The City and County of Broomfield is a consolidated city and county located in the U.S. state of Colorado. Broomfield has a consolidated government which operates under Article XX, Sections 10-13 of the Constitution of the State of Colorado. The Broomfield population was 74,112 at the 2020 United States Census, making it the 15th most populous municipality and the 12th most populous county in Colorado. Broomfield is a part of the Denver–Aurora–Lakewood, CO Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Front Range Urban Corridor.

Broomfield County Commons Park, a 300-acre (1.2 km2) county park in Broomfield County, Colorado, in the United States, is home to the Paul Derda Recreation Center, County Commons cemetery, 237 acres (0.96 km2) of open space, and the 80-acre (0.32 km2) park and sports complex. On February 20, 2021, United Airlines Flight 328 departed from the nearby Denver International Airport en route to Honolulu, Hawaii. The Boeing 777 aircraft suffered an engine failure four minutes after takeoff that resulted in a debris field at least 1 mile (1.6 km) long that included Commons Park and the surrounding residential area. Parts Departing Aircraft from the affected engine cowling were found in the park. The aircraft returned to Denver International Airport and landed with no reported injuries to passengers or persons on the ground.

On February 20, 2021, United Airlines Flight 328 (UA328/UAL328), a scheduled U.S. domestic passenger flight from Denver to Honolulu, suffered catastrophic engine failure four minutes after takeoff from Denver International Airport (DEN). Parts departing from the engine cowling of the Boeing 777-222 aircraft resulted in a debris field at least 1 mile (1.6 km) long over suburban residential areas of Broomfield, Colorado. Falling debris was recorded by eyewitnesses using smartphone cameras and a dash cam. Debris fell through the roof of a private home and significantly damaged a parked vehicle.The engine failure resulted in an in-flight engine fire, extensive damage to the engine nacelle, and minor damage to the fuselage. Passengers also recorded video of the engine nacelle damage and in-flight fire and posted these to social media. The failed engine was a Pratt & Whitney (P&W) model PW4077 turbofan.The crew secured the failed engine, and the aircraft returned to Denver using the remaining working engine, landing without further incident 24 minutes after takeoff at 13:28 local time. There were no reported injuries to persons onboard or on the ground. The U.S. National Transportation Safety Board immediately began investigating. Similar 777-200 series aircraft were quickly grounded by several national aviation authorities, including the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration, which issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive requiring U.S. operators of airplanes equipped with similar Pratt & Whitney PW4000-112 series engines to inspect these engines' fan blades before further flight. Japan Air Lines, which had a similar incident in December 2020, retired all of its P&W-equipped Boeing 777-200s a year earlier than planned in March 2021. As of December 2021, United Airlines, which also had a similar incident in 2018, had not returned its P&W-equipped Boeing 777-200s to service yet.

Brideun School for Exceptional Children was a school for twice exceptional (2e) children in Lafayette, Colorado. It operated between 2000 and 2006 and received some national attention. It was the first elementary school in United States specifically founded for 2e students.

Prospect Ridge Academy (PRA) is a K-12 charter school in the Adams 12 School District in Broomfield, Colorado, United States. It was founded as a K-6 school, then added a grade each year. It has now become a full K-12 school, with the high school being built three years ahead of schedule due to popular demand. The inaugural class graduated in May 2018.

Flatirons Community Church is a large non-denominational church in Lafayette, Colorado, approximately 10 miles east of Boulder, Colorado, United States.

The Miller House was built by Lafayette, Colorado's town founder Mary Miller. Miller arrived in Colorado in 1863 and after discovering coal on her land, she opened a mine and in 1888 established the coal town of Lafayette. She made charitable donations to coal mining families and the town. The Miller House was built in the late 1880s in the center of the original 150-acre townsite. She operated a school in her house on East Cleveland Street until she established the town's first school.The house maintains its original appears, aside from the application of siding. The house is historically significant to the town for Miller's role as "the founder of the community, who was also responsible as well for the development of the coal industry in Lafayette." The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 20, 1983.

The Congregational Church at 300 E. Simpson St. in Lafayette, Colorado was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1983 as part of a multiple property submission, the Lafayette Coal Mining Era Buildings TR. It has served as a church, meeting hall, hospital, and library. It has been restored and remodeled for use as the Mary Miller Theater, home of the Theater Company of Lafayette.

WOW! Children's Museum, formally World of Wonder, is an interactive children's museum located in Lafayette, Colorado geared toward children under 12. It was founded in 1996 by Lisa and Dario Attallah and in 2004 moved to Lafayette from Louisville. A 2019 expansion allowed for the addition of an outdoor programming space. The museum schedules designated sensory friendly events for children with autism or sensory processing disorder, including a sensory room.In 2015, it was named among the top 25 children's museums in the United States by the Early Childhood Education Zone, welcomed its millionth visitor, and was on track for its highest annual attendance.
