Richhill, County Armagh

Richhill railway station was on the Ulster Railway in Northern Ireland. The Ulster Railway opened the station on 1 March 1848. It closed on 10 October 1957.

Hamiltonsbawn or Hamilton's Bawn is a village in County Armagh, Northern Ireland, five miles (8 km) east of Armagh. It lies within the Parish of Mullabrack and the Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon District Council area. It had a population of 895 people (343 households) in the 2011 Census.

Richhill Castle is a 17th-century Grade A listed country house in the large village of Richhill, in the townland of Legacorry, Armagh, Northern Ireland roughly halfway between Armagh and Portadown. It is a two-storey building with a gabled attic in the high pitched roof. It consists of a 5-bay central range flanked by two wings, all with Dutch-style gables.

Altaturk (from Irish Alt a tuirc, meaning 'height or glen of the hog or wild boar') is a townland of 283 acres in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is situated in the historic barony of Oneilland West and up until 1851 in the civil parish of Loughgall after which it was transferred to Kildarton civil parish.

Broomhill is a small village in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is within the townland of Drumnahunshin (from Irish Druim na hUinseann, meaning 'ridge of the ash') and the Armagh City and District Council area. It had a population of 197 people (91 households) in the 2011 Census. (2001 Census: 213 people)

Annahugh (from Irish Eanach Aodha 'Hugh's marsh') is a small village and townland near Loughgall in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. While most of the settlement is within the townland of Annahugh, part of it extends into the neighbouring townland of Ballyhagan (Baile Uí hAgáin). Hence, the two names are sometimes used to refer to the same settlement. It is situated within the Armagh City and District Council area. It had a population of 275 people (98 households) in the 2011 Census. (2001 Census: 159 people)

Retreat Halt railway station was on the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) in Northern Ireland. The Great Northern Railway (Ireland) opened the station on 1 November 1936. It closed on 10 October 1957. As of 2014, it was reported that there was a potential to reopen several railway lines in Northern Ireland, including the Portadown to Armagh section.

Mullaghbrack, Mullabrack or Mullaghbrac (from Irish Mullach Breac, meaning 'speckled hilltop') is a small village, townland and civil parish in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is on the road between Markethill and Hamiltonsbawn, just north of Gosford Forest Park. It had a population of 54 people (24 households) in the 2011 census. (2001 census: 75 people)

The Armagh rail disaster happened on 12 June 1889 near Armagh, County Armagh, in Ireland, when a crowded Sunday school excursion train had to negotiate a steep incline; the steam locomotive was unable to complete the climb and the train stalled. The train crew decided to divide the train and take forward the front portion, leaving the rear portion on the running line. The rear portion was inadequately braked and ran back down the gradient, colliding with a following train. Eighty people were killed and 260 were injured, about a third of them children. It was the worst rail disaster in the United Kingdom in the nineteenth century, and to this day remains the worst railway disaster in Irish history. It is the fourth worst railway accident in the history of the post-independence United Kingdom. At the time, the disaster led directly to various safety measures becoming legal requirements for railways in the United Kingdom. This was important both for the measures introduced and for the move away from voluntarism and towards more direct state intervention in such matters.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon is a local government district in Northern Ireland. The district was created as Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon on 1 April 2015 by merging the City and District of Armagh, Banbridge District and most of the Borough of Craigavon. The word "City" was added to the name on 24 February 2016, to reflect Armagh's city status. The local authority is Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.

The Battle of the Diamond was a planned confrontation between the Catholic Defenders and the Protestant Peep o' Day Boys that took place on 21 September 1795 near Loughgall, County Armagh, Ireland. The Peep o' Day Boys were the victors, killing some 6 Defenders, with some wounded Peep o day boys in return. It led to the foundation of the Orange Order and the onset of "the Armagh outrages".

Loughgall ( lokh-GAWL; from Irish Loch gCál) is a small village, townland (of 131 acres) and civil parish in County Armagh, Northern Ireland. It is in the historic baronies of Armagh and Oneilland West. It had a population of 282 people (116 households) in the 2011 Census. Loughgall was named after a small nearby loch. The village is surrounded by orchards.
