Wynhurst

Preston Court Apartments is a historic apartment building in Charlottesville, Virginia, US built in 1928. It is a three-story, C-shaped, reinforced concrete building faced with brick. It has two two-story, five-bay, flat-roofed Ionic order porticos in the Classical Revival style. The building continues to be used as a rental/apartment building by the Hartman family.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007. It is located in the Rugby Road-University Corner Historic District.

Dabney–Thompson House is a historic home located at Charlottesville, Virginia. It was built in 1894, and is a two-story Queen Anne style frame dwelling. It is sheathed in weatherboard and features a steeply-pitched hipped roof with tall gables over all four projecting bays. The house has projecting eaves and verges and decoratively-sawn exposed rafter ends. It is pierced by three chimneys with corbelled caps. It was built by Richard Heath Dabney, Professor of History and later Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia, father of Virginius Dabney (1901-1995). Dabney sold the house in 1907. The house is occupied by the Montessori School of Charlottesville. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Rugby Road–University Corner Historic District is a national historic district located at Charlottesville, Virginia. The district encompasses 173 contributing buildings in the city of Charlottesville. It includes a variety of commercial, residential, and institutional structures mirroring the University of Virginia's development between the 1890s and the Great Depression. It includes properties on Carr's Hill. Notable buildings include the Chancellor Building (1920), the Minor Court Building (1896 and 1927), Mincer's Shop Building 1920s), the Stevens-Shepherd Building (c. 1925), Buckingham Palace (c. 1850s), St. Paul's Episcopal Church (1926–27), Madison Hall (1905), fraternity houses dating from 1902 to 1928, Fayerweather Hall (1893), the Bayly Museum (1934), Faculty Apartments building (c. 1920), Watts-Hillel House (1913-1914), and Hotopp-Watson House (1900). Also located in the district are the separately listed Anderson Brothers Building, Preston Court Apartments, and Wynhurst.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

Rugby Road is a street in Charlottesville, Virginia that serves as the center of the University of Virginia's fraternity and sorority system and its attendant social activity. It is located across the street from central Grounds, beginning at University Avenue across the street from the Rotunda branching off at Preston Avenue and finally curving down to the 250 Bypass, and marks one end of The Corner, a strip of restaurants and stores that cater mainly to students. Rugby Road is lined with a variety of architecturally significant houses from several different decades. Many of these are currently used by fraternities and sororities, although the majority of them were originally intended for single-family use; William Faulkner was one famous resident while he was a writer in residence at the University.In addition to its social role, Rugby Road is also home to a variety of institutions and well known structures with a wide range of uses and purposes. These include Madison House, the University of Virginia School of Architecture, Mad Bowl, Beta Bridge, the Bayly Art Museum, and the official university structures on Carr's Hill, Fayerweather Hall and the President's House.

Turner–LaRowe House is a historic home located at Charlottesville, Virginia. It was built in 1892, and is a two-story, Late Victorian style dwelling. It features two one-story verandahs with a low-pitched hipped roofs, spindle frieze, and bracketed Eastlake movement posts and balustrade. A small second-story porch above the.entrance has a matching balustrade and a pedimented gable roof.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Lambeth Field or "The Colonnades" was a college football, baseball, and track stadium for the University of Virginia, named for W. A. Lambeth.

The Fralin Museum of Art is an art museum at the University of Virginia. Before 2012, it was known as the University of Virginia Art Museum. It occupies the historic Thomas H. Bayly Building on Rugby Road in Charlottesville, Virginia, a short distance from the Rotunda. The museum's permanent collection consists of nearly 14,000 works; African art, American Indian art, and European and American painting, photography, and works on paper are particularly well represented. The Fralin serves as a teaching museum for academic departments in the university, and serves the community at large with several outreach programs. Admission is free of charge and open to the public. In the spring of 2012, Cynthia and W. Heywood Fralin announced a bequest of their collection of American art to the museum. In honor of their gift and Heywood Fralin's service to the university and to the arts in Virginia, the Board of Visitors voted to name the museum The Fralin Museum of Art.

The University of Virginia School of Architecture is the graduate school of architecture at the University of Virginia, a public research university in Charlottesville, Virginia. The school offers master's, doctoral and limited bachelor's programmes in architecture, landscape architecture, architectural history, and urban and environmental planning. Additionally, the school offers a certificate in historic preservation. Founded by Thomas Jefferson, and set in the UNESCO World Heritage Academical Village, the school was founded in 1919, but the original vision for the school dated to 1826. To date, the school is considered a leader for architectural studies, and is ranked among the top ten schools of architecture in the United States.

The murder of Yeardley Love took place on May 3, 2010, in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. Love, a University of Virginia (UVA) women's lacrosse student-athlete, was found unresponsive in her Charlottesville apartment, and later that day, UVA men's lacrosse player George Wesley Huguely V was arrested by Charlottesville police. Huguely was tried and found guilty of Love's murder, receiving a 23-year prison sentence.

Carr's Hill, also known as the University of Virginia President's House, is a historic home located near Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia. Carr's Hill was built in 1906, and is a two-story, five bay brick dwelling in the Colonial Revival style. It features a prominent double-height pedimented portico in the Doric order, a slate covered hipped roof, and two tall chimneys. It was designed by the prominent architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White. The house overlooks the university chapel and the "Academical Village." Also on the property are the contributing Guest Cottage (c. 1840), Buckingham Palace (1856), the Leake Cottage (c. 1870), carriage house (1908), the landscape (site), and two iron capitals (objects) that were salvaged from the ruins of the Robert Mills Rotunda Annex after the 1895 fire.It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2008.

The Charles B. Holt House is a rock house in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. It was built by Charles B. Holt, with construction completed in 1926. Holt was a locksmith, furniture repairman, and carpenter. Holt and his wife Mary lived in the house until their deaths, at which time their son, Leroy Preston, and his wife, Asalie Minor Preston, moved in. Asalie was a prominent teacher all her life, and endowed the Minor-Preston Educational Fund.The rock house still stands today, and is a reminder of the many contributions of African-Americans like Holt and the Prestons. The interior of the house has noticeably deteriorated but the owner of the building, The Legal Aid Justice Center, has agreed to preserve and restore the house. The stone house is surrounded in part by a stone wall, and the porch features columns. The house is said to have six rooms and a bath downstairs, four rooms and a bath upstairs, and a large basement. Holt's name is carved into the front steps. The house is located at 1010 Preston Avenue across from Washington Park in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The Memorial to Enslaved Laborers is a memorial in honor of those enslaved African Americans who built and worked at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
