Verd (pronounced [ˈʋɛɾt]; in older sources also Vrd, German: Werd) is a settlement south of Vrhnika in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. The Verd Viaduct on the A1 motorway from Ljubljana to Koper runs above the settlement.

Nauportus (Navport, Navportus) (Ancient Greek: Ναύπορτον), was an ancient Roman town in Pannonia Superior (later 10th Italian region) on the road from Aquileia to Emona with a port at the Nauportus river, now the Ljubljanica River, Slovenia. Strabo wrote that near the Nauportus was a river, called Corcoras (Ancient Greek: Κορκόρας), which received the cargoes.According to historian Pliny the Elder, the name was derived from the legendary landing of the Argonauts at the river, where they are said to have founded the town. Tacitus reports that in year 14, the town was plundered by mutinous Roman forces that has been sent to build roads and bridges.Remains of Nauportus were found in present-day Vrhnika in central Slovenia. A Late Roman emporium with warehouses and a central market was located and excavated at riverbanks. Traces of the defense system of Claustra Alpium Iuliarum, a guard tower, and a Late Roman castellum can be seen in Vrhnika and in vicinity.

The Stampetta Bridge (Slovene: Štampetov most, German: Stampetta-Viaduct) is a railroad viaduct south of Vrhnika, Slovenia. It is named after the engineer that built it. The Stampetta Bridge is originally a brick and stone structure that was built in 1856 as part of the Austrian Southern Railway. During the Second World War, the bridge was badly damaged. It was first damaged in 1941, but repaired by the Royal Italian Army's Ferrovieri Engineer Regiment. Sabotage attacks were later carried out by Partisan forces in October 1943, June 1944, and September 1944 in order to disrupt German supply lines. The bridge was repaired from 1945 to 1946.During the Yugoslav era, the Railway Workers Hiking Club (Planinsko društvo Železničar) of Ljubljana held an annual walk across the Stampetta Bridge. Today the bridge also spans the A1 Freeway, where it is categorized as a 14.5 m (48 ft) tunnel. During construction of the freeway, part of the bridge was altered; an additional two arches were added to the original seven arches.

26 October Barracks is a former barracks of the Slovenian Armed Forces, located at Stara Vrhnika in Vrhnika Municipality, central Slovenia. It falls under the 25th military-territorial Vrhnika Slovenian Armed Forces Command. A park in front of the barracks contains two monuments to the liberation struggle during World War II and is listed as cultural heritage.

Stara Vrhnika (pronounced [ˈstaːɾa ˈʋəɾxnika]; German: Altoberlaibach) is a village north of Vrhnika in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. It includes the hamlets of Kuren (or Koren), Podčelo, and Razor.

Bistra (pronounced [ˈbiːstɾa]; German: Freudenthal) is a small settlement in the Municipality of Vrhnika in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia.

Sinja Gorica (pronounced [ˈsiːnja ɡɔˈɾiːtsa]; German: Schweinbüchl or Schweinsbüchel, later Scheinbüchel) is a settlement immediately northwest of Vrhnika in the Inner Carniola region of Slovenia. The settlement consists of two parts: the older part stands to the southeast, built around the foot of a hill and along the road to Blatna Brezovica. The newer part, the hamlet of Sap, stands along the main road from Vrhnika to Ljubljana.
