The Tinkertown Museum is a folk art museum in Sandia Park, New Mexico. The museum was founded by artist Ross Ward, and feature's Ward's hand-carved miniature Old West town, as well as a hand-carved circus, a collection of over 280 wedding cake toppers, tools, and other oddities, Ward's Jeep decorated in bottle caps and pennies, and a 35 foot antique sailboat, Theodora R, which circumnavigated the world from 1981 to 1991, piloted by Fritz Damler. The museum has been described as the "jumbled reflections of a wildly creative mind", and an "Americana wonderland of oddities".

La Madera is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Sandoval County, New Mexico, United States. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The CDP is in the southeast corner of the county, bordered to the south by Paa-Ko and Edgewood, both in Bernalillo County. The community sits at the eastern base of the Sandia Mountains, which rise to the west 4 miles (6 km) to the summit of Sandia Crest, elevation 10,678 feet (3,255 m).

Paa-Ko is a census-designated place (CDP) in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States, built around the Paa-Ko Ridge Golf Club. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.The CDP is in northeastern Bernalillo County on the northwest side of New Mexico State Road 14. It is bordered to the southeast, across NM 14, by Edgewood, and to the north it is bordered by La Madera in Sandoval County. Via NM 14, Paa-Ko is 3 miles (5 km) northeast of San Antonito, 10 miles (16 km) northeast of Interstate 40 at Tijeras, and 7 miles (11 km) southwest of Golden. The community is on the west side of the valley of San Pedro Creek, a north-flowing tributary, via Arroyo Tonque, of the Rio Grande.

Sandia Peak Ski Area, originally La Madera Ski Area, is a ski resort located in the Sandia Mountains in northeast Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States, immediately northeast of the city of Albuquerque. It is part of a Special Use Permit Zone in the Sandia Ranger District of the Cibola National Forest. It is New Mexico's first ski area, opening to skiers in 1936. It features Sandia Peak Tramway, which was until 2010 the longest tramway in the world, and remains the longest in the Americas. The resort includes 35 ski runs and a terrain park, and also serves as a site for summer recreation. It is one of the few ski resorts in the US that can be directly accessed from a major city.

Zuzax is an unincorporated community in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, United States. It lies on New Mexico State Highway 333, former U.S. Highway 66, about eleven miles (18 km) east of Albuquerque. It is now largely an area of subdivisions. An exit for Zuzax exists on nearby Interstate 40. The name was coined by entrepreneur Herman Adams, who opened a curio shop in the area around 1956 and named it so that it would be the final entry in phone books. There was also a short chairlift ride which ascended a small hill behind the store.

TWA Flight 260 was the Trans World Airlines (TWA) designation for a flight from Albuquerque, New Mexico to Santa Fe, New Mexico. On February 19, 1955, the 40-passenger Martin 4-0-4 prop plane used by TWA for that route crashed into the Sandia Mountains. Its deviation from the normal flight path, initially believed to be the result of pilot error, was revised to "unknown" given that the contribution of other factors could not be definitively ruled out.
