Borough of Darlington

The Darlington rail accident occurred on the evening of 27 June 1928 when a parcels train and an excursion train collided head on at Darlington Bank Top railway station in County Durham, England. The accident was caused by the parcels train driver passing a signal at danger, due to misunderstanding the signalling layout in an unfamiliar part of the station. This accident resulted in the deaths of 25 people and the serious injury of 45 people.

Darlington railway station is on the East Coast Main Line serving the market & industrial town of Darlington, County Durham, England. It is 232 miles 50 chains (232.63 miles; 374.37 kilometres) north of London King's Cross. It is situated between Northallerton to the south and Durham to the north. Its three-letter station code is DAR. The station is well served, since it is an important stop for main line services, with trains being operated by London North Eastern Railway, CrossCountry and TransPennine Express, and it is the interchange for Northern services to Bishop Auckland, Middlesbrough and Saltburn. Darlington is the location of the first commercial steam railway: the Stockton and Darlington Railway. The station building is a Grade II* listed Victorian structure and winner of the "Large Station of the Year" award in 2005.

Feethams is a cricket and former football grounds in Darlington, England. The cricket ground has hosted Durham CCC matches.The football ground was the home of Darlington F.C. for from 1883 to 2003 until the club moved into another ground, now known as The Darlington Arena, in Darlington's outskirts. The football ground was subsequently demolished in 2006, while the cricket ground remains in use.

It is situated on the southern edge of Darlington. Skerne Park comprises streets named after well-known British rivers, such as Tweed Place, Severn Way and Tyne Crescent, partly because the estate is built near the River Skerne. Skerne Park has been recently renewed, and is a minute's walk away from The South Park. In Skerne Park, there is a Londis Newsagent Store, a Post Office and A Kebab House, there is also a popular primary school serving the local area. The estate recently had a new housing development built and is still undergoing construction, there is also a park being built.

The complex consists of three separate buildings, all of which are Grade II listed: the old town hall, the market hall and the clock tower.

It is the main shopping centre in the town, with over 40 shops, including Primark (its anchor store), Next, HMV, Waterstone's, WHSmith and Tesco Express. The centre is set over two levels and covers over 220,000 sq ft (20,000 m2). It also has a multi-storey car park with a 400 car capacity.Food outlets include a number of independent traders, as well as Costa Coffee and Greggs.
