Paranur railway station

Paranur is a village in India near the busy GST Road or National Highway 45. It has a railway station and few hundred houses, and is 44 km from Chennai International Airport in Tirusulam. Paranur comes under Panchayat union/block of Kattankulathur, and Panchayat Raj under Veerapuram. Paranur has been a special economic zone (SEZ) since October 2005.

Kolavai Lake is a lake adjoining the town of Chengalpattu in Tamil Nadu, India. The lake is located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) from Chennai, and is close to Paranur railway station and Chengalpattu Junction railway station. During times of acute water shortage in summer, this lake serves as an additional source of water for the city of Chennai. The lake hosts migratory birds such as the whiskered tern, Indian spot-billed ducks, moorhens, coots, and small waders.

Singaperumal Koil railway station is one of the railway stations of the Chennai Beach–Chengalpattu section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network. It serves the neighbourhood of Singaperumal Koil, a suburb of Chennai. It is situated at a distance of 51 km from Chennai Beach junction and is located on NH 45 in Singaperumal Koil, with an elevation of 45 m above sea level.

Padalathri Narasimhar Temple or Narasimhar Temple (also called Singaperumal Koil) is dedicated to Hindu god Vishnu (Narasimha) located in Singaperumal Koil, near Chennai City, in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Constructed as rock-cut architecture, dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Narasimhar, and his consort Lakshmi as Ahobilavalli, the temple was built by the Pallavas during the 8th century. Earlier in Kanchipuram district, it is now under Chengalpattu district. The temple is Classified one among the 108 Abhimana Kshethram of Vaishnavate tradition. The temple is open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and has four daily rituals at various times of the day. Various festivals are celebrated in the temple, with the Chittirai Brahmotsavam during April–May, Narasimha Jayanthi, Pavithra Utsavam during Aani (June–July) and Maasi float festival (Theppam) during February–March being the most prominent. The temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Chengalpattu Junction railway station is a railway junction of the southern section of the Chennai Suburban Railway Network situated in the town of Chengalpattu, 56 kilometres (35 mi) south-west of Chennai Beach. The station falls in the Chennai railway division of the Southern Railway zone of the Indian Railways. Officially it bears the code CGL.

Singaperumal Koil is a satellite town city of Chennai located between Chengalpattu and Maraimalai Nagar in Chengalpattu district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is a part of the area Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) and a vital locality in Chennai Metropolitan Area. A famous temple to Narasimha, the Padalathri Narasimhar Temple is situated in Singaperumal Koil. It is located on a small hillock off the GST road between Chennai and Chengalpattu. The famous twin temples of Lord Siva known as Marundeswarar and Kachabeswarar are also present in Thirukachur, which is located little north-westerly to Singaperumal Koil town. Together they are considered one of the famed Paadal Petra Sthalams ("Shrines on which hymns were sung") of Thondai Naadu. Chingleput district was a district in the Madras Presidency of British India. It covered the area of the present-day districts of Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Tiruvallur and parts of Chennai city. It was sub-divided into six taluks with a total area of 7,970 square kilometres (3,079 sq mi). The first capital was the town of Karunguzhi, with an interruption between 1825 and 1835, administrative headquarters were transferred to Kanchipuram. In 1859, the capital Saidapet, now a neighbourhood in the city of Chennai, was made the administrative headquarters of the district.

Kachabeswarar Temple, Thirukachur is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva, located in Thirukachur, a village in Kanchipuram district in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Shiva is worshipped as Kachabeswarar, and is represented by the lingam. His consort Parvati is depicted as Antanatchi and Kanniyumaiyal. The presiding deity is revered in the 7th-century CE Tamil Saiva canonical work, the Tevaram, written by Tamil saint poets known as the Nayanars and classified as Paadal Petra Sthalam. The temple is counted as a twin temple along with Marundeeswarar Temple located in the same village. The temple complex covers two acres and the temple tank is located diagonally outside the main gateway. The temple has a number of shrines, with those of Kachabeswarar and his consorts Antanatchi and Kanniyumaiyal, Thiyagarajar and that of Sundarar being offered food by Shiav being the most prominent. All the shrines of the temple are enclosed in large concentric rectangular granite walls. There is a sixteen pillared hall in front of the main tower that has sculpted columns depicting various legends and Hindu deities. The temple has four daily rituals at various times from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and four yearly festivals on its calendar. The Brahmotsavam festival is celebrated during the day of the Magam (February - March) is the most prominent festival. The original complex is believed to have been built by Cholas, while the present masonry structure was built during the Nayak during the 16th century. In modern times, the temple is maintained and administered by the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Marundeeswarar Temple or Oushadheeshwar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva. Shiva is worshipped as Marundeeswarar, and is represented by the lingam. His consort Sati is depicted as Anjanakshi. The presiding deity is associated with the 7th century Tamil Saiva Nayanars Sundarar. The temple is counted as a twin temple along with Kachabeswarar temple, the place where Lord Vishnu did penances to Lord Shiva to incarnate into his Kachaba (Tortoise) Avatar. The temple complex covers an area of one acre and all its shrines are enclosed with a granite concentric rectangular walls. The temple has a number of shrines, with those of Marundeeswarar and his consort Irulneeki Thayar being the most prominent. The temple has three daily rituals at various times from 6:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., and four yearly festivals on its calendar. The Brahmotsavam festival is celebrated during the day of the Magam (February - March) is the most prominent festival.
