The Andrew Zirkle Mill is a 1760s era grist mill located in the southern end of Shenandoah County, Virginia. The mill was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 after being restored by Glenn Hofecker, the owner at the time. The mill is cited as a prime example of the architecture and construction of grist mills and manufacturing facilities of its era.

The district encompasses 84 contributing buildings, 4 contributing sites, and 1 contributing structure in the 19th century mill village of Forestville. The vernacular buildings represent a variety of popular architectural styles including Greek Revival, Queen Anne, and Italianate. The buildings date from the late-18th to mid-20th centuries and primarily include log and wood-frame single dwellings, with domestic and agricultural dependencies, that dominate the district are substantiated by a gristmill, two commercial buildings. Also in the district are a church, a cemetery, a post office, two doctors' offices, and a school.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2011.

The Timberville Historic District encompasses the historic center of the small town of Timberville, Virginia, which straddles the North Fork of the Shenandoah River in Rockingham County. Although the area was settled in the mid-18th century (the oldest surviving house dates to c. 1750), the area did not develop economically until after the arrival of the railroad in 1868. The area saw significant development in the early 20th century, developing a commercial center north of the river. Businesses migrated south of the river in the mid-20th century, and the area's economy declined in the 1960s. The district includes a number of Italianate commercial buildings, a streamlined Moderne gas station, and housing in a wide variety of styles dating from the 18th to 20th centuries.The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

Timberville is a town in Rockingham County, Virginia, United States. The population was 2,522 at the 2010 census, which was a significant increase from the 1,739 reported in the 2000 census. It is part of the Harrisonburg Metropolitan Statistical Area.

Plains Mill is a historic mill complex at 14767 Plains Mill Road near the town of Timberville in rural Rockingham County, Virginia, USA. The mill building is a two-story wood-frame construction, built between 1847 and 1849, on the banks of the North Fork Shenandoah River, where a stream falls over the bank into the river, providing the mill's power. The building has been sheathed in metal siding, although its original weatherboard siding remains underneath. A set of grain bins were added to the south side of the building in 1923, and a two-story wing was added to the north after World War II. The mill was in continuous use from its construction until 1994, encapsulating the evolutionary history of mill development in that time.The mill and a c. 1959 office building were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.

Shenandoah Caverns is a commercial show cave located near Mount Jackson, Virginia, in the Shenandoah Valley and it is the only cavern in Virginia that has elevator access. The Shenandoah Caverns has a mile-long guided tour, and its temperature naturally remains at 54 degrees year-round. Seventeen "rooms" of connecting chambers are traveled through during this time. Geological formations have been named: the Diamond Cascade, the Grotto of the Gods, the Rainbow Lake, the Oriental Tea Garden, and the Capitol Dome, and these are lighted for display. The "bacon" formations were featured in a 1964 issue of National Geographic Magazine.

It has both boarding and day school programs serving approximately 250 students in grades 9 through 12. The campus is located in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, approximately 90 minutes west of Washington, DC. The school is part of the Shenandoah County Public School System. Mike Dorman is the current principal.On July 9, 2020, the Shenandoah County School Board voted to rename the school, which was previously called Stonewall Jackson High School.The school's colors are red, black, and white, and the school mascot is "the Generals."
