West Barnstable, Massachusetts

West Barnstable station is a railway station in West Barnstable, Massachusetts. The train station currently serves as a weekend stop for several excursion trains operated by the Cape Cod Central Railroad. The station building, which is owned by the Town of Barnstable, Massachusetts, is the headquarters on the Cape Cod Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS).

The Cape Cod Central Railroad is a heritage railroad located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. It operates on a rail line known as the Cape Main Line which is owned by Massachusetts Department of Transportation. The line was previously owned and operated by the Cape Cod Railroad, the Old Colony Railroad, and later the New Haven Railroad, each of which operated passenger trains on the line from 1854 to 1959. Although its namesake is the former Cape Cod Central Railroad (1861–68), the two companies are unrelated.

The West Barnstable Village–Meetinghouse Way Historic District is a historic district on Meetinghouse Way from County Rd. to Meetinghouse Road in Barnstable, Massachusetts. The 175-acre (71 ha) district encompasses the historic heart of the village of West Barnstable. This is a roughly linear district, including all of the properties along Meetinghouse Way between County Road and the 1717 West Parish Meetinghouse, which is the district's most prominent building. Most of the houses in the district were built in the 18th and early 19th centuries, and are thus predominantly in Georgian, Federal, and Greek Revival styles. Later buildings include the First Selectmen's Office (1889), elementary school (1903), and railroad station (1910).The area was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The Jenkins–Whelden Farmstead is a historic farmstead in Barnstable, Massachusetts. It is one of Barnstable's best-preserved farm properties. The farm complex includes a c. 1840 house, an older 18th century house that is used as a toolshed, two barns, and several other small outbuildings. The current main house is a three-bay 1+1⁄2-story Cape cottage with Federal styling. The toolshed is believed to have been built by Thomas Jenkins (1666-1745), and was part of a larger house which was originally located on Church Street.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

This 2+1⁄2-story wood-frame house was built c. 1750 by Joseph Jenkins, and is a well-preserved reminder of West Barnstable's early history. The house is four bays wide, with an off-center chimney and entry. The main entry has plain trim, with a transom window and a triangular pediment. The property was owned by the Jenkins family throughout the 19th century.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.

The 1+1⁄2-story Cape style wood-frame house was built c. 1760 by Matthias Smith, and was the center of a working farm for two centuries. It is five bays wide, with a central entry and central chimney, with two single-story ells added to its left. The entry is topped by a small transom window with two bullseye lights. The house is a well-preserved example of a mid-18th century farmhouse; the property includes a number of agricultural outbuildings, including a barn, toolshed, and chicken houses.The property was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
