Westland Hialeah High School is a four-year public high school located at 4000 West 18th Avenue in Hialeah, Florida, United States, a suburb of Miami. The school is a part of Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Its principal is Giovanna Handal. As of the 2014-15 school year, the school had an enrollment of 2,114 students and 82.0 classroom teachers (on an FTE basis), for a student–teacher ratio of 25.8:1. There were 1,694 students (80.1% of enrollment) eligible for free lunch and 111 (5.3% of students) eligible for reduced-cost lunch.The school, fourth to serve the Miami suburb of Hialeah, was built as a reliever for the three overcrowded high schools serving the area. It opened in January 2008, taking the entire southwestern portion of the city in boundaries which are mostly served by Miami Springs and Hialeah-Miami Lakes High School. The school holds ninth through twelfth grade. Its first graduating class was the class of 2010, and its founding class was the class of 2011, which graduated in June 2011.

Westland Mall is a shopping mall in Hialeah, Florida, United States. The anchor stores are Macy's and JCPenney. The mall has over 100 stores. Westland Mall has several restaurants, Fuddruckers, Chili's, Outback Steakhouse, IHOP and a food court with McDonald's, Subway, Charlys Grill Subs and more. The mall experiences about 10 to 12 thousand people daily from the Miami metropolitan area. The mall, then named "Westland Mall" opened in the summer of 1971, after the mall was built to the east of the then standalone Burdine's Department Store. At that time its anchors were Sears, Burdine's and JCPenney. Its restaurants included a medium-sized cafeteria and a Farrell's Ice Cream parlor.In 2015, Sears Holdings spun off 235 of its properties, including the Sears at Westland Mall, into Seritage Growth Properties. Sears downsized the first level for Forever 21 and Xfinity, and a portion of the former auto center is expected to become Panera Bread. On November 7, 2019, it was announced that Sears would be closing this location a part of a plan to close 96 stores nationwide. The store closed in February 2020.

Mater Academy Charter Middle/High School (often called Mater by students and alumni) is a highly selective, coeducational charter school for day students in grades 6 through 12, and offers more than twenty-seven AP courses to students. Located in Hialeah Gardens, Florida, it ranks #33 in the state, and #331 in the nation.

On July 26, 2013, a mass shooting occurred at the Todel Apartments, an American apartment complex in Hialeah, a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Seven people, including the shooter, were killed in the incident. The shooter was identified by police as 42-year-old Pedro Alberto Vargas, a resident of Hialeah, who, after setting his apartment ablaze, opened fire from his balcony and inside the apartment, then held two people hostage before being fatally shot by a SWAT team in the early hours of July 27.

Larkin Community Hospital (Formerly Palm Springs Campus) is a 247-bed acute care hospital located on a 15-acre campus in Hialeah, Florida. Services include orthopedic surgery (hips, knees, shoulders), cardiac implants, pacemakers, interventional radiological procedures such as endovascular aneurysm repair of abdominal aortic aneuryisms (AAA). The hospital is also a designated Statutory Teaching hospital and Primary Stroke Center.

José Martí MAST 6-12 Academy, also known as JMMA 6-12 or MAST 3, is a magnet school incorporating grades 6 through 12 in Hialeah, Florida. Established in 1987 as José Martí Middle School, it introduced its magnet program with a high school expansion in 2011.

Marcus A. Milam K-8 Center, usually referred to as M.A. Milam K-8 Center, or Milam, is an elementary middle school or "K-8 center" in Hialeah, Florida. Established as an elementary school in 1961 to serve the West Hialeah area, the school was expanded to serve as a K-8 school in 1998. It was named after Marcus A. Milam, a dairy pioneer and businessman. The school mascot is the colt. The school colors are white and hunter green, which are incorporated into the mandatory uniform policy. Anna M. Hernandez assumed the position of principal at the beginning of the 2008–2009 school year, succeeding Dr. Robert G. Valenzuela.

Palmetto station is a Metrorail rapid transit station in unincorporated Miami-Dade County, Florida (with a Miami address), United States, just near the town of Medley. It is the current northern terminus of the Metrorail system. This station is located near the intersection of Northwest 77th Street and 79 Avenue, opening to service May 30, 2003. It is adjacent to the Palmetto Expressway (SR 826) (its namesake), providing convenience to west Miami-Dade and Broward commuters traveling into Downtown Miami. The station is in a low-density warehouse area and has low ridership. In 2023 a 900-unit housing project was proposed for the site.900 apartments

It is located west-northwest of Miami, and is one of a few places in the county—others being Homestead, Miami Beach, Surfside, Bal Harbour, Sunny Isles Beach, and Golden Beach—to have its own street grid numbered separately from the rest of the county (which is otherwise based on Miami Avenue at Flagler Street in Downtown Miami, the county seat). In 2016, 96.3% of residents reported speaking Spanish at home, and the language is an important part of daily life in the city. Hialeah is served by the Miami Metrorail at the Okeechobee, Hialeah, and Tri-Rail/Metrorail Transfer stations. The Okeechobee and Hialeah stations serve primarily as park-and-ride commuter stations for commuters and residents going into Downtown Miami, and the Tri-Rail station for Miami International Airport and north to West Palm Beach.

Okeechobee station is a Metrorail station in Hialeah, Florida. The station is located at the intersection of West 20th Street and Okeechobee Road (US 27), one block south of the Hialeah Expressway (SR 934). It opened to passenger service on May 19, 1985, and was previously the northwestern terminus of the Metrorail system until Palmetto station opened in 2003.

Hialeah Gardens is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida, United States. The city is part of the Miami metropolitan area of South Florida. The population was 23,068 at the 2020 US census, up from 21,744 in 2010. The population density is mostly made up of single-story development.

The City of Hialeah Educational Academy, also known as COHEA Career and Collegiate Academy is a public charter school in Hialeah, Florida.The school serves middle and high school students from 6th to 12th grade. The curriculum is designed with college prep in mind and has a STEM influence, although emphasizes emergency response, health, and law enforcement career paths. The school is located on a college-style campus. COHEA has been nationally recognized by Newsweek magazine, was named U.S. News & World Report's Best High Schools Silver Award, and was ranked on The Daily Beast's 2014 list of top high schools in the U.S. Due to the school's high level of free and reduced lunches, the school was also ranked among the most transformative schools in the country. COHEA is an "A" school under the State of Florida Accountability Program and is fully accredited by AdvancED under the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS-CASI) division.
