home for women is now the Berkeley House Bed & Breakfast. Its significance in the NRHP is due to its architecture.

The Mary Baldwin University, Main Building is a historic building on the Mary Baldwin University campus in Staunton, Virginia. It was built in 1844, and is a Greek Revival style educational building. It consists of a two-story, five bay central section, flanked by three-bay two-story wings with full basement and projecting gable ends. The front facade features a four-bay portico with four Greek Doric order columns supporting a Doric entablature and pediment.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) in 1973.
