Högalidsspången

Hornstull metro station is a station on the red line of the Stockholm metro, located in the district of Södermalm. The station was opened on 5 April 1964 as part of the first stretch of the Red line, between T-Centralen and Fruängen.

Hornstull (Swedish pronunciation: [huːɳʂˈʈɵlː]) is an area in western Södermalm, Stockholm. Hornstull is actually the name of where the streets Hornsgatan and Långholmsgatan intersect. Up to the early 19th century it was also a city toll; "tull" in Swedish. Hornstull also has a metro station, which opened on April 5, 1964. Two of the subdivisions of Hornstull are Drakenberg, and Högalid, after which the neighborhood school (Högalidsskolan) and parish church are named. A weekend market has been held regularly at Hornstull, under the name "Street". Many of the merchants at the market sell their own individual fashion designs and creations. Street includes a restaurant, coffee house and a night club. Hornstull is the birthplace of Swedish Artist Ecco2K.

Heleneborg is an estate on Södermalm, a part of the city of Stockholm, Sweden. It is opposite Långholmen island (home to Långholmen prison until 1975). The property was bought in 1669 by Jonas Österling and was used by the Swedish tobacco manufacturing company (Tobakskompaniet) for tobacco production. However, after a conflict with both the company and the royal court, Österling went bankrupt and died in poverty in 1691. His estate was burnt down in 1701. From 1739 to 1759 the estate was owned by Olof Forsberg, who produced white clay pipes on the premises. Adolph Christiernin bought the property in 1759 and continued clay pipe production until 1766. He was a very wealthy man who spent his entire fortune on a fixed idea that he could find gold in the Swedish silver mines. He named the property Heleneborg after his wife Helena Catharina Malmin. Miserably poor, he had to abandon Heleneborg in 1767. In the 1860s Heleneborg was owned by W.N. Burmester, who housed the manufacturer and inventor Immanuel Nobel on the premises. There his son Alfred Nobel and Alfred's brothers experimented with the safe handling of the explosive nitroglycerin. After a big explosion in this plant on September 3, 1864, which killed the youngest brother, Emil Oskar Nobel, Alfred Nobel created the Alfred Nobel & Company in Germany to continue his work in more isolated circumstances.In 1874 captain Johan Adolf Berg bought the estate and renovated it to its present appearance. After his death, his widow sold Heleneborg in 1906 and the grounds were divided into lots for construction of apartment houses. Only the main building of Heleneborg was left, and today it can still be seen next to Söder Mälarstrand, close to Västerbron. Heleneborg has given its name to the close by street Heleneborgsgatan.

Pålsundet is a strait (sund) in Stockholm, Sweden.

Liljeholmsbron (Swedish: "The Liljeholm Bridge") is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching over Liljeholmsviken, it connects the western end of the major island Södermalm to the southern mainland district Liljeholmen.

Pålsundsbron (Swedish: "The Pole Sound/Strait Bridge") is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Stretching over the small water course Pålsundet, the bridge connects the major island Södermalm to the minor island Långholmen. The name Pålsundet, on old maps called Påhl Sundet, or Pålsund, refers to the poles blocking the canal from ships trying to reach central Stockholm without paying the required duty. Also, an iron chain served the same purpose of forcing the ships pay a visit to the custom house (Winter Tullen) demolished during the 1930s. The bridge was known as Mälarvarvsbron ("The Mälaren Shipyard Bridge") or more locally Varvsbron until 1948 when it received its present name.The original bridge on this location, after Långholmsbron the second bridge stretching over Pålsundet, was built in 1907 as a wooden truss bridge. It was 3.8 metres in width, with a total length of 56 metres stretching over eight 7 metres long spans, of which the central span was a hand-driven flip bascule extending the horizontal clearance of 3.7 metres.In 1947, the wooden bridge was replaced by a steel arch bridge stretching 52.5 metres in a single span over the sound, with a width of 4.5 metres. Its steel arches were used five years earlier for the casting of the concrete arch of Kungsbron.

Högalid Church (Swedish: Högalidskyrkan) is a protected church located in the Södermalm district of Stockholm, Sweden. It was designed by architect Ivar Tengbom. Built upon elevated ground 1916–1923, in a barren area later turned into a park, it is one of the most prominent buildings in the city, complementing the contemporary Stockholm City Hall on the opposite side of Riddarfjärden. The church is considered one of Sweden's foremost examples of the National Romantic architectural style.

The Hotel Skeppsholmen is a hotel on the islet of Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm, Sweden. The hotel comprises two early buildings, individually known as Västra/Östra boställshuset ("The Western/Eastern Residence House"), located along the Långa raden ("The long row"). The two buildings were built in 1699-1702 to accommodate the 200 Drabant guards of King Charles XII. They were built to the design of Nicodemus Tessin the Younger using bricks from several palaces, in Ekolsund, Gripsholm, Nyköping, Eskilstuna, and Svartsjö. As Charles spent most of his reign on the battlefields, however, neither building was used for the original purpose, serving instead to house the poor and homeless. Poor and homeless people of Stockholm emerged in great numbers following Sweden's defeat at the Battle of Poltava in 1709, but were considerably decimated by the Black Death, which hit the city the following year. As Sweden started to create its fleet of galleys in 1715, these two buildings were gradually transformed from hospitals into offices and workshops for the fleet.By the 1770s, when the commissioner's office was relocated to a separate building, the two buildings were exclusively used by the officers and officials on the island as spacious residences, each disposing up to 17 rooms. In the mid 19th century a canteen for clerks and officials was built in the western building, and both buildings together began to be known as the Långa raden. The buildings were refurbished in 1958-1959 to serve the Swedish Navy administration and the Naval Officers Society (Sjöofficerssällskapet). The Naval Officers Society started using the buildings from the mid 19th century onward.In 2009 the two buildings were converted into the Hotel Skeppsholmen, a 79-room hotel. The hotel's reception and restaurant are located in the Östra boställshuset along with some of the rooms. The Västra boställshuset contains the remaining rooms. The conversion was led by Stockholm-based architects Claesson Koivisto Rune.The buildings have been government listed buildings since 1935.

Tantolunden is a park in the southern part of central Stockholm, Sweden.Tantolunden is located in Södermalm near Zinkensdamm and Hornstull. The area is bounded by the railway in the south, the Ringvägen in the east, the Drakenberg area in the north and Lake Årstaviken in the southwest. The park was designed in 1885 by Swedish garden architect Alfred Medin (1841-1910). The construction work continued until 1899, when it was considered that the park was completed. In 1906 a playground was arranged in the western part of the park.

Långholmsbron (Swedish: "The Long Islet Bridge") is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden. Connecting the major island Södermalm to the minor island Långholmen, it forms an extension to the street Bergsundsgatan. The bridge was formerly called Spinnhusbron ("The spinning house Bridge") in reference to the precursor to the Långholmen prison, and, popularly, Suckarnas bro ("The Bridge of Sighs"), also in reference to the prison. Its present name stems from 1885. The section of Västerbron, the bridge overpassing Långholmsbron, used to be called Långholmsbron. Most likely, an old wooden bridge was found here by the mid 17th century, as this was the location for a custom house dealing with the ships delivering goods to the city from Lake Mälaren. Nevertheless, it is present on a map dated 1733 and was replaced by a new wooden, four-span truss bridge in 1845, 33 metres long, and 6 metres wide. In 1931, the present three-span steel girder bridge was inaugurated; 56 metres in length and 8 metres wide with a roadway of 5.6 metres.

Långholmen is an island between Södermalm and Kungsholmen in central Stockholm, Sweden. The island can be reached via two bridges; Pålsundsbron in the east and Långholmsbron in the west. Långholmen is a popular spot for walks, picnics and swimming. The small beaches, located right outside the former prison, are usually crowded in summer.

Reimersholmsbron or Reimersbron (Swedish: "The Reimer Islet Bridge") is a bridge in central Stockholm, Sweden, connecting the major island Södermalm to the minor island Reimersholme. The first bridge passing over to Reimersholme is present on a map dated 1819. It is said to have been built by lieutenant general Johan August Sandel in preparation for a visit by Charles XIV. The present bridge was built 1942–43.In contrast to Långholmsbron, the bridge leading over to Långholmen where the Långholmen prison was once located and popularly referred to as Suckarnas bro ("The Bridge of Sighs"), Reimersholmsbron, which once led to an island which was home to a major distillery, was called Kluckarnas bro ("The Bridge of Clucks").
