St Barnabas' Church, Mossley Hill

Dovedale Primary School is a primary school situated on Herondale Road in the Mossley Hill district of Liverpool, England. It is a mixed community school founded in 1908.The school was previously known as two separate schools, Dovedale Junior School and Dovedale Infant School, but has since merged. It is Dovedale Primary which is probably best known as the school which George Harrison and John Lennon of The Beatles, and Lennon's lifelong friend Pete Shotton attended. Some others who attended the school were comedian Jimmy Tarbuck and the newsreader Peter Sissons. In the 1950s, it had a very good reputation as a 'feeder' school for Liverpool grammar schools such as Quarry Bank High School, the Liverpool Institute for Boys, and the Liverpool Blue Coat School. In 2001, John Lennon's widow, Yoko Ono, donated £25,000 for school refurbishments.In September 2015, the two schools formally merged management, and are now recognised as a single school by the Department for Education, known as Dovedale Primary School.

The Liverpool Blue Coat School is a grammar school in Wavertree, Liverpool, England. It was founded in 1708 by Bryan Blundell and the Reverend Robert Styth as the Liverpool Blue Coat Hospital and was for many years a boys' boarding school before reverting in September 2002 to its original coeducational remit. The school holds a long-standing academic tradition. Examination results consistently place it top of the national GCSE and A-level tables. In 2016 Blue Coat was ranked as the best school in the country based on GCSE results. In 2015 it was The Sunday Times State School of the Year. The acceptance rate for admissions is around fifteen percent. In 2004 the school received a government grant of almost £8 million, together with £1 million from its foundation governors, enabling an expansion and redevelopment of its site.

Penny Lane is a street situated south off the A562 road in the Mossley Hill suburb of Liverpool, England. The name also applies to the area surrounding the thoroughfare. During the 20th century, it was the location for one of the main bus terminals in Liverpool, and gained international notability in 1967 when the Beatles released their song "Penny Lane" in tribute to their upbringing in Liverpool.

Wavertree Mill was a fifteenth-century windmill which stood in Wavertree, Liverpool, England. As a post mill, the wooden superstructure could be rotated on its base to catch the wind, by means of a projecting pole attached to a cartwheel.First recorded in 1452, the mill was the property of the crown until 1639, when Charles I granted it to James Stanley, then known as Lord Strange. By 1676, the mill was in the possession of James Stanley's grandson, William. The new owners retained the right of soke, meaning that their tenants were forbidden to have their corn ground at any other mill. In 1768, the ownership of the mill passed to Bamber Gascoyne of Childwall Hall. It was subsequently owned by the Marquess of Salisbury, and was finally leased by Colonel James Bourne.One of the mill's sails was torn off during a gale in 1895, and subsequent damage had left it a wreck by the following year. The mill was demolished in 1916, despite local opposition.In 1986, preparatory to the building of two new houses on the site, an archaeological dig was carried out, which unearthed the brick and stone foundations of the mill. These remains were dated to the eighteenth century, and are still visible in the front garden of one of the new houses, having been transplanted 15 yards (14 m) from their original location.
