St Mary the Virgin Church, Langley

The Kedermister Library, at Langley near Slough in the English county of Berkshire (formerly Buckinghamshire), is a rare surviving example of an early 17th-century parish library, preserved in situ in the decorated cupboards designed for it in 1620 in the parish church of St Mary the Virgin. The original vellum catalogue dated in 1638, is still hanging in the library.Founded around 1613 by Sir John Kedermister (d. 1631), it was established to provide for the education of the rector of St. Mary's, and presented to the church in perpetuity by Sir John. A catalogue of the Library listing 307 volumes survives from 1638. A large portion of the library still exists and, with the contemporary catalogue, provides insight into scholarship and book collecting in the 17th century. The library is only open from June-September by appointment only.Two of the Library's treasures, the Kedermister Gospels (an 11th-century illuminated manuscript) and the Pharmacopolium or a booke of Medicine (a manuscript herbal of 1630) are on permanent deposit in the British Library. Langley, also known as Langley Marish, was formerly in the county of Buckinghamshire, and the Kedermister Library is overseen by Buckinghamshire County Council and governed by a charitable trust.The name Kedermister is the most commonly used, though some sources, including the charity governing the library, use the spelling Kederminster.

Langley, also known as Langley Marish, is an area of Slough in Berkshire, South East England. It is two miles (3 km) east of Slough town centre and 20 miles (32 km) west of Charing Cross in Central London. It was a separate civil parish and village until the 1930s, when the built-up part of Langley was incorporated into Slough. Langley was in the historic county of Buckinghamshire, being transferred to the administrative county of Berkshire in 1974.

Ditton is a suburb of Slough, in the unitary authority area of Slough, in the ceremonial county of Berkshire, England.It is also covered by the M4 and the Queen Mary Reservoir. It was a hamlet in the parish of Stoke Poges. It was a separated part of the parish lying about 2 miles to the south west with the parishes of Upton and Langley Marish intervening. It is most famous for being the location of the Manor of Ditton and Ditton Park. It was at Ditton Park in 1935 that the idea for the development of the British Radar Defence System was conceived. Langley Park is a historic house and estate in Buckinghamshire, England. The parkland is currently known as Langley Park Country Park, and is open to visitors. The house, designed and built by Stiff Leadbetter, is a Grade II* listed building, and the parkland, designed by landscape architect Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, and gardens are Grade II listed together. The house and grounds are owned by Buckinghamshire Council, and the house is leased as a privately run hotel.

St Bernard's Catholic Grammar School (formerly St Bernard's Convent School) is an academically selective Roman Catholic state grammar school on Langley Road, Slough. It was previously designated as a Humanities College. The student body is divided into four different houses - Annay, Clairvaux, Cîteaux and La Plaine. The houses are named after various monastic houses, relating to the school's history. The school's motto is "Dieu Mon Abri", which means "God is my Shelter". The crest is a diamond, with three parallel, diagonal, swords on a blue background. The school has been given an "outstanding" by Ofsted and its recent 2017, 2018 and 2019 results place it academically within in the top 1% of the country.
